To all reading this post. Come on, just think a little. It is so easy to get around this problem.
I also have steam version. There is nothing illegal about getting a backup image of this game if you alrady own it.
Just install a fresh copy of forged alliance retail from disk, this is version 3596 and update to 3599.
The steam version is 3603 beta or something similair. You really only need this if you want to play online which you wouldn't use a trainer for anyway. In addition, there is no reason to ever install the steam version when playing this game because faforever has patched the game to 3614 beta. Lastly, faforever runs completely seperate from any install.
Look this stuff up on the internet people.

Because Cheat Happens is an American based business, the laws of the United States apply on the discussion of backups. Currently these are the conditions allowed with backup copies:
1. User is allowed to possess one (1) backup copy of his/her game.
2. The backup copy must be one the user made himself/herself (that is, you cannot download one that someone else has made).
3. If the user gives away or sells his original copy to someone else, he/she must give away or destroy the backup.
I understand these laws only apply to users living in America, but due to the location of Cheat Happens, discussions not conforming to the above three will not be allowed on the forums.

actually if you have bought the game LEGALLY it is quit within the law to get a crack for an earlier game. it is only illegal if you have stolen the game from the internet and then cracked it to play the stolen game. kind of like you will get arrested for breaking into a house but if you own the house and have locked yourself out so you climbed through the window to let yourself in to your house. first scenario is illegal second is not.
This is incorrect. Under US law (Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998) any hardware of software intended to bypass copy protection, including KeyGens, NoCD cracks and patched installers, are illegal. Period.
There is no exception if you own the game, no special rules for older or out of print games, and no grace period to try before you buy
