Servius, in all fairness I think he was talking about being banned from the entire game because you modded the files to cheat in single player. I believe he was suggesting that EA is not going to make a discernation about modded files and whether the "cheat" in question applies to single player or multi player and simply is going to assume that modifications are cheats and start with blanket bans.
I do not believe this is the case. I think that worst-case scenario Origin would be set up to scan your system files only when you connect to multiplayer and then finding modded files you may get banned. More likely Origin would upload a copy of your modified files to EA servers and then would be reviewed for MP cheats, or, even more likely than that, Origin and the game are set up to look for stats in MP that simply should not be possible. Like people firing off powers with no cooldowns, crazy scores on the leaderboards, gaining 10 levels in one match, or completing a Bronze game and earning 100k credits where most every other match averages like 15k.
And I believe that to be the case because as screwed up as some of the stuff that EA does is, they and all the other developers know you can't just start blanket banning people. It's a quick way to a boycott and a fierce one at that which would hurt their bottom line which everyone knows is the only thing EA really cares about anyway.
So everyone rest easy and don't automatically think zebras when you hear hoofbeats. Might just be horses.
Well I am referring to the MP! Then again they could still take the whole game away cause of that they have that right to. Oh and they have charged people to get there game back. People have payed for it to.

Settle down, boy. If someone goes about hypothetically talking about how they would hypothetically go from being a hypothetical internet hardman to a hypothetical actual hardman with a civil suit, they will either respond to logic or are in fact already internet hardmen that are either trolling or blinded by callous stupidity and can't be calmed regardless.
And right now? This very moment? You're being an internet hardman, bro. This thread has nothing to do with what anybody in it is doing in ME3's MP - it's about whether or not SP, and only SP, can get you a ban. There really wasn't a reason for anyone to get antsy here, MP is not "required" to get the best ending, (trainer can fix that quite easily by itself) nor would it even affect you personally if it was - people who simply want the best ending but don't want to play MP will do it alone. Hell, I got up to 90% on the first day - and I played all my matches legit, but solo. So heel 'fore this degenerates further.
And plus, flying off the wheel and shouting about something off-topic is kind of my thing, and it's only supposed to be about frivolous stuff.
Please mind the mild condescending tone this can be interpreted as (whether intentionally or unintentionally implied). It is generally an unwelcome tone to most people.

He's got me on Steam friends, so if he didn't get that it was a sarcastic-y post I'd likely be getting an earful right about now .
My apologizes I was reacting to the MP side. Na you would never be banned for modifying your SP just as long as it dose not effect MP or leader-board stuff on-line. Although am amazed this got picked up today. Since its like 20 days old and was clearly answered by Scylla Costa 18 days ago. Heck one mod dose not know what the other is doing or saying. Not to diss as I have been in that role before.

No need to apologize to me or anyone else for that matter, really. You did make note of the valid point that Origin's EULA specifically forbids any kind of lawsuit against EA for... well, anything. And since there actually has to be a sticky for this game telling people it's against the spirit of the site as well as the game's rules to cheat in MP, I suppose some anvils just need to be dropped as often as possible to drill stuff into peoples' heads.
But trying to actually be on topic: regardless of what BioWare's somewhat clueless/uninformed/terrible typing community managers manage to mix up, modifying anything but the game's .exe/.dll files and such will likely not set off any alarms, so even if you managed to stretch suspension of disbelief and edited an entry in the wrong category (MPgamecontent instead of just gamecontent) as long as you don't actually play MP and gain stuff from it, you're just as likely to get banned for what color hat you last wore. It's obviously better to just rename the original file, then just swap it back in if you want to play MP.
I think the main concern about "SP affecting MP" is that the MP is wholly client-based, so everything you modify will be used in some way or another. So better safe than sorry in using default files if you're going to touch MP - otherwise, stay out of the /mp*whateverstuff* directories when editing and you've nothing to worry about.
