I've put this in a couple of different threads but people don't seem to be reading them, so I'm just gonna put this here in the hope that some people having difficulty will read it.
The trainer does crash you out to the desktop, unless you do what the instructions say, and disable the trainer with the numpad '/' before you do stuff, not just turning the options off with the number keys.
If your game is crashing with the trainer off, then chances are it's either your PC or a bad install. As it stands, this trainer works fine. If you find yourself forgetting to turn it off occasionally and crashing, go into the control options and rebind quick-save to one of the F keys, and just press that at the start of each turn to be safe.
EDIT: I'm unsure whether this bug is related to the trainer or not (It probably isn't), but I'm gonna put a heads up about it here anyway in case any of you run into it.
About half way into the game when you own many provinces and are building many fort upgrades, sometimes the building option for said fort upgrades will be grayed out, and you'll be unable to build it. To fix, simply save and restart the game (Going back to the main menu and returning doesn't work).

EDIT 2: Okay, the list of what actions make the game crash with the trainer enabled has grown since the last patch, so I'm going to try and keep up to a rolling list of what we've discovered so far.
- Manual battles, both land and sea (Auto resolve is not affected)
- Ending your turn (Conflicts with choices)
- Various agent actions (Incite revolt, etc)
- Using railways
- Loading troops onto ships (Unloading is not affected)
- Levelling up/selecting retainers for agents (Generals don't seem to be affected... Yet)
Essentially, at the start of each turn, move your fleets and armies into combat range with unlimited movement, move your agents close to the desired locations, set your research, building and training queues, and then turn the trainer off before you do ANYTHING else. Chances are the next patch they make will add more conflicts, and due to the nature of the game, and how it actively searches for hacks (Cal has explained this in detail elsewhere), there's no way around it. If anyone comes across any other conflicts that aren't already listed, please post in this thread and I'll update the list, so we can all keep up to date.
It's a pain, but the game and trainer still work fine, albeit with an element of annoyance thrown in.
We're grown ups, we can handle it!

MAJOR EDIT: Various things have changed with the trainer/game, so if you're having problems please navigate to the most recent pages of this thread for the most relevant posts and possible fixes for errors you're encountering. I find myself with very little spare time lately, and I apologise for that.
