People purchase games as escapist entertainment... NOT to be reminded that the real world is arbitrarily cruel. In R/L millions are killed every year (month maybe) by war, pestilence, starvation & the indifference of their own governments and culture.
I don't need that crap in a game I paid for so I could be entertained. I don't want a "serious" resolution. I want happily ever after or at least something that permits the possibility of life goes on & the possibility of some sort of future exists.
I have posted my extreme annoyance regarding the resolution of ME3 on every venue I could find... including the ME3 Facebook page so that people who have not yet purchased this POS will be encouraged to avoid it. I hope ME3 sales go right in the toilet. The oft quoted 3.5 million in sales represents mostly wholesale pre-orders. Guys I know at BestBuy told me that sales of the game have dropped off significantly after the hugely negative word of mouth started to circulate.
The ONLY thing game developers understand is the bottom line. Those of us who feel ripped off need to hurt BioWare the only place it counts!
But you are playing a game that shows the universe is arbitrary and cruel from the very first game. From the first game on you were shown millions dying, the indifference of government. You are playing a character that goes around the galaxy killing all kinds of people and things, beings with families and lives. He even wipes out a system with over 300,000 so he can save others. That's a pretty "serious" resolution there.
Who says life does not go on, where does it state that at the end? Where does it state there is no future? Life does indeed go on, just not like before. There is a future now, one with no interference from the reapers. If people need to escape life that much maybe they should play games without so much killing and destruction.
Make sure you guys vote in this link!Link , its getting a ton of attention

Welcome to the post ending nightmare that is ME3. lol
Seriously, seldom times have I seen an ending hated so much as this. Mostly because like you said, its extremely vague, and they cant even use the excuse "oh you'll see in the next one" because there wont BE a next one.
Bioware hasn't seen this much heat since DA2, and honestly this seems worse. I don't know what the whole point of marketing this game was, if it basically says, hey don't bother replaying, or adding people because guess what, doesn't matter in the end. You wont hear from them, or know what happens.
LE bull**** 2DMax.
Says who? Just because, Sheppard's storyline is done with, doesn't mean we'll never see another game in the Mass Effect universe.
I like the fact that there is some ambiguity in the downtrodden end. It's anti-Hollywood sappiness. Something that's sorely needed. I'm disgusted by the boatloads of titles that tie everything up in nice little rainbows of fluffy happiness. That's not reality, and not something this series needs (as a certain character puts it succinctly, humanity desires to save all people - that doesn't/can't happen in war).
