I very much like the game so far and I have no problems with the writing so far. ME3 is massive, 15 hours in and I'm only still in Act 1, with two more acts to go.
I know many people like to say how the story was so great in ME1 but you could say it was a somewhat sappy space opera. The Reapers had some mystery but it wasn't that big of a deal. ME1 is not the greatest science fiction writing that some people make it out to be. ME1 had gaps also. Not to mention the running around after minor criminals and such with the galaxy at stake.
I love the whole ME series, I think some people just like to hate on ME3 because its the thing to do right now. Each game had its positives and negatives. But overall an excellent series.
Agreed.
We all heard much the same arguments and complaints about ME2, but now ME3 is being compared to ME2 like ME2 is the best game of the series.
Give it 12 months and most people will be saying how ME3 is the pinnacle of Sci-Fi storytelling and gameplay.

To my Tag partner. Its all just hype and in thing. Once people get off the proverbial golden ***** thats deep in there tight and see what the game is properly and not nit pick into it. Everything can not be perfect or it would just be boring. Just play and enjoy what you have
@Lizml86 -- I just finished the game a few minutes ago. I got Shep to breathe by:
--1. Doing every quest I could. I'm quest driven. Been playing RPGs since dice were involved. The quests got my readiness up which is the most important thing. I missed about 5 quests in Act I, of which I had 3 ready to turn in, but Act II started and I couldn't.
--2. Got every species to work together (geth+quarian)... again, goes towards Readiness.
--3. Visited every system and gathered every resource I could... again, goes towards Readiness. --you should see a pattern here--
--4. I played "full" Paragon, with just a tiny, itsy-bitsy red line sitting at the bottom.
--5. The ending between Illusive Man, Anderson and myself... I went Paragon again, so there was only gun shot.
--6. I don't know how much this played into it, but I talked to ALL my crew after every mission (not system scan, but missions).
--7. I went with killing the reapers. I was very torn between that and synth, I think in new game+ I'll go with synth, but I know Shep will be absorbed.
*In ME2 I destroyed the Collector Base. No deaths during suicide mission. Was paragon in both 1 and 2. Played all DLC in ME2 with all crew side missions (no deaths on suicide)... but I don't think dlc would have had Any impact at all on ending.
On a side note for the ending... Slowest... Walk... Ever!!! LOL
Ok step seven was the only one I did not do as well.
