Yeah you can survive but it means keeping Anderson alive at the end (as in not one hit kill).

For absolute fantastico ending you need 10,000 War Points at 50% Galactic Readiness, or 5,000 at 100% GR, should be 8,000/4,000 but just incase Anderson dies best to have 10,000/5,000 :P

There is also various endings on what path you choose, like the "red" option has normal and a bad ending where everyone also dies. So yeah it all depends on what you did in game.

As for sequel, there is a hint at the end of the credits if you do the super happy ending (about another Shepard story).

There will be a new trilogy for Shepard because a lot of people are willing to pay for it and it's easier to just extend the current story into a new story arc and make a new sequel/trilogy than it is to instead, make a new story/universe for new unproven game. Since Bioware has already killed off Shepard once and resurrect him somehow, people/EA would expect Bioware to resurrect Shepard a second time.

I don't think we've heard the last of Mass Effect. Whether or not that's a good thing... Only time will tell.

Technically they killed him twice, if you got the bad ME2 ending... and in the same game. They really have issues with Shepard.

It's arrived! Bwahahaha! I take back everything bad I said about Play.

"Remember the good old days when you could just slap Omni-Gel on everything?" - Shepard, ME2

"Not right now. Trying to determine how Scale Itch got aboard. Sexually transmitted disease carried only by Varren..... Implications unpleasant." - Mordin, ME2

Believe you me, the gameplay is exceptional, but with a horrible ending I just don't know what to think of this.

    Ayy lmao

I meant Play.com - where I bought the game from - not gameplay

However, even having read the descriptions of the endings, I'm quite happy with them. Whether or not I'll think the same when I actually experience them, I don't know, but for now it's fine. Maybe that comes from my expecting - even wanting - a bad outcome even with the good ending.

I'm sure there will definitely be another Mass Effect, not with Shepard but with someone else. There is no way Bioware will let this cash cow die.

EA is the anti-Midas touch company. Everything they touch turns to garbage.

I wouldn't care if the ME franchise made them lose money, I want more
