And how to you suggest I go about doing that? Steam and origin automatically route me to a server that has the desired content on it. I don't have any control over which one it is. that and I don't know how many servers they have.
Also with the example above, it actually happened and I wasn't the only one with this issue. I was talking to someone from the UK, America and Canada at the time, as we were all good to go for playing some Cooperative in L4D as soon as it came out. heck we even stayed up for it.
all 4 of us had the same issue so it wasn't just isolated to the server I was connected to. Either that or Steam only has one content server.

Change your Download Region
Try changing your Download Region to see if it affects the issue:
On Windows
Start Steam
Go to Steam > Settings > Downloads tab
Under Download region, select a different but relatively close region.
Try launching or installing the game once more
On Mac
Start Steam
Click on Steam > Preferences > Downloads tab
Under Download region, select a different but relatively close region.

More than likely that message to play on March 5th just means it will be pre-loaded And ready to play at MidNight.
Technically right on March 6th.
That's still awesome though,you will be playing when most of us will be at a LOOOONNNNGGGGG MidNight realease(IE:ME.I'm getting it for my PS3,because my PC sucks.)

Could be, even though the at the bottom its says "release date: March 5, 2012". Either way I can't wait. Plus I work from home on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Guess I'll be having some long breaks from work on Tuesday

I would say its a miss print. Since the yanks officially get it on the 6th. Then Europe get it on the 9th. And yes it has to be decrypted before play.
