It's not just the options, all you need to do is keep the trainer activated and the "dead body" bug appears which makes it impossible to continue some missions (like the ones where you follow the kidnapper). You don't even have to enable any of the options.

Indeed, this would appear to be the case. I could not complete the tutorial either with the trainer activated. You also end up dying in the shack instead of just being injured and then shown the light. I initially thought I was missing something that I needed to find to get out of the cabin, heh.

i will check with the patched steam to see if this continues to occur. this doesn't occur with my version of the game.
