I have the PC version of the game..bought and downloaded it from amazon.com and was wondering if the achievements really mean anything (like can u finish the game without some of the achievements?) i know u get achievements for finishing memory sequences but other as in the Iron Curtain achievement (is that really necessary to finish the game?)

Think of achievements like a scoreboard: it's nice to have to keep track of things and see how good you are, but the game doesn't depend on it.
A lot of achievements you'll actually gain automatically as you progress through the game - as you said you get them for finishing certain sequences. but you'll get them for a certain number of kills with the hidden blade for example - but all of them are absolutely, completely and utterly optional.
