Have you downloaded any of the existing trainers to make sure they actually don't work with the Steam version?

i have and they didnt work, in steam it says its version 1.10 and there is no trainer that has version 1.10, if there were any more patches in steam it would download them automaticly

Steam patches when they are given an update to patch with.
Its possible the update wasnt important enough to release, or some such deal like that.

I would be satisfied with a trainer with only one option, unlimited unit cap... that'd be enough...pleasssee...i cant even find anything in the game directory to change unit cap

PWizard, any chance you would reconsider? Please just take a look at it.

Just get a back up file that works with the current edition of the trainers.. You can get these files from "friends". Install the steam files once, then delete them and replace the files with the retail (patched) version of supreme commander.. Make sure steam updates for supcom is turned off.. Load game from steam and profit.. With update turned off steam couldn't tell if my files were actually from retail.
Store the file backups somewhere safe.
I can vouch that this method works, because I just did it 30 minutes ago.
