If anyone has bought Citites XL 2012 and is running win 7 64 bit (especially steam version) I have found work around for game not running will post work around if any-1 needs it

Hey CCFDMAN1, I'm having that issue running it on Win 7 64-bit. I also saw some users on the game forum with the same complaint. What was your work around?

ok sorry taken me a while to get back to a pc ....... it depends on what version i got the steam version so i m going to assume for instructions reasons. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\cities xl 2012 (C or what ever the drive letter being used ) theres a little file in there called vcredist_x86.... i m assuming when running under steam it attempts to run the 32 bit version of c++ when installing the certain files. It took me a few hours and a pack of smokes to figure this out ....once it runs (might have to do as admin by the way)it will install the 64 bit files neededto run. Launch the game through steam if using and should run..... if this does not work let me know and i ll uninstall my copy and figure out what steps i took to get it working. Heres to hoping

Just saw your work around. Not really sure what its telling me to do. do i get to that little file and run it? more indepth instructions would be really helpful for me. thanks ^_^

Ok I am running this game and it starts fine on 64-bit win 7 system.
