I received notification from Steam that their database has been compromised in some way. It asked me to change passwords and watch credit card account, etc. Wow.....kinda scarey. I am reloading the game as single player has been unavailable all day, don't know if all this nonsense has anything to do with it. Hope you folks aren't encountering any of this mess.

That was almost 2 weeks ago. Unless they got hacked again.

Got the message this evening when I clicked on steam, bro. Unless maybe....they don't like me....(facepalm)

yeah my credit card got hacked from Steam. stole my steam password stole my credit card from last week. saw all those weird purchases by the thief using my card. i have since replaced my card with a new one. even my paypal was hacked.

honestly im now scared buying from within Steam. ill just prefer buying games outside for the steam key (like g2play.net). dont want to undergo the stress and fright again when somebody steals your card and personal details.

Very good advice, indeed....thanks. It kinda leaves a person wondering just how good steam security is, jeez.

Lesson to learn here is use DIFFERENT passes and Account names for different things, a complex password used for 20 things is useless if someone (cough Sony cough) leaves the backdoor open.

If someone can get into your steam they will see your recovery email address and can easily use a script to check the Steam pass for Hotmail, Gmail, facebook, twitter and all that other required internet stuff.

Change ALL of it, and pray they didn't cheat whilst using your steam as you will be banned at least temporarily.
