I read on a website that in Skyrim, you become a werewolf by doing the Companions faction quests located in Whiterun.

You can also become a werewolf, by simply doing a quest to help a werewolf cure himself out in the town a long ways southwest of helgen. You need to go talk to a grieving couple in the graveyard by a priest to start the quest chain and get a cursed ring that makes you transform into a werewolf randomly from the npc inside the jail. I also know that you can become a vampire, but I don't know if it's locked and set as dlc or active in vanilla Skyrim.

No I also heard if you set your ambitions to be apart of the companion faction you'll be blessed with the transformation. I just saw Tarkas transform into a werewolf and tell me such.

Grind reputation? I finished my trials and then farkas revealed he was a werewolf on my final trial. I did 3 quests after that and Sjkor invited me into the circle before I even hit level 10. Also you're attacked by the silver hand, not the vigilants of stendarr lol. Are you sure you played the game?
