I will NEVER buy another game from steam. If you run into a problem and contact them to resolve it, they never answer.
I tried to log into Dungeon Siege 3 today, after not playing for a few weeks. I couldn't get my trainer to start up. But the biggest problem was the background sounds from some other game of Steams. I logged into DS, but the background sound was still there, and not quiet, very loud. Even after I quit the game, the sound was still there. I had to reboot my computer. I'm going to do a search and destroy of every reference to Steam on my computer.
I don't expect to hear back from them. I never did before. What a waste of money!

congratulations you are antisteam troll number (random number here) what do you expect US to do about it? have a tantrum and start a flamewar over steam? uh dont think so couse it wont help. you could actually try to be POLITE on their forums even if you are sicker then a plague victim off the system and you think STEAM have bad support? then you havent tried to get EA support.
Since there are people who give me crap for my grammar and is to lazy to check my profile I will say it here as well. I am dyslexic so give me a break as I *TRY* to spell correctly.

Ah yes, Steams trainer support is REALLY bad.
I have a buch of games and did not except that much problems. Everytime up to date games without doing anything for it, a lot of good offers you cant say no and the support isnt that bad. I have had some problems with Borderlands and the steamoverlay, but was helped in a fair time. There was one thing on which i was alone, but it was not a critical thing.
Steam gives you a much better support for every game than some publisher, which should more responsible for their games.
The first thing, when you got problems with a game, is the integrity check on the game files. This can be done out of the Steamlibrary. Simply right click the game, go to the properties and then tab to "Local Files". There is a button named "Verify integrity of game cache". Press it and wait. If this has not helped you download the entire game again.
After that you can contact the support again. The incidents will be answered in a few days.
And first of all: Search the internet for answers, sometimes it has rather nothing to de with steam then with the subject 30" in front of the screen.

I personally don't see what the big problem with Steam is.
I have bought many games from them and even bought one that just wouldn't run on my machine due to my nVidia480GTX, Steam understood this and gave me my money back, (Well Steam Credit) which is unheard of these days.
So, please try the polite and well mannered approach before you write them off, they're really NOT out to get you.

Well I never had problems with any games I bought on steam... Except one with my keys got lost somehow, they wouldn't work I tried to ask steam to figure out something about it and they wanted me to contact gamespy or something so I just deleted the game easy peasy ... But if its a sound problem reinstall steam should work on corrupted data
Btw, i'm tired so my spelling may suck.

I have two accounts and personally i never had any problems with Steam. I had games i didn't play for months and even years, If i had a problem i submitted a ticket and it was answered in 2 days tops. Never had any problems with the payments or anything or with activating a code or something. And let's face it, Steam is 1000x times better than any other game selling platforms, and not to mention the sales they have.
I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.

I'm using Steam since the day it was released with HL2 and have bought hundreds of games. Yes, it's the probably the downfall of retail but the world simply moves on.
Just a hint: Most problems besides Key activation are basically so individual that they can't be solved by support. Forums and google are your best friends here.
