anyone else having problems w/saved games crashing?
sometimes i can play thru twice before it crashes(always on startup) sometimes just a few minutes in.
And i did verify integrity of game files.
And after crashing I can't play that saved game ever again!

Mine crashes on "Continue" now. I played successfully for a couple of days and got my character to level 50. I do remember one weird thing. I was in the police station I think, and picked up an orange skull... labeled just like that "orange skull", which I tried to check on in my inventory, but it wasn't there. I have no idea what an orange skull does except maybe crash the game. I hate to lose all my inventory and stuff I gave to Jin. Anyone know what to do next?

Oh... and I did play for a while after that... cemetery scene I think, got some reward. Quit for the day, and never was able to play again. That was a day ago.

As an aside... I got to "play" instead of "continue" and try to play with the same crash, but you're confusing me as I only see one save available in the "play" option screen. Are you saying that if I delete that I will get another save to try?

Also... I noticed that when I try to either continue or use the saved game, my character is in the city by the church, but the game is trying to start by loading the resort... wtf? The game seems lost or something.

The game is lost, the crash is being caused by "engine_x86_rwdi.dll". It seems to be trying to load you in a different area then the one you saved in causing this crash to happen. I have yet to see a fix. I've been looking over the spawn points for characters and there are quite a few of them scattered about the maps. I'm thinking the game is confusing them by trying to load you closest to an active quest giver/location. The last time this happened to me, it tried to load me in the "Abandoned House" likely the one where you get the "Spy Game" side quest, where as I saved just outside the Lifeguard Tower in the Resort. I've now stopped playing until they fix this game-breaking bug.

Oh mannnnnn!!! And I was just about to try the fix you got from the steam forums in the saved game thread about deleting the "remotecache.vfd" file you talked about there.

Sigh... I guess I could start over. Only took me like 49 hours to get to level 50 this last time. (mumble grumble... some swearing etc...).

I hope they fix this soon.

What I meant about that is it didn't remember your location. There might be a way around it by joining a multiplayer match and using the character, I don't know. I haven't tried it because my game is modded and I can't go online without removing the mods. And I can't remove the mods because I can't save my game one more time before the bug happens.

And if you have a backup save where this hasn't happened, it would be safe for you to do the process I described before.

    Thanks for the reply Draco...
I started a new character. Who needs a high maintenance level 50 character anyway . I did put my old save file in a safe place though just in case someone figures out how to bring it back.

I've been doing some moderate modding anyway. I like my weapons to hit hard, my guns to shoot straight, and my character to kick butt and issue name tags. Hey... that's just me. I NEVER play online. I'm just a single player kinda guy, always was and will forever be. So far it's been working on the new save, but we'll see when I quit here and try to open the game again. If it flops, I'll moan about it and start again until they fix the problems. I still like the game.
