I only want one because the AI on Heroic is incredibly unfair.
You can't even use an MG because you are instantly shot down upon getting on one, makes the first Defensive mission as the Germans impossible.

Trainer keeps crashing the game, i press F1 for Activated, then as soon as i click on signal player campaign it crashes.

I had that issue too.
I think you have to go through the training course without the trainer options activated first as that is the cause of the crashes in my case. Once you start the first mission you're good to use the trainer.
Anyone can confirm the russian campaign is unlocked after completing the German?

Yes the russian campaign is unlocked when you finish the German one.
