I've had this new laptop only for a few days and I'm finding that every time I press F1 it activates my help and support database, yet the trainer doesn't seem to pick up the button press.. How do I fix this? Any assistance would be hugely appreciated.

You have some kind of software running that is taking over the F1 key, probably by the laptop manufacturer. You'll need to find it and disable it.

Any advice on how? I've done some small research and it's saying that I'd have to perhaps mess with the MS Registry to disable the feature. Do you think it'd be the best case of action,PWiz?

I'm fairly certain that you have some kind of multimedia keyboard software running in the background or system tray. You can run msconfig to see what all is starting up and possibly disable some of them that look like they might be a match. You can also try a "clean boot" to help narrow down the culprit.

Thanks. I'm going poke a few of my friends to further walk me through before I go messing with the guts of my DV7. Lord knows,I've already had a frustrating time with its wireless for one day..

    Thanks,Wizard.
