Ok so this isn't a F3AR specific problem but I was hoping it wouldn't happen at all. Normally my desktop is 1920x1080 (You know, standard HDTV...1080p)but when I enter the game it decides to run overscaned...Annoying to say the least. Normally when i firs run a game it has this issue until I change the resolution to 1920x1080 then it's a simple fix to go into the nVidia control panel and tell it HDTV-Audio diabled (ok so it's set to that by default for me so I tell it to enable audio then say no to the change) then go back into the game and it works like a charm. Some games thisworks for and some it doesn't.
Specifically F3AR and Red Faction Armageddon...However Duke Nukem Forever and Alice Madness Returns work without any issues.
Now this game specifically loses it's punch when played in windowed mode which won't even fill 2/3 of the desktop.
So...is there an ini file or something that can be edited to prevent this form happening and is there a chance it may work on other games too?
If you don't know what overscan is the best place to look is www.google.com the best place for most answers really, however not one for what I need (Sorry smart...rectums...beat you there )

You using an HDMI cable to hook up to your monitor?

If so 1080p should be fine, perhaps you are running some sort of 3rd party app in the background that controls graphic card options etc.

Also check your ballancing options, if you have it at manual make sure you don't set any game profile options that the game may not like, if in doubt set a game to auto control.
Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA

Yeah HDMI cable to HDTV no 3rd party apps. It only happens with certain games not all games, let's say it's "urinating" me off no end!
I'll fiddle with nVidia controls and see if I can force override it.

Yeah I would look at nvidia's options to see if you can force it from there.

I've got the opposite problem, I get a "fake" fullscreen. There's black space on all sides of the monitor, the game is not played on the whole screen as it should be. Using an ati 5770. It might have to do with directx but I can't seem to find how to run the game in a different version.
Trust is a fragile thing. Once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Those we're closest to can betray us,and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

Sadly fiddling with the options in the control panel did nothing to help, it made ACB run like crap though! I wouldn't mind so much if i could expand the window that it runs in windowed mode but i can't find any options or even the file containing user settings...
Actually after giving it some thought I'm wondering if using Powerstrip is a viable option for fixing this. I used to use it before tricking the nVidia control panel into thinking the HDTV I use is different to what it is (by altering EDID) but I'm worried that Powerstrip might frell things up again.

If you don't mind playing the game in dx9 add this command to the game exe "-d3d9". Maybe it could solve your issues, it solved mine.
    For instance my shortcut is this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\WB Games\F.E.A.R. 3\F.E.A.R. 3.exe" -d3d9

Perhaps problem is associated with playing on an HDTV instead of a Monitor?
