Hmmm geee, its showing similar story progress as someone else yet its on Single Player and gives you the option to join them, even for people that are not on your Steam Buddy list..
Hmmm how can this be if its on Single Player..
OHHH I KNOW its because the game is continuously using your connection and is constantly checking for other players!
HOW Stupid of me!
POINT MADE TYVM
Before you Condemn someones intelligence, TRY Researching it yourself!
The game cant compare your progress to someone elses outta nowhere if it WASNT USING YOUR CONNECTION!
If you have a network monitoring program, CHECK IT YOURSELF.

And for the record, if i was wrong, id sure as hell admit it. But i KNOW im not wrong. so try again buddy.
And just because you were an on site tech doesnt mean a thing, did i bother to mention my 12 years of experience with PCs? no i didnt and yet you for some reason or another had to include your supposed experience? Yeah, Ok.

If you cannot post without the condescending tone, please do not bother to post at all.
And yes Steam does use a consistent connection (it is how you know when someone messages you or comes online/offline the instant they perform that action). An example of a program that does not use a consistent connection is Microsoft Outlook (which you can receive e-mails much later than they were sent to you if you use it instead of the web interface to check your e-mail). The only exception to this is to play with Steam in offline mode.
