I just bought it on Steam but haven't installed it yet. Will probably do so tomorrow. I'm still playing Fable III on PC right now so I'm sort of wrapped up in that.
So is this Witcher better than the first or worse?
Somebody said it was like a mix of Batman AA, Oblivion, and something else. I LOVE Oblivion and Batman AA so if it's anything like either one of those then I'll enjoy it. But I'd like to know what everyone else thinks first... Not that it really matters for me since I've already purchased it on Steam so there's no going back for me. But others might read this thread in the future and want to know the general consensus of what everybody else thinks about the game before they buy it.

It easily qualifies as the best rpg and best game released this year but some players don't like the fact that even on so called 'easy' mode you can't just sail through killing everything and opening stashes n emptying em.
Even with the trainer running if a player does something stupid or doesn't adequately prepare for a fight or think through a puzzle, Geralt will die like a dog. I reckon that's great but 'tourists' don't seem to like that they are required to get involved, there are no 'innocent bystanders' in this game. In addition to the choices you make in this game having an irrevocable effect on the outcome, the choices you made in Witcher 1 also determine what you can do and who you can hang out with etc.
You don't have to import a savegame from Witcher 1, & if you don't the game makes a sort of 'lowest common denominator' set of default decisions for you. Best of all the calls are genuine game changing ones - unlike derp age 2 which merely shuffled around the order you fought a couple of bosses in based on you choices. In witcher 2 decisions completly change the plot & possible outcomes, in complex ways.
That should make it interesting to play through more than once. And it has been a long time since I've enjoyed a second crack at any game cause usually they turn into repetitive yawnfests.
The graphics are amazing tho I had some problems until I worked out the drm hassles. I bought the game at sparrow f*rt last Tuesday morning, installed it and started playing while most of the world were still counting the hours fer Tuesday to roll around. After installation I usually pull out disk this one seemed to boot fine without dvd in so kept playing not realising that general lagginess 'n graphic freezes were induced by the witcher 2 servers not coping fast enough when the game 'phoned home' which it does - a lot. In the end I grabbed the SR no-cd just to see if the game would go any better. It certainly does. Reducing the number of save games helps too - this game will have more'n a 1 gig of savegames by the end of Act 1. it keeps all the autosaves. Letting the inventory get too full is also tough on game performance.
Using the trainer to carry 1200 items seemed ok at first, but even with 6 GB memory on an x64 system it dragged it's sorry backside - too much in inventory can cause short freezes when least wanted. eg suddenly surrounded by wraiths - open inventory to oil up the sword, & the game freezes for 30 seconds. Itis gr8 they kept that strategic type function from witcher 1 allowing enhancing while under attack without being topped cause the defences are down.

Thanks for the replies guys/girls, I will definitely be giving it a shot tomorrow sometime and I feel pre-orgasmic about it from all the hype! I trust the crowd on here more than most places and if y'all say it's good then it must be! Can't wait! Will most likely have a joygasm playing it! Thanks!

It sucks that this game doesn't have an OFFICIAL release in India. Just like the first one, I will have to use the help of my contacts abroad to get this as well...Shame!
And seeing you guys calling this game to be the best RPG of this year and having also seen this get a 9.5 aggregate score on Gamespot...I need to get this! xD
Life is best for those who enjoy it, difficult for those who analyze it and worst for those who criticize it.

Definitely the best RPG of the year so far. I liked Dragon Age 2, but this beats even that. Graphics are awesome, interface is easy to use and the story is very engaging. A must-play!

Amazing, probably the best rpg I have played to date. I would suggest not cheating on your first play through as the difficulty of the game really gives you a sense of fulfillment when you beat it.
