I don't think thats a bug, If you notice you can now upgrade equipment for your mercenary troops, and you can no longer get troops from villages. (As far as I know.)

My biggest gripe is that they took so many features out of the game. You can't even play as a chick, although you can hire chicks to fight with you. That right there kills the developer's excuse that women really didn't fight back then. If that was the case then there isn't any need to have any women in the game. Besides, in this game you can't even get married like you can in Warband.

And we all know that women didn't really fight back then but this is just a game after all and the developers need to realize that there are many people (men and women) that just want to play as a fantasy character and pretend it could have happened.

This game is just a watered down version of Warband in all honesty. They took one step forward by adding in the guns but took about four or 5 steps back on other cool features.

I'm already back to playing Warband with mods and don't care what they do with this game. I feel a bit ripped off and I just can't see myself playing a game that plays just like the older games but isn't nearly as good. Maybe when it gets modded or gets patched with the missing features I'll try it again.

I played this game for about 5 minutes after it installed and realized it just plain sucks compared to Warband. Even vanilla Warband is better than this game. The guns are nice but the lack of features from the original two games are a major disappointment. Buyer beware!

I hate to say it, but I agree with 42N8Son. This game is a monumental disapointment, for people who got to know and love Warband.

They seem to have kept most of the core game the same, but removed a lot of the interesting frills that make it that much more enjoyable. I can't even say that the addition of guns makes up for the loss in features.

They've made the bigger and heavier weapons impossible to use on horseback, like two-handed swords, which I suppose is much more realistic, unlike in Warband. Does make horseback combat a bit more lame though.

I'm finding that if you try to play it like Warband, which they claim its an extension of, you'll be very disapointed. Simply put, your champions contiuously get knocked out, and your army often gets slaughtered due to the lack of leveling. I've also realised that the guns are worse than the crossbows they replace, because the reload time can be measured in actual geological time. Most of the time, you get one shot off, then you have to go Melee. I appreciate that that's probably more historically accurate, but its damn annoying.

I suspect that a few updates might fix a few problems with the game, but the essence of the game will remain the same. I'd stick to Warband, its got more weapons, more armor, and better gameplay.

I can play the game until mods/patches come along but I wouldn't say it completely sucks since they took out a couple of things. Yes I hate the fact you cannot recruit in the villages anymore.. I hate it that if you garrison mercenaries into your towns/fortresses/castles/etc... you cannot hire more..
I hate the fact that I am not able to level up my men.. and I don't mean companions.. :P

But really... ya screw it I am going back to warband as well after typing this XD

I disagree with this specific solution for this issue.

Devs just lack planning attitude, and don`t release every little fix, which (by the way) overwrites like half of the games DB files.
Instead, they should plan releases, and CH should do the same. I don`t think that one update per week is too much to ask...
Don`t blame the player if you can`t play the game!

its confirmed as a bug that you cant hire npcs besides merc's and that you cant upgrade them....but its likes the dev's dont care, they dont respond at all. wich is sad

I was playing F&S for about 6 hours or so last night, and I've worked out that if you become a vassel to a king, you can recruit from villages that are gifted to you by your sovereign.

Further, if you do the long ass missions the King offers "How can I help "X" nation", and complete them, the King makes you a noble in his land. After that, you can recruit from any village in that nation.

They only offer you 4-5 people, and you can't level them, and they also vary in their combat style/ability. But that's something, I suppose.

We can't plan for something we don't expect to happen.

So we have a plan, if there is a lot of updates then we will wait until the updates stop within a week or so then do a trainer.

No point updating several trainers that will ultimately never get used again.
