Gameplay videos are insufficient as they lack the ability for the player to get a feel for the controlers as well as areas that the player in the video miss. A proper solution would be a demo of the game released (like my PS1 came bundled with like 20 game demos on one CD and I had a blast learning different games and such).
Yes, but some demos lead to disappointment thus giving the pirates yet another pathetic excuse.
If you find a game disappointing why would you want it? It's not piracy if you decide "this game is disappointing" and not get the game at all.

People pirate it to "see if it's worth buying".
Then even if it is they NEVER buy it.
But that's what the demo is for...
Example: I played the demo version of MGS1. It gave a huge decent amount of time and it ended on a very good point
Spoiler:
Neo, I haven't had a pirated game since I was ten and I didn't understand the concept of things like copyright. I can't pretend to understand these people.
However, they tend to enjoy illegally downloading a game, claiming they'll pay for it eventually and then never doing so. I can think of one person in particular who does so.
