The first AC played in the Middle East (Jerusalem,...), don't know where you got the idea of AC only playing in Italy
I think a place in America would be totally OK, especially since the Codex-Map at the end of AC2 showed that continent too ALL places in the world would be OK for a modern-day-story, but i'm sure others are certainly better fitted.
This Post was about Assassin's Creed Brotherhood not any other Assassin's Creed.. Look at the where the Topic has been posted.. Then you might have a clue which game I was talking about..

Really? I mean, Brotherhood is amazing and i would gladly enjoy a ACB2, but i think it would be cooler if the next AC abandonded Ezio and went on to a new era.
Because in the end the whole series is NOT about Ezio, but the fight between the Templars and the Assassins over these powerful artifacts and how this fight goes on.
Because of that concept i highly doubt that any next AC will play in a time before Ezio or even Altair.
I like crsojos idea of helping start the French Revolution, but it doesn't have to be necessarily a time of big change, since the Templar-Assassin-fight takes stage behind the scenes anyway.
I personally would prefer that the next AC plays sometime around 1800/1850 and the last in Desmonds time, where i'm interested in how Ubisoft will then solve the climbing-jumping-thingy, cause jumping from the rooftops of New York...i don't know ^^
Civil war anyone?! lol that would be funny.
