I think a lot of people have made up their minds that they just can't get through a game without cheats anymore. I've played a few games that the trainers have been retired or whatever and yes, success is still available. Even if you do have to find ammo and health pots.
But if it were an either-or issue, I'd always rather have the trainer versus the achievements. I've achieved enjoyment and that works for me.

Ah but there comes a time when games do not become enjoyable because of how the game makers made it. With darn right annoying puzzeles or jumping games that make it nearly to impossible to do in the first attempt. Which usually comes to 5plus trys then rage quit. So some times it is not always possible to enjoy a game in full.
