I have really had a hard time bringing myself to spend $60 on any game. That said, I am close to breaking down because I enjoyed the first one so much (for which I paid less than half not long after its release). Is it really worth the quid, or should I hold out for a reduced price, or even a used version? Share your thoughts and let me know how you feel it compares to the original on a horror game level and on a story level.

as much as i loved part one...this one's better for me. just love the whole dramatic lighting..sounds...action. its awesome..maybe not too scary...but it does have its moments. gfx r good too especially running it on max. go for it.

I gotta agree i'm on 2048*1152 and the ambient lighting and use of smoke and shadows is far better than in DS1. That said both DS1 and DS2 are great games, spend your money you wont be dissapointed. I'm on my 6th playthrough (glutton for punishment I know) so it can't be that bad, although it does have minor issues at certain points of the game, see the board for further details and cures

IMO, Dead Space 2 is well worth the price. The story line is decently long (I've heard of ppl beating the game on Hardcore difficulty in 7-9 hours), the voice acting is quality and the graphics are as well.

There is one issue with the PC version, as others have mentioned, in that right now the ONLY extra RIG you can get after you beat the game is the Riot Security RIG. EA says they're working on a patch to fix that glitch, but I haven't heard a word on when it'll be released.
But after you buy the Riot RIG you can switch to any other RIG you want, since the Armor bonus you get from it (25%, which is the maximum, I believe) is permanent and from then on what RIG you wear is more a matter of what "Bonus" you want and/or which one you like the look of more.
I'm personally waiting on the patch, 'cause I want the Elite Advanced RIG with it's +10% DMG to ALL weapons and +15% Stasis duration bonuses.

But, honestly, buy the game. It's worth the price. If you wanna spend $20 extra and get the Collector's Edition, it comes with a bonus DLC RIG & skin for the Force Gun and a scale replica of the new Plasma Cutter. The PS3 version of Collector's Ed. also comes with a copy of Dead Space: Ignition, and beating THAT will also get you a bonus RIG in DS2.

Okay, now I'm starting to sound like one of EA's marketing people, so I'll stop...

Thanks for all the input people. It looks like you have served your purpose, and I am now FORCED to buy the game. If I don't... I will be letting all of you down.
