For others following this problem I sent the following to Chris this morning:

I have attached the Patrician 4 exe file from the retail box version. This version was purchased at Walmart On-Line in the US. My copy of the game has been updated to the latest version, v. 1.3. I had to rename the exe file by adding a .bak at the end in order to email it.

I'm experiencing the same problems mentioned here while using the Trainer on the 1.3 version, of the retail Box edition of the game.
Well, in fact I noticed that I've no problem if I use all the functions of the Trainer apart the one to upgrade the Ship editor, cause after the Trainer worked on the various value insert in the specific box of the Ship editor, if I start to use the Ship with the new values inserted with the Trainer, after few minutes the game crashes.

So it's probably due to the fact that this trainer it's not planned to work on the Retail Box version, but just on the Steam one....

So I wanted to give my contribution to this discussion, too. And I would like to know, in any case any results about the possibility to solve this obstacle and the way to use the Trainer on the retail Box version, too.

I wonder if that fixes the compatibility problem since I reinstalled this great game and I have the same problem.

I would also like to ask the possibility pwizard take a look at my version of the exe
