Napoleon: Total War Message Board  

I have been playing Total War series games since it's inception but I can't seem to get the Arty to stop firing after I hit the halt button. Nothing ****es anyone off more than a cav charge and then your arty decimates your horses. I even have the same problem redirecting arty to another area so I can assault the unit that the arty has been pounding with a hidden unit. I will click to another unit that is within the range and it still fires on the first for a few more vollies. Even tried the halt/click on other unit method. Seems the only way you can stop arty is to limber them, which sometimes isn't a very good idea. Anyone else having the same problem? I have no problem with infantry stopping immediatly with cav charges. I mean nothings sweeter than keeping a line busy with skirmishers to get blind sided by your cav at the last second!!!!

well i didn't played Napoleon but i must admitt i had similiar problem. Did you have "Fire at will" mode on? If yes turn it off than stop arty bcoz this mode makes artillery completly automatic

That just happened to me last night. I told my Puckel Guns to stop firing and to start firing in a different direction so I could move some troops in front of them. Well I looked away to another part of the battle and before I could stop them the Puckels killed a couple hundred guys. There are a couple tweaks that I'd like to see but overall it's a great game.

Yeah,I tried it with fire at will off and it still did it?
