How do you set up industries? iv never seen this be for in the game.

you'll need to have town if i recall, and then you just need to supply them with materials. ( you have to visit the shop to start it)

You need to speak with the Guild Master in town and inquire about buying land for a new industry. Provided you have the necessary funds, no materials are necessary, though they can increase your profit margin once production starts, they will start building a industrial building of your choice, which is typically finished in 7 days or more, depending on whether you're playing vanilla or not.
