Okay, maybe I missed something because I couldn't play Beyond Divinity (though from what I can tell, that didn't actuall add anything to the Divinity universe), but there seems to be a giant hole in the backstory.

I played through Divine Divinity several times and subsequently Divinity II even more. But on every occasion I'm left wondering what happened between the Divine and the Dragons. I mean, everyone you talk to about it in DII says the Dragons killed the Divine and that's why they're hunted to near-extinction, but I'm left wondering about why/when/how/where did this happen...?

It just seems like it jumped right over that part of the story thinking you wouldn't care. So my question is this: is the killing of the Divine explained in Beyond Divinity (damn incompatibility issues), or is it the whole thing just "take a guess at it yourelf"?

If I missed it in BD, I don't suppose anyone would mind giving me a quick overview of what happened?

While I have Beyond Divinity, I never got into it, I don't really like old games a whole lot, but the way I understand it is, that when Damien stabbed the Divine in the back (figurative or literally, don't really know), the people blamed the Dragon Knights because they were the only ones who could have gotten close enough to do the deed. So Damiens betrayal of the Divine lead to people hating the Knights, but most all ready hated them because they lorded their power over them so much...did you see the tower you had to go into? That thing is massive...

Part of the backstory is told in Ego Draconis, I can't remember it well enough, but the gist of it is that the dragon knights were framed, the divine's fall was made to look like they did it.

As most of them were already acting like *******s because of their powers, people swallowed the lie hook-line-and sinker.

I can't tell it properly, so try and play the game with all it's side-quests, little caves/dungeons, etc. There's a lot of lore lost if you only follow the main quest of an RPG.

Hmm... I seem to remember that vaguely actually. I can't quite remember who I talked to and where... guess I'll just have to go looking! ......Again.

    Thanks though ^_^

It helps to read the books in the game as well. Many of them detail the parts of the lore that aren't fully elaborated on in dialog.
