Not his opinion but clearly stated on their info pages. If it's a lie, prove it!

Ahem... Let me prove with this: porting such a big game on a new engine would require no less than two years. So unless they have a time machine... You got the idea?

On their site it says "improved engine". Surely they consider adding a few shader and lightning effects improving the engine. Advertising it as an "engine overhaul" is light years far from truth, somewhere close to the lie nebula.

Still, how do I like it? Aside from more shiny armor, nothing has really changed from Ego Draconis (with latest patch). How do I like more of the same? I like it the same. Hope it answers your question.

So you can be just as rude in two threads? Well done, congratulations.

Granted, it isn't a new engine. It's greatly optimised with some improvements. Which is what they claimed. They never claimed they made a new engine. The mistake the OP made is their own, not Larians.

Sometimes I grow tired of confrontational smartasses...
As always, conclusions are being drawn, opinions made in your mind, and tempers flared for no better reason than to prove you are smarter than others.

If you bothered to read my little, apparently flame-igniting, post, then you would have noticed at no point have I said anything about better graphics.

Better shaders? fine. Better lighting? fine. Frankly I don't give a damn about the graphic improvements, such as they are.

I remarked upon the fact that character movement and camera movement is much improved, compared to it's first iteration. Said movement is now fluid, as opposed to sprite-like. Yes, that's how the original felt like for me, like a game made purely of 2-Dimensional sprites.

If that's a result of a slightly optimized/overhauled/otherwise modified graphic engine, fine, I don't care.

For me, personally, the game is improved. The means by which this was achieved are as irrelevant as your first post, dear singlerose.

It's much more heavily optimized on top of the graphical touch-ups.

For example, in the original Ego Draconis with latest patch, the facial animations and such all seemed a little choppy or artificial to me, while the DKS version is smooth and much more human in comparison.

In addition, the latest Ego Draconis patch suffered from much heavier and much harder to relieve memory leaks and performance drop on extended play, of which the easiest fix was saving, exiting to desktop, restarting the game completely, loading the game. Dragon Knight Saga however, has significantly larger periods before performance drop and can be just as effectively fixed with a quick-save and quick-load.

Gamebryo has been around since 2001 and The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall was the game that put it on the map (As well as Bethesda and TES in general), and it's had overhauls for nearly every new game made with it. Morrowind used Gamebryo, Oblivion used Gamebryo, Fallout 3 and New Vegas used gamebryo, Divinity 2, Flames of Vengeance, and Dragon Knight Saga used Gamebryo, and with each new patch and release the engine gets just that much better optimized and easily fixed.

I just wish I could set DKS to use 1600x1200 resolution instead of it being capped at my monitor's native resolution of 1024x768...
    Yo.

But anyway, i would like to request to have this thread/post removed due to it practically going nowhere.....sheeesh people cannot even state how they like a game anymore without getting flamed.

Your right... People are just plain cruel as of late. Can't speak your piece without fear of someone criticizing your own criticisms. Kinda lame.

    Onto the game though.

I didn't play the original release. And seeing this new release for a decent price, I figured what the hey. I had read the original game had some drawbacks but the story and lore and whatnot were topnotch - so that was my whole reasoning for purchase. And so far I haven't really been disappointed. I'm gonna hold back on any real criticism until I've finished the game. But you can tell there are some area's of the game that could probably still use some polish. But it looks, plays, and runs well enough.
