I dug up the old one last month because I never got too far the first time I installed it, and after starting a new game I remembered just why I didn't get too far... it was a horrible engine.

The graphics/game mechanics were the same, but even on a 1280x800 resolution every inch you moved the camera to look around, you FELT each row of pixels shift, like the camera needed anti-aliasing or something... it was really weird. I stuck to it for a bit because I knew the story is nice, but I gave up on it.

Now this comes out and boasts a new game engine. It did not fail to deliver.

Everything max, graphic detail is beautiful. The movement is fluid, as opposed to blocky. It feels just right, you know what I mean? I can actually enjoy this game now.

I usually omit games made by germans because the engines they make are crappy at best, unbearable at worst. Despite that, though, they've still got the best story-writers around. US-made games can boast a good engine (game and graphic), but when it comes to content they fail miserably (4-hour games, or games made for multi-player with single-player as an after-thought).

Uhh... You can't be so naive. NEW engine? You seriously believe they actually ported the game on the NEW engine? I mean, come on, I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard.

All they did was improving lightning and adding more shader effects. That's all. Unless you mean high resolution textures? No, they added it in the patch to Ego Draconis long ago, it's nothing new.
So I repeat, the only new things in Dragon Knight Saga are more shiny armor and better lightning. That's all. And that isn't much at all.

So I'll conclude that there aren't enough graphical enhancements to make any reasonable comparison.

You don't have to be so condescending.... his opinion is his opinion.
He played the old game, and didn't like how it looks.
He played the remastered version, and now likes it.
How is that being naive ? He may not know exactly what new engine means, but that is not the point, it LOOKS better to him....so chill with the menstrual cycle?

yes his opinion is his own, it just so happens to be wrong

naive - having or showing a lack of experience, judgment, or information

i played the original, thought it was a good game, remastered vs old seems somewhat negligible to me, but it adds a bunch more content, and polishes a bunch of other things

Not his opinion but clearly stated on their info pages. If it's a lie, prove it! They also uses to use a mixed engine. Maybe they changed it around somewhat?
Not only the lighting looks better, just about everything does.
Too bad it's still running DX9....

How can an "experiential opinion" be wrong ? From his personal experience, he thinks/feels the game is better, when he turns the camera now, its much better to him, my goodness, he is wrong for that? If you are targeting him for his statement on the engine, that is beyond petty, you don't need a computer certificate stamped on your forehead that says you need to use the word engine in your sentence.

As for Naive and your definition of the word naive.
lack of experience? how can he have lack of experience with something he experienced ?
lack of judgment? How can he lack judgment, when his judgment was simply harmless pleasure at the new graphical look? And how can he lack information, when the developers themselves said they are using a new engine?

But anyway, i would like to request to have this thread/post removed due to it practically going nowhere.....sheeesh people cannot even state how they like a game anymore without getting flamed.

You asked for opinions and everybody has a different one.To me its the same game with some bugs gone a few graphic touch ups that all.Combat is still tedious when it takes 5 or more hits to kill a skeleton.
