Like many others ive been plagued by the random crashing, stuttering, gliding around and quests/radio that simply fail for no reason.

This thread is for posting solutions people have found for these problems. Please also write up what System you are running on so people can more easily relate to what might work for them.

I will point out the things that have fixed many issues for me:
Running Win 7 64-bit and Nvidia 285 gfxcard.

Nvidia cards in general: New Nvidia drivers released recently that includes many fixes for Fallout new vegas. Get them

Disable water effects -> made huge difference for me.
Launcher-> options-> water -> disable refraction/reflection put everything under water off or on low.

Things ive found that will make the game extremely unstable:
Using console to change your companions stats, like targetting bone in console and setav Strength 10.

Using the trainer: don't keep unlimited ammo on, made things crash more often for me.

Things that have helped other people:
Dll fix (didn't need it after nvidia update and water tweaking personally): www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778

Stutter remover (works for some people, not so much on 64 bit): www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34832

These last 2 are supposed to fix the issue with the engine using 64 hz and if you got 60 hz screen it would cause the stuttering according to some forums.

Crashing due to perks: If you wanna use the euclid's C-finder (archimedes). don't pick up the "Heave'ho" perk or use the console to remove it if you have. Game will CTD.

About the quests, yes its freakin annoying that you have to things like do X quest first before Y or X will fail for no apparent reason.
Ive started turning to the wiki before i do any quest to see what it might screw up if i do it at that time.

Was not aware there was a new driver that was released, so went and install the new Nividia Driver for my system and now the Intro is broken with glitches everywhere... Cannot get out of Doc's House

    Bah.....

Updating. Have found that the glitch is massive NPC lag. Even when I lowered my resolution and graphics to 800/900 and graphical settings set to low, still get the npc lag glitch.

Looks like will have to wait for another driver update in Nov or Dec and hope it fixes this glitch or at least another patch for the game that will fix the npc lag glitch.

if thats the case that the new drivers made things worse just roll back to your last set of drivers. Thats if you didnt do a clean install?

The npc lag is what the dll's are supposed to fix, especially lots of npcs cause huge slowdowns and crashes. You might want to try those. Ive started a new game with the new drivers and haven't gotten the problem your having with crashing at the doctor, have you enabled some trainer cheats or something? That usually what i crash on, starting a game not noticing its been updated activate trainer option and boom to desktop.
Perhaps using the wrong version trainer on a patched game like i tend to do?

If new drivers are screwing you:
Did you do a clean install?
    Rollback to older driver?

Also found: Install the DirectX drivers that came with the game, supposedly helps for a few as well, update your drivers anyhow.

Well it did give me two options, upgrade and keep settings or a full install. Will try it again with a full install.

holy hell do they ever fix anything? downloaded nvidia update, and new NV update and guess what? still broken! now instead of fully crashing it just stops and freezes completely, first couple times going ctrl + alt + delete will kick it back to working but third time, it refuses to open not only that it completely screws up your resolution.
