That was quick. This is what happens when you have real professionals at work instead of just some game programmers that put out games with so many errors in them it takes a year to get the bugs out.

The updated trainer did come out impressivly fast, but.. I'm getting yet another auto update for the game right now as I type this. Keeping my fingers crossed that the trainer works with yet ANOTHER new patch. Do they not beta test games anymore so you don't have to put out this many patches on a new game or what?!?!

Brucifer et all,
No they Beta test. The problem is with so much speed now in the world of communication, everyone says something is broken even if it is how the programmer wanted it to be. Add to the fact that most companies have to worry about people torrenting the Betas of the games....
For example, the Patch that came out late last week completely changed Diplomacy. Now Diplomacy is "Broken." While I agree that Diplomacy in it's current form is kinda broken.... Then you get people who say "Goodie Huts are Broken, it is 3000BC and I have Mechanized Infantry in the game!
SO!
Ok so that is one problem.
The Other problem is that Game Production companies now have LEGAL and FINANCIAL issues if a late developing bug pushes games back too far. EG Spectrum Holobyte and Falcon 4.0. Falcon 4.0 was supposed to release in late 1994 or early 1995. It released in November 1998 (I have the original release binder in hand as I type this,)as SH was just out of Business, and Microprose, Sid Meyer's former company, had purchased the rights to Falcon 4.0. Now in defense of SH, Windows 95 did come out and completely change how memory worked on games and Falcon 4.0 is still TO DATE, the standard bearer for Modern Combat Flight Simulators.
There is a third problem. Look at the Forums on 2Kgames.com today to how many people ranted and raved that the DLC was not released until after 2PM EDT. 'I live in Australia, it is October 26th here and no DLC yet,' for example.
No imagine how many people would complain because a game got delayed. Now the gaming company has to devote extra resources to handle the complaints. IT IS NOT COST EFFECTIVE TO RELEASE A GAME LATE PERIOD.
It sucks but dem da breaks.
PS while I do work on one computer game (well Volunteer really,) I do not work for any of the companies mentioned and BARELY does 'my' game even fit into the same category as any of the games mentioned above.
On an aside, what are the chances of Sid Meyer doing another Strike Eagle game? I played them all! (including Vector CGA Graphics Strike Eagle I on my 8080!)
