Yes all console commands disable the steam achievemnets. Best idea play through the first time just using the trainer or do it the old fashoned way so you get your achievements then on second playthrough cheat your everloving heart out.

I know the pre-order mod doesn't, but does this and other mods disable steam achievements? I to feel the you should get a perk every level, it would make it much more interesting and give your character more depth, but it will have to wait till my second play though if it disables steam achievements.

Best idea for any game. They last much longer and feel much more fulfilled.

Actually you don't need a trainer at all, and you don't have to do a whole play-through to make the console cheat work. Start a new game, then add the cheats through the console command BEFORE leaving the doc's place for the first time. I made a batch file with all of the codes setting my health points, my carry weight points, my action points, added lots of pure H2O, and caravan lunches, weapons and lots of their ammos. I also added a command to set my level to max (99) and then got all of the perks and skills maxed and set movement speed (running is way slow in this game anyway). I saved the game after doing all of this, then quit, restarted from that save and have been getting achievements with no issues.

If one is only interested in getting through the game fast and getting the achievements, this works a treat. I also created modded weapons in the game using the Geck modder already released and made the weapons uber powerful.

Just create your own, it's very easy. Open a text file, and then type in the codes you want, for example (don't use the quotes, this is just to emphasize the name of the command only), type with spaces "player.setav speed 300", and that will make you run about 5 times faster. You can look up the codes for items and then type "player.additem itemcode". If you want a wearable or weapon item, be sure to state how many and the starting conditon, example; "player.additem itemcode 1 100" meaning you are getting one item fully in health (totally repaired).

Go to Fallout wiki and lookup console commands and you'll see what to use and the item codes are there as well.

Once you make the file, name it whatever you want, and then place it in this folder, "Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas". When in the game, simply type (no quotes) "bat filename" Don't add the extension to the file name, just the name of the file. Remember, you cannot keep loading this during the game or you won't get the achievements. I would also recommend making your own mod with the Geck for the weapons/armor/clothing you want to start with by getting them through the console and make them as you please.
