Modding weapons and armor with the Geck and using them in game will not affect achievements, but the console usage will. The only way around this is to start a new game and use the cheats you need before you leave out into the world for the first time and never use the console for the rest of the game. I created a Geck mod for a few weapons and a batch file so when used you are just totally off the wall powerful and maxed out. I have used the command to make them active before leaving into the world, and have gotten my achievements since..

i have never had any problems getting achievments even after using console cheats. i did the unlock cheat many time and still getting achivements. i did notice if i keep playing after entering the cheats i did not get achievments. so i saved quite and closed the steam then sterted it all again and i got the them no prob. dont know if im the only one but i have many of them and have used console cheats since i got the game

I put the .bat in the program directory and typed the name char at the console and it tells me it can't find it. Any help on this?

Nevermind. I forgot to put bat in front of the name.

Okay, Do you mean before you talk to Doc Mitchell, and it gives you the options of the playing hardcore, or after the option?

You do all that you can before leaving for the outside world, if choosing hardcore is part of that, then yes.

Best way to dodge this is to launch game, then disconnect from the internet, use console command, save the game, restart the game (with connection).

You don't even need to disconnect from the net at all. I have done this connected, saved the game, and just exited out of Vegas and Steam. I restarted the game and I have gotten two more achievements so far.
