I think i've figured it out. I started the game, got to an action part, alt-tab'd to my desktop and opened the trainer. Hit F1 from my desktop got the "Trainer Activated" and then got the pop up to update it. Waited a minute or 2 and got the new .dat file. I closed the game and the trainer. Reopened the trainer and restarted the game and it seemed to work.

andymutz posted the following from the previous thread, if you follow the instructions exactly the trainer will work
ok, i got this trainer working with the newest updates for the game. i tried it two times and the first time it didn't work, so maybe this detailed description of what i did, can be of help to anyone who also cannot get it working.. this is what i tried first: delete CHLFD2.dat launch trainer launch game start offline campaign kill a few zombies press F1 kill a few more zombies quit the game press OK to update the trainer wait press OK to quit the trainer restart the trainer restart the game press F1 in the menu start offline campaign press desired option keys
now this method didn't work, the trainer options didn't get enabled.
so in my second attempt, i did the following: delete CHLFD2.dat launch trainer launch game start offline campaign kill a few zombies press F1 kill a few more zombies press ALT+TAB to switch out of the game press OK to update the trainer wait press OK to quit the trainer switch back into the game quit the game restart the trainer restart the game press F1 in the menu start offline campaign press desired option keys
