What I've found is if you don't activate ANY social policy the unhappiness stays normal. Also, the "*" Max Unit XP option works, but not the "/" super unit. You really dont need super unit if you create enough Max Units.
There are only two forces in the world, the sword and the spirit. In the long run the sword will always be conquered by the spirit.

One way to avoid this is to only adopt policies without the trainer on. After you adopt the policies you want, save the game and then reload with the trainer back on. You get the benefits of the policy and no unhappiness. A bit of a pain but it works!

actually it is the third policy "Honor" that has something to do with your military units. Also(not confirmed) other policy that has anything to do with your military units. At start of the game first two work and there is no negative score for happines. But if you select third one you will get negative effect.

I am currently sitting with 729,052 UNHAPPINESS! Not sure which trainer feature triggered it, but I would love to find a way to reset it! Apparently you can't build any new cities when everyone is so ****ed!
Anyone know of a work-around for building cities and/or a way to reset the happiness level?

Hmm, in my game the bug seems to be affecting the AI as well. A Great Work was completed, stating everyone's happiness. Mine was at the top in the positives, with the second highest being -1000 something and the lowest in the -20000s Also, it doesn't quite seem to matter when the trainer is activated for me, it automatically resets everyone's culture to grow at a high rate (by 350 BC, the borders of cities at opposite ends of Africa were expanding and almost touching each other). Even the city-states were affected and their borders were expanding extremely fast.
It seems that just having the trainer activated does this, even if you don't use any of the codes.
I'm using the steam deluxe version, running Vista.

I have not the exact same problem but something similar.
When i use the "Max Unit XP" option (and it doenst matter if i disable it after use) and conquer a few citys it happens that my policy point grow up to 500000 points per round. When it exactly happens i cant figure out (i think between 200-300 turns). Until the point comes that i cant end the turn because it isnt possible to choose a new politic.
Can someone confirm this?

It seems to correlate (spelling?) directly to policy's that enhance happines (Freedom and Piety branches). It happens if you have max unit XP activated and select a city (which for some reason adds an unholy amount of policy points) OR if you use 6 (add policy points) and then choose a policy that adds happines.
All other Policy's work just fine. Havent gotten around to test more, put its certain that only policy's that enhance happines couse this glitch)
Sorry for the bad spelling/grammar ...i'm fromm germany
