Would someone please explain the purpose of the speed limiter to me. I have used it once and I seem to be able to go as fast as I want even when it is on.

from what i've heard, its purpose in mafia 2 either mission specific, like in chapter 3, when you need to drop that woman off at the hospital so visit some ailing relative or whoever and she gives you info on breaking into that government building you need to break into. or it can supposedly help to make cornering and driving easier. Again, this is just what i've heard.

its to make sure the cops dont pull you over for speeding.

you know irl you go fast you get a ticket, game = based on real life.

But could someone explain to me how it helps you not to speed since as I said before when I have it one I can go as fast as I want?

you can go as fast as 40 mph on roads and 60 on highways with the speed limiter on the speed limiter is on when the speedomoter goes red. if its not red it isnt on simple as that

Well i think it is a broken feature because unless my eyesight is going I was doing more then forty on city streets and not on the highway.

or u just cant figure it out cuz i've beaten the game twice now and it all works fine for me. great for runnin down the road as fast as u want until u see a cop then hit it and slows u down alot faster then braking so u dont get the attention of the police.

maybe your version is just glitched, is there a patch for this game yet, maybe that'll help, or maybe it's something to with your light settings, if it's set too high you might not be able to see it, also, check your keyboard if you're using one or controller if you're using that, if it sticks that might be your problem, and be sure you're pressing the right button, i don't know about the 360 or ps3 versions, but in the pc version the tutorial that tells you how use the speed limiter looks a lot like the letter (i) when it's the(L)key they're talking about, which the lower case version of looks quite similar to.
