If so, it will give you a bonus sponsorship from the start. For me it was a Ping Sponsorship with a $50,000 signing bonus and $500 per item worn. To see what this means, see the sponsorship section below. - Tiger Woods 2002 save files DO count. - Tiger Woods 2001 save files will NOT count. - Other EA Sports Titles from 2003 will not give you a sponsorship, but will give you a cash bonus. - You can reject the bonus if you want to start from scratch. - I haven't played any other EA 2004 titles, so I'm not sure what happens when you boot up after having played Madden 2004 or some other title. - According to 'jurell' from IGN.com message boards, EA 2004 save titles like Madden 04 give you extra cash. He also says that EA 2002 titles of any type will not count. Thanks 'jurell'! - After you see the introductory movies, press the start button to move to the menu. In order to do anything, you'll have to create your golfer first. This mode is the single biggest improvement (or change - whatever your opinion) to the game. See the "Create a Golfer" chapter below on how to do this. - Once you've done this, I recommend you create your "EA Bio". This is the first year they've done this. If you've already played Madden 2004 or NCAA Football 2004, you probably have already done this. - To do this, go to "My Tour". Click on your golfer's name. The first option that comes up is the "EA Bio". Click on it. It will give you a warning on the save file size, and create it for you once you click "OK". - The EA Bio will track your playing time and the 2004 EA Games that you play. This will unlock certain items in the pro shop when you reach a certain EA Bio level. - You'll need to save your EA Bio every time you quit the game to ensure you get credit. You do this by going to "My Tour" again, clicking on the bio, and pressing the save button. - After that, it's up to you which mode you do next. See the chapters below for help! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3) GAME MODES A) Scenarios - These are 30 "challenging" pre-set scenarios that have a pre-set score you need to achieve. Based on your score, you get a Bronze, Silver, or Gold medal. Getting all 30 Gold medals is not easy! Good luck! See Chapter 4 for more details on the scenarios. - You get one scenario right off the bat when you create your golfer. It's the tutorial on how to play called "Tour Card". One free gold medal basically! B) World Tour Mode - This is the mode that used to be called Tiger Challenge in Tiger Woods 2002 and 2003. I think they've done a good job of cleaning this up this year. It gives you lots of flexibility on what you want to do next. - This is match play against various fantasy and real pro golfers. - The one "fault" in this year's mode is that the Tour Cards are not directly tied to your progress as they were in the past. - See Chapter 5 below for more details. C) PGA Tour Season Mode - A much improved full PGA Tour Season that you can play with your created golfer. Each tournament is a 4 day Thursday through Sunday event like the real tour. There are still simulated features to this, such as having a tournament at more than one course, but it's really neat. - See Chapter 6 below for more details. D) Arcade Modes - This is the "fun" stuff. Mostly good for multiplayer fun. There are 4 types including "SkillZone", "Battle Golf", "Speed Golf", and "Long Drive Shootout" modes. - See Chapter 7 below for more details. E) Real Time Events - Possibly one of the coolest features, there are events scheduled to occur on certain dates based on the internal clock of your system. For example, every full moon, there's a special event that you can win. The prizes are usually unlocked items in the pro shop, in addition to cash. - See Chapter 8 below for more details. F) Traditional Games - This is where the multiplayer is at, as well as "normal" golf if you just want to hack around for a while without worrying about a tournament or a World Tour mode. - 8 Modes: stroke, match, skins, practice, stableford, alternate shot, best ball, and fourball. - See Chapter 9 below for more details. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4) SCENARIOS Notes: 1) Scenarios are preset modes. Trophy Balls, Records, Longest Drives, Eagles and everything else DO NOT COUNT while doing scenarios. 2) You only have to get all 30 bronze medals (actually 29 bronze and the 1 automatic gold medal) in order to get the scenario completion trophy ball. 3) Gold Medals do unlock items in the pro shop though, so you do eventually need to get all gold medals to complete everything in the game. 4) Scenarios can be played in any order. The tougher ones tend to be towards the bottom of the list. 5) My recommendation: finish the World Tour first, build up your character, then do the scenarios. It's alot easier to do some of these with a built up character. Scenario List: -------------- 1) Tour Card "Earn your Bronze Tour Card while learning how to play" - Note: this mode is automatic before you can play the game. It'll take your very best to win the gold!" - 4 holes Gold: 14 Silver: 16 Bronze: 19 26) SZ Challenge 2 "The timer's set. Get out to the skillzone and fire away!" - Time limited skillzone challenge. - 90 seconds to start. You can earn extra time by hitting accurate shots. Time to turn the tables and win the match!" - 6 holes. You start 2 down. Bethpage Black course. Gold: 2 UP Silver: 1 UP Bronze: Playoff (you have to win the playoff) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 5) WORLD TOUR MODE - Notes: 1) Match play format - scoring works hole by hole. If you win the hole you go "1 UP". If you lose the hole, you go "1 DOWN". Play continues to the end of the course or until a player is mathematically eliminated. On the final hole before mathematical elimination, the player is considered "DORMIE." That means you have to win all the remaining holes to force a playoff. If you do not, the match ends. The final tally is scored as "X & Y". The X stands for how many holes up you were. The Y stands for how many holes you did not have to play. On an 18 hole course, the best score you can get is a "10 & 8". 2) Round 1 is always the front 9 holes of a course instead of the full 18. 3) The compilation courses are just random holes from the previous three courses in that region. 4) Tiger's Dream 18 is a compilation course. It is NOT Penguin Falls. Penguin Falls was in Tiger Woods 2002 as Tiger's Dream 18. In Tiger Woods 2003, they left that course out. They returned it this year as it's own course. Gamecube owners do NOT have Penguin Falls. Sorry! 5) Trophy Balls can be earned here, as well as records made. Any eagles you make count towards your Eagle Hunt. Some trophy balls cannot be earned in the World Tour, such as Birdie Streak, Birdie Buster, Back to Back Eagles, Low Round, and a few others. Each hole is played independently of each other. 6) When you win a match, you a) win cash, b) you unlock the golfer you played, c) you sometimes unlock one of the holes on Tiger's Dream 18, and d) you some- times unlock certain courses in the game (based on your earnings - see Chapter 11 for the earnings needed to unlock each course). - The prizes I've listed below I can only guarantee if you follow the World Tour "in order". The correct order is to do round 1 through each region in numbered order. Then you do round 2 through each region in numbered order. 7) The rounds without prizes listed are ones I haven't confirmed again yet. Since I didn't write all this down the first time I went throug the game, I'm having to play through again and write down the prizes. - Region 1 - US Northwest - Yellow on the map - Round 1: Poppy Hills - Opponent Val "Sunshine" Summers - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #2 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Sunshine" - Round 2: Sahalee Country Club - Opponent John Daly - Prize $200,000, unlocks hole #8 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 3: Spyglass Hill - Opponent Jim Furyk - Prize: $400,000 - Round 4: Compilation 1 - Opponent Cedric "Ace" Andrews - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Ace", unlocks hole #18 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Region 2 - US Southwest - Purple on the Map - Round 1: TPC Scottsdale - Opponent Felicia "Downtown" Brown - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #3 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Downtown" - Round 2: Pebble Beach - Opponent Rich Beem - Prize $200,000 - Round 3: Torrey Pines - Opponent Notah Begay III - Prize: $400,000, unlocks hole #9 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 4: Compilation 2 - Opponent Melvin "Yosh" Tanigawa - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Yosh", unlocks hole #17 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Region 3 - US East - Orange on the Map - Round 1: Bethpage Black - Opponent Kellie Newman - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #4 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks Newman - Round 2: Bay Hill Club - Opponent Ty Tryon - Prize $200,000 - Round 3: Pinehurst No. 2 - Opponent Charles Howell III - Prize: $400,000, unlocks hole #10 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 4: Compilation 3 - Opponent Dominic "The Don" Donatello - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "The Don" - Region 4 - Europe - Blue on the Map - Round 1: Royal Birkdale - Opponent Justin Rose - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #5 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks Rose - Round 2: St. Andrews - Opponent Colin Montgomerie - Prize: $200,000 - Round 3: The Highlands - Opponent Jesper Parnevik - Prize: $400,000, unlocks hole #11 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 4: Compilation 4 - Opponent Hamish "Mulligan" McGregor - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Mulligan" - Region 5 - Pacific - Red on the Map - Round 1: Princeville Resort - Opponent Edwin "Pops" Masterson - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #6 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Pops" - Round 2: Kapalua Plantation - Opponent Vijay Singh - Prize: $200,000 - Round 3: Emerald Dragon - Opponent Takeharu "Tsunami" Moto - Prize: $400,000, unlocks "Tsunami" - Round 4: Compilation 5 - Opponent Solita Lopez - Prize: $600,000, unlocks Solita Lopez - Region 6 - Southern Hemisphere - Green on the Map - Round 1: Black Rock Cove - Opponent Moa "Big Mo" Ta'a Vatu - Prize $75,000, unlocks hole #7 in Tiger's Dream 18, unlocks "Big Mo" - Round 2: Wallaby Creek - Opponent Adam Scott - Prize: $200,000, unlocks hole #12 in Tiger's Dream 18 - Round 3: The Predator - Opponent Retief Goosen - Prize: $400,000 - Round 4: Compilation 6 - Opponent Erika "Ice" Von Severin - Prize: $600,000, unlocks "Ice" - "Region 7" - "Round 1": Tiger's Dream 18 - Opponent Sunday Tiger Woods - Prize $1,000,000, unlocks Sunday Tiger Woods, $1,000,000 bonus for World Tour Trophy Ball ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 6) PGA TOUR SEASON MODE Notes: 1) Tournaments are like they are in real life: Thursday through Sunday, 4 rounds each. 2) These are stroke play, meaning that your score is tallied for each hole and made cumulative through the round. 3) Your under par (or over par if you're struggling) score is cumulative through the tournament for leader board purposes. For example, you may be 10 under for the round, but 40 under for the tournament. 4) All trophy balls, records, eagles, etc. count here. This is where you "make your money" so to speak. 5) Sponsorships only count here! This is also where you "make your money". See Chapter 21 for more details on sponsorships. 6) Many of the Tracking Tiger Trophy Balls are based around your tour stats, results, and the like. See the Tracking Tiger section in Chapter 17 for more details. 7) If the tournament has all four rounds played at one location, such as the first tournament at Kapalua, then those tournaments start with the pins in "Easy" location on Day 1, on Day 2 they're in the "Medium" location, on Day 3 "Hard", and on Day 4 "Expert". 8) If the tournament is played at different courses, such as the King's Trail Championship, then the pins are usually at medium or worse difficulty on each day. 9) Each tournament tees off from the black tees "Hard". 10) The purse is cumulative - meaning that the purse is the sum total of all winnings, from first through last. You only win a share of that, even if you win the tournament. You have to make the "cut" in order to be "in the money." If you don't make the cut, then you earn no money. 11) If a tournament starts in one month and ends in the next, it counts towards the later month for "player of the month" standings and the like. 12) The purses vary based upon your performance. I was going to try and figure this out, but it's a little complicated. They do start around $1.5 million purses, and work their way up from there. I've heard that the purses in the second season can approach $9 million for the same tournaments. The AI performance improves, but not drastically so. The best I've seen in the first season, about half way through, is -28 by the AI. If you win the hole, you get to remove one of your opponent's clubs. Continues until one player wins. 2) Skillzone - An accuracy game. There are different "courses" where you try and aim for various bullseyes and other moving targets. The closer you are to the bullseye, the more points you get. - There are bonus balls that give you multipliers. - There are two scenarios that make you play the skillzone. This is the only "mandatory" Arcade Mode in the game. - Five skillzone modes: 1) Target - 20 balls, hit targets for cash 2) target2target - CPU picks the bullseyes, hit for cash 3) Timed - 90 seconds, bonus time for accurate shots 4) Capture - 2 player mode, hit bullseye to lock target, first one to 5 targets wins, you can steal opponents targets before they're locked 5) T-I-G-E-R - similar to H-O-R-S-E. You make a shot. Your opponent has to make the same shot or they get a letter. The first to spell TIGER loses. 3) Speed Golf - "This is NOT your Daddy's golf game." - You have to rush to get it into the hole. Your time counts more than your score, but accuracy helps your time since you don't have to hit the ball as much. - You can play vs. the CPU or vs. another player. 4) Long Drive Shootout - This is a competitive long drive challenge. You try and hit it the farthest you can, while getting close to the white line as you can. - You can get bonus points for hitting the white line. - This is a 2 to 4 player game. - There are 5 "courses" with increasing difficulty. - There are three modes: 1) Total Distance - The total yardage of your drives is tallied. First one to pass the total distance wins. You can set the total distance to 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, or 7000 yards. 2) Total Balls - The total yardage of your drives is tallied. This time you are limited to the number of balls you set from the start. You can set the number of balls to 5, 10, or 15. 3) Longest Drive - The longest drive wins! You can set the number of balls available to 5, 10, or 15. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 8) REAL TIME EVENTS Notes: 1) This is a new mode this year. Based on the internal system clock, there are certain events that pop up on certain days, such as on holidays and player birthdays. 2) The prizes for winning these events, which are like mini-scenarios, include a cash prize (usually around $15,000) and unlocked items in the pro shop. 3) You can "cheat" and change your system clock to play the events you've missed or the events that you have yet to play if you don't want to wait. 4) Since I haven't cheated ahead very far yet, the game won't let me see what's coming in Feb 2004 or beyond. I'll post that as soon as I find out what's there. 5) "Lou" wrote to tell me that the Father's Day and Stuart Appleby's Birthday RTE's are only available in 2005. He also writes that the RTE's end in 2006. 6) Finally, I've had people email me that they have a 76/74 completion. Seems like a glitch to me. You win based on stroke count on each hole. 3) Skins - 2 to 4 players. Instead of strokes, you play for cash on each hole. If no one wins the hole, the skin rolls over to the next hole. 4) Practice - Just like it says. You pick the course, you pick the lie, and you hammer away until you've had enough. 5) Stableford - Instead of scoring, this works off of a point system. -1 for a bogey, 0 for par, 2 for a birdie, 5 for an eagle, 8 for a double eagle. -3 for a double bogey or worse. - Note that this is a modified stableford scoring system. Not standard. 6) Alternate Shot - Two teams of two players compete. Teammates alternate shots until ball is in the hole. Teammates also alternate tee shots. 7) Best Ball - Best individual score for each hole counts as the team score for that hole. 8) Four Ball - Same as best ball, but under a match play scoring system. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 10) CUSTOMIZABLE SOUNDTRACKS (XBox only!) - To do this, you must have "ripped" music to your XBox hard drive using the XBox dashboard. - Then you go to Options in the menu and select customizable soundtracks in the EA Trax menu. It's that easy! - Apparently you can't pick and choose which songs from your XBox hard drive you want to play. But you can choose "Repeat" mode or "Shuffle" mode. You can also deselect all of the EA Trax so that only "your" music is playing during the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 11) ONLINE PLAY (PS2 only!) - If you want to play me online, email me. My online name is BW26. - The first time you logon, you'll first be asked to create an EA Account. This is different than your EA Profile which is what you create next. The profile is basically your screen name. This is what everyone will see when they see you in the lobbies, or play against you. - Then you'll be connected to the servers. First it connects to your ISP, then it authenticates DNAS, then it connects to the servers. - Note: I have had glitches occur before while moving through the menus. One of the scarier ones erased all my settings in both the offline mode and the online mode. Luckily none of my progress in the game was erased. Play online with caution! - Online Menus: 1) Quick Play - Connects you to the current online tournament underway. 2) Online Game Modes a) Match Play b) Stroke Play 1) Game Lobbies 2) Leaderboard 3) Statistics 4) Golfers of the Week c) Online Tournaments 1) Calendar 2) Daily Leaderboards 3) Weekly Money Leaders 4) Golfers of the Week 5) Tournament Winners 3) My Online a) My Game Setup - Set up your default options for when you challenge someone 1) Course 2) Ranked Game (on or off) 3) Shot clock (maximum amount of time each golfer can take with each shot) 4) Holes (all 18, back or front nine) 5) Tees 6) Pins 7) Green Speed 8) Fairway Speed 9) Rough Length b) My Quick Messages - For those without a headset, this is the quickest way to get your messages out c) My Resume - Similar to your resume in offline play, but set up for your online stats. 4) Online Extras - This is EA Sports news and information, including outages and updates - You can also use the EA Messenger here and view the Membership Agreement ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 12) COURSE BY COURSE TIPS Notes: 1) I'm not listing every possible way to play each hole, just the methods that I think work best. If you have a better method, let me know! I'll try it out and possibly include it if it works (and give you credit). 2) For the uninitiated, handicap on each hole is the difficulty compared to the other holes on that course. Thus on each course, HDCP #1 is the hardest hole on the course. In real life, they calculate these based off of average scores handed in to the pro shop. - There's even a scenario labeled "Handicap #1" with nothing but those hard holes! - The transverse is also true: Handicap #18 should be the easiest. - However, in reality, this is somewhat contrived. They actually only use odd or even numbers on the front nine, and the opposite on the back nine. Thus if the hardest hole is actually on the back nine, but the back nine is all "even" numbers, then it will be Handicap #2, even though it's the hardest hole on the course. 3) Postcard hole means the hole that the game shows during the loading scene. In real life, they're sometimes called Signature holes. For example, the #17 at TPC Sawgrass is probably one of the most famous holes in the world. 4) Course difficulty: this is the game's difficulty rating that they give it. I tend to disagree with some of them. But the difficulty does matter on the cash you receive. See Chapter 20 on Tour Cards for how that works. - For example, the Emerald Dragon is considered an easy course. Ha! - For example, the TPC Sawgrass is a medium course. Ha! I tend to get some of my highest scores on that course. 5) I've also included real websites for the real courses that I could find. Those websites are trademarks of their respective owners. Some are very cool. For example, Kapalua's website has animated walkthroughs of several holes, with real footage of the course. This shows you the attention to detail that EA put into each course - magnificent! 6) All information below assumes a fully powered up character (or close to it), and teeing off from the black tees. Thus if I say you can make it over a gorge or something like that, but your character is not powered up, you might want to "lay up" instead. But, if you're playing from the white tees or blue tees, you may wish to be more aggressive than I've shown below. Use caution either way! 7) The following courses are available from the beginning: - Pebble Beach - Torrey Pines - Spyglass Hill - Poppy Hills - St. Andrews - Royal Birkdale - Princeville Resort - Kapalua Plantation - TPC Sawgrass - TPC Scottsdale - Bay Hill Club - Bethpage Black - Sahalee Country Club - Pinehurst No. 2 8) These courses require certain things to unlock them: - Black Rock Cove - $100,000 earnings - The Highlands - $400,000 earnings - Penguin Falls - $750,000 earnings - Wallaby Creek - $1,000,000 earnings - The Predator - $1,500,000 earnings - Emerald Dragon - $2,000,000 earnings - Tiger's Dream 18 - Completing various holes in the World Tour (see Chapter 5) ------------------------------------------------------ --> Pebble Beach (Course Difficulty = Medium) http://www.pebblebeach.com/1.html Par 72, 6,737 yards 1) Par 4, 376 yards, handicap 8 - Use a slice to line up with the green 2) Par 5, 502 yards, handicap 10 - Straight par-5 with a wide fairway 3) Par 4, 374 yards, handicap 12 - Hook it hard to get really close to the green. 4) Par 4, 327 yards, handicap 16 - Driveable, even though it's uphill. Use spin accordingly. 5) Par 3, 187 yards, handicap 14 - Across the water. Green is fairly flat. 6) Par 5, 500 yards, handicap 2 - Split fairways - second shot is uphill. Green slopes to the front. 7) Par 3, 106 yards, handicap 18 - Downhill, but fairly straight forward. Just don't use your power boost. 8) Par 4, 416 yards, handicap 6 - Don't go for far fairway without favorable winds. Otherwise, lay-up. 9) Par 4, 462 yards, handicap 4 - Possible to get long drives here. The ball will roll downhill and to the right. 10) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 7 - Aim left since the ball will roll right. 11) Par 4, 373 yards, handicap 5 - Uphill, but drive away! 12) Par 3, 201 yards, handicap 17 - Long, downhill par-3. 13) Par 4, 393 yards, handicap 9 - Aim right since the ball will roll left. Green slopes to the left. 14) Par 5, 572 yards, handicap 1 - Tough par 5 - need a massive slice off the tee. Green is uphill. You'll need a 1 iron or 5 wood to get there. Green slopes to the front. 15) Par 4, 396 yards, handicap 13 - Driveable with favorable winds. Don't worry about the trees. You'll clear them. 16) Par 4, 401 yards, handicap 11 - Lay up with a fairway wood. 17) Par 3, 178 yards, handicap 15 - Shallow green. Be on your distance or use lots of backspin. 18) Par 5, 543 yards, handicap 3 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Nice wide fairway. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Emerald Dragon (Course Difficulty = Easy - YEAH RIGHT!!) Par 73, 8,264 yards 1) Par 5, 536 yards, handicap 13 - Aim short of bridge. Need another drive to the green which is shallow. 2) Par 4, 533 yards, handicap 3 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Aim for right fairway. You can't reach the left. Green is up hill on a plateau. 3) Par 3, 210 yards, handicap 15 - Very shallow green. 4) Par 4, 476 yards, handicap 5 - Aim left of both bunkers. You'll clear the trees and land in the fairway. 5) Par 4, 444 yards, handicap 7 - Bizarre stepped fairway. Aim for the fairway between the first 2 bunkers. Green is uphill and slopes to the front. 6) Par 5, 677 yards, handicap 11 - Aim for the far fairway. You'll make it. It's a downhill drive again to hit the green. 7) Par 5, 683 yards, handicap 9 - You have to lay up. Twice... Unless you've got gale force winds helping you. Green is uphill. Hardest par 5 to eagle in the game... If you've got a turbo controller, reaching the far fairway is possible, even from the blacks. Then from there, it's a reachable green. Just don't go beyond the green, you will bounce into the water. 8) Par 4, 565 yards, handicap 1 - Aim as close to the gap in the fairways as you can. Green is uphill. 9) Par 3, 206 yards, handicap 17 - Green is downhill. Severe slopes in back corners. 10) Par 4, 422 yards, handicap 6 - Fairway is narrow. Drive out as far as you can to line up. Green slopes away from the center in all directions. 11) Par 5, 698 yards, handicap 14 - Aim over the trees - you'll make it. Long drive to the green. You can use the tree on the front portion to slow the ball down. 12) Par 4, 587 yards, handicap 4 - Fairway is downhill. Aim just right of the big bunker. Long iron to the green. Green slopes harshly at the edges. 13) Par 4, 418 yards, handicap 8 - Lay up right of the bunkers. Gives you a cleaner shot at the elevated plateau green. 14) Par 3, 156 yards, handicap 18 - Coolest hole in the game. The dragon shaped hole. Shallow green that slopes away to the right and left. 15) Par 5, 694 yards, handicap 12 - "Lay up" unless you have lots of wind help. Another long drive to the green. It will be a close one unless you have wind help. Green slopes to the front. 16) Par 4, 367 yards, handicap 2 - Tough bunker in the middle of the fairway. Either lay up or aim right which will put you in a better line with the green. Green is two tiered, slopes to the right front. 17) Par 3, 189 yards, handicap 16 - Green has a "U" shape slope in the middle, but otherwise straight forward. 18) Par 4, 401 yards, handicap 10 - You can make the far fairway. It's downhill. Unless the wind is against you. You can even get a nice roll onto the green. ------------------------------------------------------ --> The Predator (Course Difficulty = Expert - believe it) Par 72, 8,276 yards 1) Par 4, 362 yards, handicap 11 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Possible to drive the green in one, but difficult from the black tees. Green slopes towards the left front. 2) Par 4, 502 yards, handicap 3 - Just lay up. Not worth trying to hook it closer to the hole. I use a 1 Iron off the tee and a 4 Iron to the hole. - Alternate method from "hoowaa" on Gamefaqs.com: - Aim left of the forked tree - try the practice mode for exact location of setup (it's on the up slope of the hill on the left over some rocks I seem to remember). Use 3 wood. Max Boost. Medium slice for righties. Spin Right. 3) Par 3, 209 yards, handicap 7 - Green is about 25 feet downhill. Also has a "false front". If you miss long when the pin is on the front half, the ball will roll away towards the center of the green. 4) Par 5, 749 yards, handicap 15 - This hole is the worst. Handicap 15?!? Yeah right. Toughest hole in the game. Eagling this one is tough... Aim just right of the first tree over the rock. You'll drop in on the fairway. Then it's a matter of threading the needle to the green. You can lay up to the right side and then try for a chip in eagle if you're worried about not making it. I often bogey this hole by being too aggressive and hitting it out of bounds. - Alternate Strategy from "hoowaa" on gamefaqs.com: - Choose a Driver 8-9 degree loft. Use a Punch Shot. Max Boost. Shoot straight (no fade/slice) ahead over the close rocks with forward spin moving your shot just ahead and a touch right of the bunker thats on the left side of the fairway ~350 yds from the black tees. You will have an "easy" 2nd shot at the green every time from here through the trees giving you a shot at Eagle as the green here is a simple one. 5) Par 4, 370 yards, handicap 13 - You'll have to drive it through the gap. If you don't, you can't hit the green. Don't over do the boost or you'll hit the trees and fall short. 6) Par 5, 719 yards, handicap 1 - Long par 5, but reachable, even from the blacks. Bomb it down the fairway on the left side. Then hit another drive to the green. You can bounce the ball or roll it onto the green by aiming right of the green. The fairway and the green slope to the left to funnel the ball into the green. 7) Par 3, 203 yards, handicap 17 - Green is somewhat shallow, but it slopes to the front. Beware too much backspin. I've rolled it right into the water before. 8) Par 4, 448 yards, handicap 9 - I always go left on this hole. Lines you up better with the green. You can drive it through the gap. 9) Par 4, 510 yards, handicap 5 - Aim straight ahead and drop in a drive. You'll get no roll, so don't worry about the traps. Then head straight for the green. You'll miss all the trees. Just remember that the green is 25 feet or so uphill. The green also slopes off heavily to the left front. 10) Par 4, 514 yards, handicap 14 - Go for the far fairway, but aim left so you don't hit the tree. Then the green is 25 feet downhill. Green has multiple slopes. 11) Par 4, 454 yards, handicap 8 - Possible to drive the green in one if you get a bounce off the fallen trees. The fairway is heavily sloped towards the green at the end, so you'll drive it. However, this is risky, so lay up if you think you won't make it. If you miss, it's out of bounds. Green is bowl shaped. 12) Par 5, 676 yards, handicap 18 - This is the shortcut hole. Easiest par-5 hole on the Predator to Eagle. Lay up on purpose. Use a fairway wood and aim just short of bunker on the right. Then turn left and aim over the "low" area in the ruins. You'll hit the green, which is massive. If you get the ball close, it's an eagle. If you don't get close, expect to three putt. 13) Par 4, 421 yards, handicap 4 - Use a fairway wood to hit the second fairway. Don't use too much boost. It's 90 feet downhill. The green is also 10 feet downhill. 14) Par 3, 207 yards, handicap 16 - Green is 165 or so feet downhill! Club down once and take a little off the backswing, or club down twice and use minimal boost. Green is wickedly tri- tiered. Beware backspin! 15) Par 4, 525 yards, handicap 2 - There's a gap in the trees to the right. Even if you hit a tree, you'll drop right in on the fairway. Make sure you use boost! The fairway is wide, so you'll make it. Green is shallow and slopes left. 16) Par 5, 627 yards, handicap 12 - Aim for the gap to the right of the third tree on the left. You will hit the trees, but it will drop down onto the fairway. Then go for the green. You'll probably hit trees again, but make it unless you hit the tree trunk square. 17) Par 3, 222 yards, handicap 6 - Green is shallow and slopes towards the center like a "U". 18) Par 4, 558 yards, handicap 10 - Aim right and long to straighten out the angle to the green. Green slopes towards the middle. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Black Rock Cove (Course Difficulty = Hard) Par 72, 6,926 yards 1) Par 4, 387 yards, handicap 14 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Aim for last fairway on the left if you have a maxed out character and the wind isn't against you. 2) Par 5, 602 yards, handicap 10 - With the wind, go for the fairway on the other side. Otherwise lay up. 3) Par 4, 481 yards, handicap 2 - Aim for the far fairway. Aim left if into the wind. 4) Par 4, 367 yards, handicap 8 - Aim for the upper fairway. Straighter shot at the pin. If you want to risk it, blast it off the rocks on the mountain and hope for a bounce to the green. 5) Par 4, 411 yards, handicap 6 - If not into the wind, go for the far fairway. 6) Par 3, 185 yards, handicap 18 - Club down three times. Adjust for the wind on your boost. 7) Par 4, 420 yards, handicap 16 - Hit a massive hook with a fairway wood or driver. 8) Par 4, 346 yards, handicap 12 - Go for the green in one unless the wind is against you. 9) Par 5, 597 yards, handicap 4 - Go for the left fairway with a fairway wood. If you don't land it in the fairway, lay up. You won't make the green. 10) Par 4, 426 yards, handicap 3 - lay up straight ahead. Aim for the green through the gap in the rocks. 11) Par 3, 181 yards, handicap 7 - straight ahead simple par 3. 12) Par 4, 390 yards, handicap 9 - Reachable green with favorable winds. Or else you can try to hit the rocks to bounce it to the green. But that's risky! 13) Par 5, 538 yards, handicap 5 - Split fairways on this hole. Using the default aim, use your driver and use a massive hook. You'll bounce off the rocks and land on the lower fairway. Massive drives over 400 yards possible. 14) Par 3, 135 yards, handicap 17 - Club down twice and adjust for the wind with the boost you use. 15) Par 4, 418 yards, handicap 11 - Narrow fairway, otherwise straight forward. 16) Par 4, 278 yards, handicap 13 - Reachable in one, but very, very risky. Club down if you go for it. 17) Par 3, 111 yards, handicap 15 - Club up at least once. 18) Par 5, 653 yards, handicap 1 - Aim for right fairway. Beware using power boost at all. Then go for the green with a fairway wood. - Alternate Strategy from "cheech7208" on Gamefaqs.com - From the black tees use a 1 or 2 iron or a high loft wood(7). On the right is a rock wall. Aim at the point where the high part meets the low part. (The farthest black vertical stripe on the wall.) Full red boost or close to it and put a lot of yellow on it(I forget if that's a draw or fade). You'll land on the main fairway on the other side. From there it's an easy uphill chip to the green. You can do this from all tees, but I forget what clubs to use. You'll have to experiment. ------------------------------------------------------ --> The Highlands (Course Difficulty = Expert) Par 72, 8,273 yards 1) Par 4, 544 yards, handicap 11 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Cut the corner as much as the wind will allow you. Green is sloped back and front. 2) Par 5, 663 yards, handicap 3 - Forget about the lighthouse fairway unless you get a lucky rock bounce. Instead focus on two long drives to the green. 3) Par 4, 415 yards, handicap 7 - Aim straight ahead, then go for the green. It's uphill. Either boost or club up. Green is nice and flat for a change. 4) Par 3, 177 yards, handicap 15 - Green is way downhill. I club down twice. Minimal boost (one button press). Green is not flat on this hole, but not too bad. 5) Par 4, 454 yards, handicap 13 - Old tree is in the way, but I've never hit it yet. Green slopes sharply to the left front corner. The AI likes to put the pin right on the edge of that slope. Make sure your putt is either in the hole or short! 6) Par 5, 579 yards, handicap 1 - Lay up just short of the bridge. Then go for the green with a fairway wood. Green is fairly flat. I had a 45 foot "straight in" putt on this hole. 7) Par 4, 460 yards, handicap 17 - Lay up, then go for the green. Not worth risking the sand traps on this hole. 8) Par 4, 476 yards, handicap 9 - Lay up just short of the break in the fairway. Green is bowl shaped. Makes for lots of roll possibility. Green slopes to the back. 9) Par 3, 218 yards, handicap 5 - Sound effects get very loud and annoying on this hole. Pretty straight forward otherwise... 10) Par 4, 443 yards, handicap 14 - Still annoying sound effects... blast across the water with a drive. Go as far right as the wind will allow. Green slopes to the right. 11) Par 5, 647 yards, handicap 8 - Blast away. Try for a bounce off the keeps in the center of the fairway. If you make it, you'll get a massive distance. Either way, you can make the green in two. 12) Par 4, 576 yards, handicap 18 - Aim for the end of the fairway on the right. Watch the columns on your second shot. Green slopes to the right and is shallow. So if you need to aim around a column, go left and roll right into the pin. 13) Par 4, 439 yards, handicap 4 - Better to lay up to the right. Give you a long view of this narrow green. Green slopes away sharply at the edges. 14) Par 4, 532 yards, handicap 16 - Drive it to the left of the sand. Green is fairly flat. 15) Par 3, 200 yards, handicap 2 - Green is on a plateau, but it's level with the tee box. Use backspin to ensure the ball doesn't go over the backside. 16) Par 4, 536 yards, handicap 12 - Aim right for the stonehenge or a little to the left of it. This will line you up with the green which is again narrow like hole number 13. 17) Par 3, 252 yards, handicap 6 - Long, very long, par 3. Not very tough if you can get the ball to hold the green. Green is fairly flat except on the front edge. 18) Par 5, 662 yards, handicap 10 - Tough hole to eagle from the black tees. Have to drive it across the first gorge. You need wind help to do this. Green slopes from back to front and is an elevated "island". Lay up if you don't think you can make it. ------------------------------------------------------ --> St. Andrews (Course Difficulty = Easy) Note: This course is usually very windy http://www.standrews.org.uk/ Par 72, 7,115 yards 1) Par 4, 376 yards, handicap 15 - Easily driveable green. Just watch for the stream short of the green if you come up short. Very flat green for putting. 2) Par 4, 413 yards, handicap 3 - Driveable with favorable winds. Green has slopes, unlike #1. 3) Par 4, 397 yards, handicap 13 - Driveable unless the wind is against you. 4) Par 4, 464 yards, handicap 9 - Aim for the middle of the fairway, which narrows as you go. Tough pin placement will be in the middle of the two bunkers on the figure 8 shaped green. You need to be on your accuracy to make the ball "stick". 5) Par 5, 568 yards, handicap 1 - Fairway narrows in the landing area for your drive. Green is HUGE! It's also relatively flat, so eagle here is not hard (also an easy hole to get your 55+ foot putt trophy ball). 6) Par 4, 412 yards, handicap 11 - Driveable with favorable winds. Green has really severe slopes on the front corner. 7) Par 4, 388 yards, handicap 7 - Easy to fly the green since the green is shallow (but very long in width). 8) Par 3, 175 yards, handicap 17 - Green here is HUGE again. Tough pin spot is right behind the bunker on the front left. Use backspin to make it stick. 9) Par 4, 352 yards, handicap 5 - Easily drivable green. Green is very flat. Too easy for eagle. 10) Par 4, 379 yards, handicap 10 - Another drivable green. This one has slopes to the back and front though. 11) Par 3, 174 yards, handicap 18 - Green is somewhat two tiered. Low front half, high back half. 12) Par 4, 314 yards, handicap 6 - Driveable with a 5 wood even... Green has a severe slope on right hand side. 13) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 12 - Not driveable, but you can reach the far fairway on this hole. Green slopes to the front right. 14) Par 5, 581 yards, handicap 2 - Aim for the end of the first fairway. Green has tough slopes on the edges. Green is in the shape of a sideways figure 8. 15) Par 4, 456 yards, handicap 8 - Tough bunkers in the fairway. Green slopes from the front to back, so if the pin is close to the front, use backspin and be on your distance to make it stick, or it will roll on through the green. 16) Par 4, 424 yards, handicap 14 - Wind will blow you out of bounds here if you're not careful. So aim left! Green is not very sloped. 17) Par 4, 455 yards, handicap 4 - "The Road Hole" - fairway is very narrow. Green is also small. Relatively tough hole for St. Andrews. 18) Par 4, 357 yards, handicap 16 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Wind is usually against you. Makes it non-driveable. Green has brutal slope on the left front. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Penguin Falls (Course Difficulty = Easy) Par 72, 7,360 yards 1) Par 5, 614 yards, handicap 11 - Have to fade around the rocks to land on the third fairway. Long iron to the green. 2) Par 4, 394 yards, handicap 3 - Lay up with a fairway wood. Shallow green. Be on your distance. 3) Par 4, 440 yards, handicap 7 - Lay up to the right fairway. Blast away. 5) Par 4, 397 yards, handicap 13 - Go left with a fairway wood. Lines you up with the green. 6) Par 4, 365 yards, handicap 1 - Drive the green. 7) Par 5, 471 yards, handicap 17 - Go to the small circular fairway to the right. Lines you up for a long iron to the green. 8) Par 4, 423 yards, handicap 9 - Drive up the finger shaped fairway. Green is slightly downhill and sloped from back to front. 9) Par 3, 133 yards, handicap 5 - Green is 158 feet below you. Adjust accordingly! Otherwise just hook around it. 12) Par 3, 165 yards, handicap 18 - Narrow width green. Be on your accuracy to avoid hitting mountain. 13) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 4 - Go right. Lines you up with the green. 14) Par 4, 438 yards, handicap 16 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Aim right of rocks sticking out of fairway. Then hook it. Cool paragliders. 5) Par 4, 453 yards, handicap 11 - Long hole, green slopes to the front. 6) Par 5, 560 yards, handicap 9 - Trees are in the way here. Green slopes to the center. 17) Par 4, 442 yards, handicap 4 - Straight forward hole. 18) Par 5, 571 yards, handicap 10 - The only tough part is clearing the water on the second shot. Use more boost than you think you need. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Spyglass Hill (Course Difficulty = Hard) http://www.pebblebeach.com/1.html Par 72, 6,862 yards 1) Par 5, 595 yards, handicap 3 - Use a massive hook to line up with the fairway. I've had a 412 yard drive on this hole. Club up going to the green. I won't insult your intelligence. 4) Par 4, 360 yards, handicap 10 - Don't use your power boost. Green drops off to the left. 5) Par 4, 454 yards, handicap 4 - Aim at the bend in the fairway. Leaves an easy wedge to the green. 6) Par 4, 381 yards, handicap 14 - No power boost again. 7) Par 4, 439 yards, handicap 2 - Aim for the middle of the narrowed part of the fairway. 8) Par 3, 215 yards, handicap 8 - Slightly downhill, but long. 9) Par 5, 582 yards, handicap 6 - Aim for the end of the first fairway - stay to the right. 1 Iron over the trees. Use backspin to stop it on the green. 10) Par 4, 395 yards, handicap 11 - Lay up with the fairway wood. From closer tees you can hook it to the far fairway. 11) Par 5, 529 yards, handicap 7 - Aim just right of the Oak Tree. Green has a rescue fairway to the left, so aim to the left to ensure you make it. 12) Par 4, 336 yards, handicap 15 - Lay up with the fairway wood. Short wedge to the green. 13) Par 3, 172 yards, handicap 17 - Aim right if pin is close to the water. Green has lots of slopes... 14) Par 4, 438 yards, handicap 3 - Fairway really narrows with S turn in it. You'll make it though if you aim past the first bend. 15) Par 4, 426 yards, handicap 5 - Another lay up hole. Green slopes on the right. 16) Par 5, 497 yards, handicap 9 - Use a draw. Green is fairly flat. 17) Par 3, 132 yards, handicap 13 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Quite possibly the most famous hole in the world. It's all about the distance. 18) Par 4, 440 yards, handicap 1 - Around the water hole - pretty straight forward. Just don't be left! ------------------------------------------------------ --> TPC Scottsdale (Course Difficulty = Easy) http://www.tpc.com/daily/scottsdale Par 71, 7,089 yards 1) Par 4, 410 yards, handicap 14 - You can't reach the far fairway without wind help or a full powerup. 2) Par 4, 416 yards, handicap 8 - I've gotten nice bounces off the cart path in the fairway before. Easy hole. 3) Par 5, 554 yards, handicap 4 - Bombs away on the first shot. Green is narrow, but not too bad. 4) Par 3, 175 yards, handicap 18 - Easy par 3. 5) Par 4, 453 yards, handicap 6 - Straight, long par 4. 6) Par 4, 409 yards, handicap 12 - Aim for the base of the green - you'll clear the trees. 7) Par 3, 215 yards, handicap 16 - Long par 3 - green slopes to the front. 8) Par 4, 430 yards, handicap 2 - Long par 4 - but nothing to it. 9) Par 4, 448 yards, handicap 10 - Green drops off on the backside - easy hole. 10) Par 4, 403 yards, handicap 11 Aim straight for the green, then adjust slightly right. You'll clear the trees and hit the green in one. 11) Par 4, 469 yards, handicap 1 - Straight, long, easy hole. 12) Par 3, 195 yards, handicap 15 - Green is 15 to 20 feet downhill. 13) Par 5, 595 yards, handicap 5 - Default aim here is stupid - aim right. Hole is long enough without going left. 14) Par 4, 444 yards, handicap 7 - Aim straight for the green. 15) Par 5, 501 yards, handicap 9 - Aim just left in the narrow fairway area. Then ensure you have enough club to cross the water to the green. 16) Par 3, 162 yards, handicap 17 - Easy par 3. 17) Par 4, 332 yards, handicap 13 - Easily driveable par 4. Only tricky part is not overdriving the hole, or when the pin is in the back left in the narrow green portion. Just be on your aim and distance. 18) Par 4, 438 yards, handicap 3 - Aim straight over bunker at the end of the water. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Royal Birkdale (Course Difficulty = Easy) Note: This is usually a windy course. http://www.royalbirkdale.com/ Par 71, 7,018 yards 1) Par 4, 448 yards, handicap 11 - Blast it past the dogleg 2) Par 4, 421 yards, handicap 3 - Watch bunker in the middle of the fairway 3) Par 4, 407 yards, handicap 7 - If you hit it long, or the wind is behind you, watch out for the S curve in the fairway at the end. 4) Par 3, 203 yards, handicap 15 - club up or down according to the wind 5) Par 4, 344 yards, handicap 13 (POSTCARD HOLE) - cut the corner to drive the green in one - or slice to the green. 6) Par 5, 480 yards, handicap 1 - Dogleg right - use a slice or cut the corner 7) Par 3, 177 yards, handicap 17 - Straight-forward hole 8) Par 4, 457 yards, handicap 9 - Just watch the wind. Another straight-forward hole. 9) Par 4, 411 yards, handicap 5 - Ignore the default aim - cut the corner - dogleg right. 10) Par 4, 403 yards, handicap 14 - drive it in one. You'll clear the trees and the hill. 11) Par 4, 408 yards, handicap 8 - Drive it in one again. You'll clear everything. But you can't make it if the wind is against you. 12) Par 3, 183 yards, handicap 18 - club up or down according to the wind 13) Par 4, 498 yards, handicap 4 - Aim for middle of two sandtraps in the fairway. 14) Par 3, 198 yards, handicap 16 - Easy hole, club up or down according to the wind 15) Par 5, 544 yards, handicap 2 - Very long, straight par 5. Blast away. 16) Par 4, 416 yards, handicap 12 - Just avoid the fairway bunkers. They'll suck you in since they're sloped. 17) Par 5, 547 yards, handicap 6 - Another long par 5 - Bomb's away. 18) Par 4, 472 yards, handicap 10 - Watch the fairway bunker. Wind can push you in it. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Bay Hill Club (Course Difficulty = Easy) http://www.bayhill.com/ Par 72, 7,204 yards 1) Par 4, 441 yards, handicap 3 - Use a slight hook while driving. 2) Par 3, 218 yards, handicap 11 - Downhill green - slopes to the left and right on the sides. 3) Par 4, 395 yards, handicap 5 - With favorable winds you can drive it in one. Otherwise lay up around water. 4) Par 5, 530 yards, handicap 15 - Maybe use a slight draw. Green is large. 5) Par 4, 384 yards, handicap 13 - Have to lay-up with a fairway wood. 6) Par 5, 543 yards, handicap 9 - Possible green-in-one par 5. Need favorable winds. 7) Par 3, 197 yards, handicap 17 - Straight forward par-3. 8) Par 4, 459 yards, handicap 7 - Aim just over the left edge of trees. 9) Par 4, 467 yards, handicap 1 - Use a draw off the tee to line up with the fairway. 10) Par 4, 400 yards, handicap 12 - Use a fade to line up with the fairway. Green slopes to the left front slightly. 11) Par 4, 428 yards, handicap 2 - Fairway narrows closer to the green. Straight forward otherwise. 12) Par 5, 570 yards, handicap 10 - Long par 5 - aim just over the tree. Long iron or fairway wood to green. 13) Par 4, 364 yards, handicap 6 (POSTCARD HOLE) - Have to lay up. Take something off the backswing to ensure you're not in the rough. 14) Par 3, 206 yards, handicap 16 - Long par 3 - straight forward though. 15) Par 4, 425 yards, handicap 8 - Use a fade off the tee. 16) Par 5, 517 yards, handicap 18 - "Bay Hill" hole - Green is sloped towards the water. 17) Par 3, 219 yards, handicap 14 - Even longer par 3. 18) Par 4, 441 yards, handicap 4 - This is Tiger's hole (see the video in the EA Extras mode). Green slopes heavily towards the water. ------------------------------------------------------ --> Tiger's Dream 18 (Course Difficulty is listed as Hard, but only because Spyglass Hill is the last hole in the course) Par 72, 7,380 yards Note: No handicaps on these holes Note: Glitch - all of your scores on this course go towards your Spyglass Hill records (because Spyglass Hill is the last hole in this course). 1) Par 4, 416 yards - Pebble Beach #8 2) Par 4, 441 yards - Bay Hill #18 3) Par 3, 132 yards - TPC Sawgrass #17 4) Par 4, 466 yards - Pinehurst #8 5) Par 3, 106 yards - Pebble Beach #7 6) Par 4, 455 yards - St. Andrews #17 7) Par 4, 476 yards - Emerald Dragon #4 8) Par 4, 357 yards - St. Andrews #18 9) Par 3, 207 yards - Predator #14 10) Par 3, 218 yards - Highlands #9 11) Par 5, 543 yards - Pebble Beach #18 12) Par 4, 449 yards - Pinehurst #2 13) Par 4, 499 yards - Bethpage Black #12 14) Par 5, 663 yards - Kapalua #18 15) Par 5, 555 yards - Wallaby #18 16) Par 4, 483 yards - Pinehurst #5 17) Par 5, 544 yards - Sahalee #11 18) Par 4, 370 yards - Spyglass #4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 13) THE PRO SHOP 1) The Pro Shop is the another major addition to this year's game. 2) There are various equipment, apparel, accessories, and animations that can be purchased and collected with your hard earned cash. 3) Most items have an attribute modifier ranging from 1 "dot" to 4 "dots". The more dots the better. Some even have modifiers in two different attribute categories. - These modifiers have the effect of increasing your attributes. - You must wear a 4 "dot" item to have the full 4 "dot" effect to your attributes. They are not cumulative! For example, you can't wear two 2 "dot" items to get a 4 "dot" modifier. - In addition, if you are wearing or equipping a 4 "dot" item in one category, such as luck, then the rest of the items you are wearing or equipping in that category have no impact whatsoever. They are just for show. For example, it doesn't help you to wear ten 4 "dot" luck modifier items. Your luck will still just be modified by 4 "dots". 4) You have to have 4 dot modifiers in each category to get your attributes to the 110% max. 5) Every day, and sometimes more than once a day, you get new items on sale in the "featured" items category. This is critical near the beginning of the game when your cash is in short supply. All the on sale items are half price. Thus $200,000 items are only $100,000! A huge savings! --> I'm not going to list the pro shop items as they literally number in the hundreds. If I get the time I might. However, I don't have to anymore... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 14) CREATE A GOLFER 1) This is another big huge addition to this year's game. 2) If you take your time, you can literally recreate almost any person, including yourself! 3) The appearance of your golfer has no impact on his/her performance. Thus, even though in real life, an overweight golfer may not perform very well, in the game, an overweight golfer can perform just as good as Sunday Tiger Woods if you build up that character's attributes. 4) Male or female has no impact on performance either. This is evidenced by the great performances of Erika "Ice" Von Severin and Solita Lopez late in the World Tour. 5) If there are any artists out there who want me to post their creations, then I will do so and credit you with the creation! - (I'm not an artist, so I won't be doing that myself) - NEW! Josh writes the following: - Hi, I actually have an answer to one of your questions. Someone asked how to make their face look like them and if there was someone they could send their picture to etc. I would be willing to take pictures and try to create the person's face. I'm not claiming to be an expert or to be perfect at it and the gameface DOES have some limitations, but I'd be willing to do my best. If you'd like to add it to your faq, people can send me a picture by e-mailing me at CrazyShadow7@yahoo.com. I will do my best with the picture and send them the informations. I've been very interested in the gameface mode and have been trying to make a website to put up different face creations. But I'm just getting started. Anyways, please let me know if you could put my address up on your faq and have people e-mail me with their pictures. Great job on the faq, this game rocks! Josh. 6) Note that you HAVE to create a golfer to start the game. You can't play without a created golfer. 7) "Gold4CanadianHockey" posted these on the Gamefaqs.com board. This is for Weir, Mickelson, and Garcia. He references "skabatula" as the author, with tweaks of his own. You start at 10% in each category. By spending your hard earned cash, you can work your way up to 100% unmodified, and 110% with full 4 "dot" multipliers. See chapter 13 for more details on the modifiers. 1 dot is worth 1% extra 2 dots are worth 3% extra 3 dots are worth 6% extra 4 dots are worth 10% extra Note: the cash amounts below apply to unmodified attribute categories. Subtract the above modifier to see how much each point will cost you. Example: if you have 4 dots, you need to subtract 10% from your total and then use the chart below. Here's the attribute categories and what each one does for you: 1) Power - More power equals longer drives! - This is the first one I attempt to max out. 2) Power Boost - improves the power boost effect on the backswing 3) Driving Accuracy - makes it easier to hit straighter shots 4) Ball Striking - improves iron accuracy 5) Approach - improves chip and pitch shot accuracy 6) Putting - A higher score means more putts will drop. - This is the second one I attempt to max out. 7) Recovery - improves accuracy from the sand and rough. 8) Spin - The higher the number, the easier it is to spin the ball, and the more you can spin the ball. - This is the third one I attempt to max out. 9) Luck - Gives you good bounces in the rough, trees, etc. - This is the fourth one I attempt to max out. Here's the breakdown of what each percentage point costs: 10-15% $500 each 16-20% $1,000 each 21-24% $1,500 each 25% $1,750 26-30% $2,000 each 31-35% $2,500 each 36-40% $2,750 each 41-45% $5,000 each 46-49% $7,500 each 50% $10,000 51-55% $12,500 each 56-60% $15,000 each 61-65% $20,000 each 66-70% $25,000 each 71-74% $30,000 each 75% $32,500 76-80% $35,000 each 81-85% $40,000 each 86-90% $45,000 each 91-95% $50,000 each 96-99% $75,000 each 100% $100,000 Total amount of money to raise one stat to 100% (110% with modifiers): - $1,881,500 Total amount of money to raise your character to maxed out: - $16,933,500 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 16) TROPHY BALLS Notes: 1) Again, some of these balls can only be earned in certain modes. None of them, save for the Scenario Completion ball, can be earned during the scenarios. ALL of them can be earned during the PGA Tour Mode. SOME can be earned during the World Tour Mode. I've tried to mark them below. 2) If you're having trouble with a particular ball, such as the double eagle ball, look for a short driveable par-5. The Bay Hill Club #6 hole comes to mind. 3) I'm working on the prize list for each one. It's tough to calculate on some of them, especially if you win more than one in a round. This usually happens with the First Tournament Win and the First Bogey Free Round, and the Birdie Buster and Birdie Streak balls. List of Each Ball and the Requirement for Each ---------------------------------------------- 1) Long Drive Challenge - "Bomb a 350 yard drive" - any mode except Scenario - $500 prize 2) Long Putt Challenge - "Sink a 55 foot putt" - any mode except Scenario - $1,000 prize 3) Fairway Challenge - "Hit all fairways in a round" - any mode except Scenario, World Tour 4) GIR Challenge - "Hit all greens in regulation" - any mode except Scenario, World Tour 5) Pin Seeker - "Hit the Pin" - any mode except Scenario - $2,500 prize 6) Aces Wild - "Record a Hole in One" - any mode except Scenario - $75,000 prize 7) Chip in Challenge - "Chip in from 30 yards" - any mode except Scenario - $5,000 prize 8) Low Round - "Shoot under 60 in a round" - any mode except Scenario, World Tour 9) Birdie Streak - "Record 6 Birdies in a row" - any mode except Scenario, World Tour 10) Birdie Buster - "Record 12 Birdies in a round" - any mode except Scenario, World Tour 11) Back-to-Back Eagles - "Record back-to-back eagles" - any mode except Scenario, World Tour 12) Eagle Extravaganza - "Record 4 eagles in a round" - any mode except Scenario, World Tour 13) Top of the Tournaments - "Place 1st in all tournaments" - Only during PGA Tour Season mode 14) Scenario Challenge - "Complete all scenarios" - Only during Scenario mode - $1,000,000 prize 15) World Tour - "Complete World Tour" - Only during World Tour mode - $1,000,000 prize 16) Eagle Hunt - "Eagle every Par 5 in the game" - Only eagles made outside of scenarios count 17) My First Eagle - "Record an Eagle" - Can't be during a scenario - $1,000 prize 18) My First Double Eagle - "Record a Double Eagle" - Can't be during a scenario - $5,000 prize 19) My First Tournament Win - "Place first in a tournament" - Only during PGA Tour Season mode 21) My first Bogey Free Round - "Shoot a bogey free round" - Only during PGA Tour Season mode 22) My first par 4 green in One - "Reach a Par 4 green in one" - Can't be during a scenario - $500 prize 23) 100% Completion - "Achieve 100% completion" - Self-explanatory - $5,000,000 prize ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 17) TRACKING TIGER TROPHY BALLS List of Each Ball and the Requirement for Each ---------------------------------------------- 1) Holes in One "Did you know? You start out with the "bronze" tour card, or your "T" card after you finish the tutorial at the very beginning of the game. The Tour Cards are really only important in that they increase the amount of money that you receive on each hole. For example, if you hit a 300 yard drive with your T card, that is worth $50. If you hit that same drive with your R card, you earn $300. After further research, I've determined that the tour cards must be based off of percent completion. For each of the numbers below, I was at a very random earnings level, but the percent completion was right on. I know some of you probably have different experiences. If anyone has a different theory, let me know. Tour Cards available: --------------------- Bronze Card - 1.0X multiplier - received after tutorial finished T or Silver Card - 2.0X multiplier - received at 10% completion I or Gold Card - 3.0X multiplier - received at 20% completion G or Platinum Card - 4.0X multiplier - received at 30% completion E or Diamond Card - 5.0X multiplier - received at 50% completion R or TIGER Card - 6.0X multiplier - received at 100% game completion Money received based off of Tour Card: ------------------------------------- Base of those modified only by Tour Card: ---------------------------------------- Pin Seeker - $1,000 Chip-in-Change - $1,000 Close Approach - $500 Green in one - $250 Drive greater than 300 yards - $50 Drive greater than 350 yards - $100 Distant Finish - $500 Hazard Save - $150 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 21) SPONSORSHIPS Notes: 1) Sponsorships only really matter during the PGA Tour Season. You earn money based off of how much equipment you're using or apparel/accessories you're wearing from each sponsor. This bonus is awarded per round. This can really add up. I make $140,000 per round on sponsorships, or $560,000 per tournament. This is many times more than the winner's share of the purse in most tournaments. Win or lose... 2) To see your list of sponsors, go to the PGA Tour Season mode and go left or right until you see the sponsorship option. 3) The order appears to be random. But I have heard that Nike is commonly last. This is a good thing. Nike has the most gear and apparel that you can possibly wear, so you get lots of cash. I make $130,000 per round from Nike, and $10,000 per round from Tag Heuer since Nike doesn't make watches. 4) If you have a Tiger Woods 2003 save file, you automatically get one sponsor from the start. 5) Each sponsor gives you a signing bonus when you achieve that sponsorship. 6) Sponsorships do not appear to be tied to a single event. You seem to earn them at certain percentages of game completion. I got my last one (Nike) at about 80% game completion. 7) You cannot lose sponsors like golfers do in real life. Otherwise, I just adjust the amount of boost I use for each shot. - Example: I'm 110 yards out. The elevation change to the green is 10 feet higher. The wind is in my face at about 6 mph. I do not change the club. I just use max power boost. - Example 2: I'm 110 yards out. The elevation change is 30 feet lower to the green. The wind is at my back at about 4 mph. I change the club. I go one club down and use minimal boost (one button press). - You just need to get the feel for what works for you. 2) Chipping - This is a completely new addition to this year's game. Here's my theories on how this works after tons of experimentation. I like this alot. I think it makes those shots close to the green alot easier. - You can chip with any iron or wedge. - Starting with the Sand Wedge, each club has a loft to roll ratio. The sand wedge is 1:1. That means that it will travel just as much in the air as it will roll. This ony works if you get it on the green first! If you don't, the ball won't roll at all. - The PW has a ratio of 1:2 - The 9I has a ratio of 1:3 - and so on until you reach the 5I (the highest club with which you can chip) which has a ratio of 1:7. However, I hardly ever use any club beyond the 7 iron. If I'm in that range of roll needed, I just use the pitch shot. - Use the grid to your advantage. There's no caddy tip on this, so you have to develop a feel for how much to adjust your aim. The rolling lights on the grid have a speed to them. If they're not moving at all, use a SW and aim right for it. If they're moving fast, move the aiming marker opposite their movement. - Use the club you need depending on your lie. If you're on the green, and you have a really long putt, I would use the 7 iron chip shot instead. You don't need any loft, and the roll you'll get will get the ball there. If you're on the fringe, loft is more important. Use the PW or SW or AW. - Remember that the slope of your lie has a lot to do with your aiming. If the ball is below your feet, aim left. If the ball is above your feet, aim right. (Thanks KCWolfPck from IGN message boards for the tip!) 3) Putting and the Putting Grid - This can make or break your game. Remember the adage "Drive for show, putt for dough". This is totally true. A putt counts the same stroke as a drive. 2 putting or 3 putting will kill your score in a heartbeat. - You just need to develop a feel for putting. There's no real "easy" way to ensure you get the putt in the cup every time. Especially if the green has ridiculous slopes. - Just imagine if you were a pro! Putting often kills even Tiger's game in real life. - Turn on the putting grid! This is in the options menu. You're just a glutton for punishment without it. It makes it a little easier. - The grid varies in size depending on your distance from the cup. - The cup itself is 4 inches wide. Thus 1 or 2 inch adjustments should be inside the cup! - The following measurements are all mine and my opinion. I've seen posted on other boards different distances, but this works for me. - Under 20 foot putt: - From top to bottom: grid is 1'9" - From left to right: grid is 2'10" - 20 foot to 40 foot putt: - From top to bottom: grid is 2'6" - From left to right: grid is 2'10" - 40 foot or greater: - From top to bottom: grid is 5' - From left to right: grid is 2'10" - I've occasionally seen a different grid size (4'2" high, 3' wide) that fits between the 20 and 40 foot putts, but I haven't been able to measure when that grid shows up. It might be from 30' to 40' putts. - This grid means that if the caddy tells you 2 feet long, 2 inches left, you place the marker at the left edge of the hole, and go a little beyond 1 grid distance high. The hole is often not on the line itself, so you have to "guesstimate" where to put the marker. - If you're hardcore and want to go without the grid, you'll notice that there is a grid itself imprinted on the green (the mowed in grids). They're fainter, and they're harder to use since they vary in size from course to course. But, this was how we did it in TW2002 and TW2003. Just get the feel again. - The bad part about these grids is that they're not "straight", so you're using alot of geometry in your head to get the correct distances. - Last tips on the putting: it never hurts to add a few inches to the length of your putt, or not to subtract as much from the downhill putts. Just as in real life, a putt with a little more speed will remove some of the break from the ball. This will help make some of the more tricky putts. Either that or get you to within tap-in distance. - Finally: use the chipping method if you're not on the green. It's easier than trying to line up your putt. - Also, sometimes the caddy tip is unavailable. I use the chipping method then too. It's easier to control the ball speed. 4) Windy Courses (greater than 10 mph) - I personally don't like the punch shots. This is the "correct" type of shot to use in the wind, but I think it's just as easy, if not better to use a normal shot and just adjust your aim. - You'll get better distance this way, and you don't have to adjust your normal game as much. - If you're hitting into the wind, club up and use max power boost. If you're hitting down wind, club down and use no boost. - Crosswinds are tougher. Just aim left or right according to the wind. If the wind is really strong, use a fade or a draw to minimize the impact of the wind. For example, if the wind is blowing from left to right, use a slight draw to bring the ball in with the wind. 5) Rainy Courses - Rain takes the roll out of the ball, but doesn't appear to effect distance through the air. Thus driver shots will come up short of normal, since more of their distance comes from roll. Wedge shots are almost unaffected since more of their distance comes from the flight of the ball. - Adjust accordingly - your drives will come up short of the aiming marker. - On the other hand, your wedges will "stick" better to the green. No spin required! 6) Hitting out of the sand (i.e. Sand Saves) - Club up! Use the percentage listed next to your lie to judge what club to use. For example, if the ball is "deep" and listed as 56% (one of the worst you can get), then you need almost double the distance needed. So if you have 60 yards to the green, you need a club with about 115 yards distance. - You can't use a driver or fairway wood effectively in the sand. Don't do it. Lay up! - The longer irons will sometimes not work well either (1, 2, 3, 4 iron). Depends on the lie. If the bunker is steep, then lay up! - Boost can help you get that extra kick coming out of the sand. 7) Hitting out of the rough - Club up! Use the percentage listed next to your lie to judge what club to use. For example, if you're 130 yards out, and the percentage is listed as 80%, you need to use a club with about 156 or so yards to hit the green. - This only works partially. If you're trying to use a driver or fairway wood, then you won't get that kind of distance. Lay up! - If the lie is sloped badly, you won't get full power no matter what club you use - Lay up! - Use a little boost to get that extra kick. Using too much boost will make you overfly the target... just as bad. 8) Shaping your shots - Do the second tutorial after the Tour Card scenario to help learn this critical skill. - Fades and slices are to the right. You do these by pulling back to your right during the back swing and pushing forward to the left on the forward swing. The more to the right that you pull back, the more slice you'll impart. - Draws and hooks are to the left. You do these by pulling back to your left during the back swing and pushing forward to the right on your forward swing. The more to the left that you pull back, the more hook you'll impart. - Always start your aim more to the right if you're hooking the ball. - Always start your aim more to the left if you're slicing the ball. - How much to aim to the left or right is a matter of how much you're slicing or hooking it. You'll just have to try a few to get a feel for how much to adjust your aim. 9) Which clubs should you use? - You have to carry one Driver, one 5 Iron, a Sand Wedge, and a putter. - I personally think the best selection is: - 8.5 degree driver - 5 Wood - 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 irons - Pitching Wedge (PW), Approach Wedge (AW), Sand Wedge (SW), Lob Wedge (LW) - Putter - This selection gives you a nice distance between your driver and your 5 wood. - The 1 Iron is more helpful than the 2 Iron since it is closer in distance to the 5 wood. - The 8 iron is not necessary. Under used club. - The spacing between the 4 wedges above gives you a nice range to pick from when you're close to the green. 10) How to get a full power boost on every shot - One true fail-safe method is to buy a controller with a turbo button! - But seriously, it's a matter of technique. Some people hold the controller all awkwardly and tap their heart out. - XBox: I personally hold the controller with my left hand. I swing the club using the left analog stick using my left thumb. Then I hold the controller against my right leg and tap with my right index finger on the white button. - PS2: I personally hold the controller with my left hand. I swing the club using the left analog stick using my right forefinger and thumb. Then I use my left index finger to tap the L1 for power boost and later L2 for spin. - Trial and error. Whatever works for you is fine. 11) Hitting around or through trees - This can almost be like the unplayable lie sometimes - see below. - You can thread the needle between trees. I've done this many times. It's risky, but it can really help on the Predator and a few other courses. - You can also use trees to stop your ball. Some fairways are really narrow. If you hit the ball through trees on your way to that fairway, it will stop the ball from rolling. Even with a driver! This can be a critical skill on the tougher courses like the Predator. - Just beware... often a tree will stop a ball dead and drop it where it hits the tree. - So, despite the adage that trees are 90% air, it really blows when you hit the 10% that isn't air... Stay away from trees if possible. 12) The unplayable lie - There are lies in the game where you just cannot get out. The Predator does this to me alot. If I'm in some severe bushes, or behind a tree, it's almost impossible to hit out of it, let alone reach the green. - To get out of this, the only foolproof way (at least most of the time) is to turn all the way around and hit it back onto the fairway. 13) Spinning the ball - Spinning the ball is a huge deal in this game. It can make or break you on the more difficult courses. - For example, if you're hitting a driver or fairway wood shot to hit the green in 2 shots on a par 5, then backspin is absolutely critical to stop the ball on the green without it rolling through to the backside rough. This is not always possible. Especially if your spin attribute is not maxed out. Then you'll just need to just take something off the backspin. - Spin has no effect at all on the flight of the ball. Unlike real life. If you don't believe me, look in the manual. It says that spin effects are applied after the ball is on the ground. - Once you start the spin, you cannot stop it. You can change the direction to minimize "damage" or you can slow your spin down by pushing the controller slightly in the opposite direction and tapping the spin button. This will slow the spin down. - Techniques: a) On drives, spin creates more distance. If you use forward spin, you will get a further distance. If you use backwards spin, it will not stop a drive from rolling, but it will keep the ball from rolling too far. b) Spin will not get you out of a bunker. The ball just sticks. c) Spin sometimes will help you get out of the rough. The ball loses a lot of speed when it hits the rough, but if it's close to the edge of the fairway, then sidespin will help it get to the fairway. d) Due to the shorter flight time of the ball on pitch and chip shots, spinning is almost futile. You can usually get a few button presses in on each to stop the ball from rolling too far in the wrong direction. e) On a par 3, if you get the heartbeat vibration right after you hit the ball, do NOT spin the ball. I've gotten almost all my holes-in-one by NOT spinning the ball. The CPU knows when the ball is heading for the hole right after you hit it. Spinning it will just throw the ball offline. You won't always get the hole-in-one this way, but it has worked for me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 25) SECRETS, HINTS, COOL FEATURES 1) In the XBox version and the PS2 version, there are two special movies in the EA Extras menu. One is entitled "Tribute to #1", the other is entitled "Bay Hill #18." Both are about Tiger Woods. Sorry Gamecube fans! The disc is too small to hold these movies, even though you have two of them with this game. 2) The Tiger Challenge scenario that you need to beat to get the Tracking Tiger "Can You Beat Me?" ball is available only through a password. The password is "sherwood target" all lower case. It's a 3 hole scenario vs. Tiger at the Sherwood Country Club. Too bad this is the only place you can play this course, and you only get the last three holes of it. - Prizes for winning: $45,000, Unlocking Wallaby Creek, Tracking Tiger trophy ball, $500,000 bonus for the ball, and up to $5,000 in side games (longest drive and closest to the pin). - You can only get the $500,000 bonus once. 3) Unlocking Cedric the Entertainer was covered above, but I'll add it in here too: use "CEDDYBEAR" (without the quotes, but in all caps) at the password screen. He's pretty entertaining. Ha Ha... - You have to re-enter this password after you turn off your machine if you want to continue using Cedric. The game does not save him as un- locked. 4) When you enter a password, if you did it right, you'll hear Tiger say "Oh, yeah". If you do it wrong, you'll hear Tiger say "That's not good". 5) There are introductory FMVs at the beginning of each "real-life" tournament, such as the Bay Hill Invitational. - Tiger will also present you with the trophy in an FMV for the Bay Hill tournament, and for the The Players Championship (TPC). The Bay Hill trophy is really cool - a mini sword. 6) Tiger will congratulate you when you are selected for PGA Tour Player of the Month with a FMV (January and February). - I've also seen Justin Rose (March) and Ty Tryon (April) congratulate you for being player of the month. 7) Watch for the sasquatch in the trees on Sahalee CC hole #17. No joke. 8) John Daly will congratulate you in a FMV for your first major victory. - The first major is the "Southern Major Championship" at Pinehurst No. 2. It's the 11th tournament in the PGA Tour Season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 26) YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED - This posting of email questions is NOT meant to ridicule or poke fun. There are no stupid questions. What I assume to be obvious may not be to others. Also, some of these questions were really good ones too. - Ask away and I'll answer your questions here... But please scan through these questions BEFORE emailing me and asking something that's already been answered. I've gotten some of the same questions over and over and over. Email: blackwidow_gamefaqs@hotmail.com - "T N" writes: "how do I purchase a 5 wood?? All the fairway woods I see are 3 woods... Please advice. Thanks!" - My response: You don't purchase a specific wood. For example, you only buy "fairway woods" from the pro shop menu. Once you have a specific fairway wood, you can go to the "in the bag" menu and select either the 3W, 5W, or the 7W from that type of specific fairway wood. - "ralston4" writes: I am playing on the PC, and I was wondering if there is any tie into the way to achieve a sponsorship. I rejected the first two offers, Ping and Maxfli, hoping someone else would offer. I didnt believe that you could have more than one sponsor. I have played well into the champion mode of TWG 2004 and still have not been offered another sponsorship. Do you know of any way to improve chances of obtaining sponsorship? Wearing more gear of a particular sponsor? Does it have to do with the tournament you play in? Do you have to play all the tournaments to unlock a specific sponsor? - My response: As far as I know, the PC version is very different from the console version. In the consoles, you get to have all 11 sponsors at one time. In the PC version, I've heard (only by reading message boards) that you only get 1 sponsor. I'm not sure what the triggering events are in the PC version either. In the console versions, it appears to come at a regular interval based off of your game completion stats or your overall earnings. I might try the PC version in the future if I get a chance, but until then, let me know if you figure it out. Sorry I can't be of more help to you! - "Nick" writes: I have been playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 for awhile now and I have no clue as to what the Side Games are on each hole in the PGA Tournament. Is there something that I have to do in order to get the money for it? - My response: I get this question a lot - Side Games: in 2003 they were 1) closest to the pin ($2500), 2) longest drive ($2500), and 3) hole in one ($100K) that occurred during tournaments. In 2004, I've only seen them during the Tiger Challenge Target Tournament where you play Tiger for 3 holes. (password: sherwood target). I haven't seen them at all anywhere else in the game. Maybe there's a glitch in the game? Not sure. But they definitely occur with less frequency during 2004 than during 2003. - "Gary" writes: I am trying to play the pga tour with my buddy at home but the game will only let one of us play at a time. Is there anything that i am doing wrong? Is there no way for both of us to play it at the same time from the same xbox? - My response: Sorry... this is one of the biggest complaints that people have about this years game. Used to be in TW2003 that you could do this. For some reason they pulled that option out in TW2004... - "Chris" writes: Apologies if you deal with this somewhere in your very full FAQ - do you know if Penguin Falls is available in the gamecube version? - My response: Thanks Chris for pointing out that the Gamecube version does NOT have the Penguin Falls course. Yet another way GC owners were shafted. But of course, when TW2004 for the GBA comes out, they'll have their connectivity. - "Simon" writes: On a real time event I recently played the weather was raining. I thought nothing strange about this until I checked my game options and they had been changed to rain in the weather section. Is this because I played an RTE in the Autumn which can be pretty wet anyway? - My response: Some of the RTE's take place in the rain, just like some of the scenarios. It's supposed to add to the challenge. - "Paul" writes: I am not sure how to make my golfer look like me. What can i do to send my pic to someone that can send the settings to me so i can make my golfer look like me? - My response: Like I stated in the FAQ, I'm not an artist, and no one has responded to me yet with their creations or whether or not they're up to doing custom ones, so we'll have to wait and see. - "Todd" writes: How do you change the coarse difficulty? Mine is always easy. I'm shooting like 16 under par every round. - My response: It depends. The actual course difficulties are set in stone. For example, TPC Sawgrass is always a medium difficulty course. The only thing you can change is the pin locations and the tee locations. If it's a PGA Tour Season tournament, the tee locations are automatically set to black (the hardest), and the pin locations go from easy on day 1 to expert on day 4. You can't change them in that mode, scenario mode, or World Tour mode. They're preset. But, if you're playing online or playing traditional modes, you can change the pin locations and the tee locations. - "Matthew" writes: i can't switch any of my clubs when i go to the pro shop and "in the bag". When ever i change them in "in the bag" they don't change when i go to play and im stuck with my original clubs which i don't want. How do i make the clubs i put in my bag useable in the game? - My response: First, which version are you using? I have had this problem once with the XBox version, but not with the PS2 version. Here's what you can try: change your clubs, save your game immediately. Then play a round. If the clubs are still the default ones, then try this: change your clubs, save your game, turn off the system, turn it back on, play a round. If it's still default, try changing them right after you turn it on. It's a new feature this year that lets you save your club configuration (TW2003 it would never save it), so I'm sure there are bound to be a few bugs in it. - "Brody" writes: I have absolutely no idea what the Bio Level 4 is. To unlock some items in the pro shop you need to reach this level and I dont know what to do. Could you please help me out? - My response: They're talking about the EA Sports Bio. To activate this, go into "My Tour" from the menu. It's the first option on that screen. It takes up some space on your memory card though. What it does is track your playing time, your big achievements (like getting trophy balls, winning tournaments, etc.) and your time playing other EA Sports games (only 2004 versions though...) So, after a certain amount of time (not sure how much), you'll get to Bio level 4. I'm at 8 on mine with just over a day's worth of playing time (but I started it late - I should be almost double or triple that). - "Rick" and "Paul" write: I cannot seem to get the eagle on the 7th hole of Emerald Dragon. Is there a secret way to do this? Please help me!!!!! - My response: Okay, turn on gale force winds in the options menu. Then do the course in the traditional mode - stroke play. Set it up to use the White Tees, Fast Fairways, slow greens. Play that hole (#7). When you get to it, if the winds are not blowing you towards the far fairway, quit and start over. The other thing you can do to speed this up so you don't have to play through holes 1-6 is to create a course. Make it consist of nothing but the Emerald Dragon #7 hole. Set it up with the same options. Anyways, when you finally get the wind blowing you towards the far fairway, boost up and go for it. You'll make it. Then go for the green. You'll make it. Putt for eagle. - "Chris" writes: Great job on the faq. I have found a few more FMV secrets where these golfers will appear: First PGA Tour win- Adam Scott Player of the Month - John Daly appears sometimes First major win - Retief Goosen Winning the Grand Slam - Tiger - My response: Thanks Chris. I'll be sure to include this in the next FAQ update and include your name as the source. - "Brian" writes: Yo man, I read your faq-it's well done n' helpful. I was reading your q&a stuff at the bottom-someone wanted to know about side games. Well, my brother and I play a lot of skins games under the traditional game modes. We get about 2-4 side game challenges per round on most of the standard courses before unlocking any-almost always a nearest to the pin on par 3 or a longest drive on par 5, we've only gotten the 100k hole in one challenge once. Also, I dont know for sure whether it is random or not, but the side games seemed to come up at a higher frequency when we were tied on the 18th and went to extra holes. - My response: Thanks Brian. I'll be sure to include this in the next update and give you credit. I don't play those traditional modes too often myself, so I wasn't even aware that the side games occurred during those modes. In the past, they occurred during other modes as well. - "Manny" writes: Hello, i have put in the code "THEKITCHENSINK" and i do hear the oh yeahhhh thing but how do i choose the other golphers? i click on game modes and go to PGA tour, but it only gives me the option of selecting myself....your answer is great appreciated....XBOX version of PGA here... - My response: I've never tried that password. However, I do know that you can only select other golfers for certain modes, such as scenarios, traditional games, and arcade modes. I know you cannot use other golfers for PGA Tour and for the World Tour. You must use your created golfer for those modes. - "Jason" writes: Nice walkthrough. For some reason I cannot select a different degree driver to put in my bag. It is always stuck at 9.5! Any suggestions? - Jason's own response: I figured out my question. You have to unselect another club in the bag (lets say 9 iron) then check the 2nd driver you desire. Then you can unselect the original driver and go back and put the club you unselected (9 iron) back in. Because you always need one driver, for some reason the game wont let you just switch them, seems silly. - "James" writes: I was wondering if their was any difference in the top tier drivers? I just eagled every par five and unlocked the EAgle series driver. Is this any better than the best Callaway? - My response: They're the same if their multiplier is the same. I heard someone on a board say that they get 10 extra yards with their EAgle Series, but I don't believe them. I've tried it. - "James" (a different guy) writes: have you noticed on the leaderboards for online tournaments, that many at the top have less points than others. i've seen some in the negatives. does this mean they're cheating? if so, why let them stay there and earn that prize money? - My response: Just another reason why EA should go the XBox live route. It's too easy for folks to cheat on the PS2. If they get "banned", they just create a new ID. You can't do that on XBox. - "Jeremy" writes: Is it possible to have your level of attributes exceed 110% in each category? I thought that somewhere I had seen that it was possible to double your attributes after achieving a certain accomplishment. My stats are maxed and now I don't know what to spend my money on. - My response: Sorry. 110% is it. Once you've bought everything in the pro shop, you're just accumulating cash. Nothing else to spend it on. - "Paul" writes: Thanks very much for taking the timeout to create the FAQ for Tiger Woods 2004. I have one question and one additional piece of information for you. Is there any way to list which sponsors you have accepted? And the piece of information is that the European (at least UK) versions do not have the online facility. - My response: Thanks for the tip on the European version (do you have the PS2?). As for the sponsors, go to the PGA Tour Season mode, and scroll left or right through the menus. There's a sponsors list in there and how much each gives you. - "Chad" writes: I have a question about Tiger woods 2004 for xbox, I have finished the game and I don't know how to get the rest of thr Tiger Trophy balls (money maker, 28 % winning, and 18 majors) I know thatthey are 100 event minimum, but does that mean I just keep on playing stroke play, or do I start another game face. Can I play another season with the same character and if so how do I do it? Any help in this and I would greatly appreciated it., I am at 152% game completion. - My response: You can play as many seasons as you need to with your created character. Thus, you can play 100 tournaments (roughly 3 seasons worth). Takes a long time! - "David" writes: the 100% completion ball i have got but i haven't completed the whole game i have 95% completion but 10% bonus completion. Also i would like to know what is your lowest round - My response:The bonus completion is added into your game total completion. It's weird then that you got the 100% trophy ball without being truly "100%" complete. My lowest round was a 46 at TPC Scottsdale. Tough to get lower than that. You need to be eagling lots of par 4s to even get close to that score. But I have heard (and probably believed) guys on the internet saying that they've gotten a 42 or so. Anything lower than that, I think they're cheating (or lying). I consider myself to be pretty good, and 46 doesn't happen very often for me. I do hit 52 very consistently (birdie every hole and eagle a few). - "Andrew" writes: -After completing the World Tour, it is locked out. At what point does it unlock in order to pursue 200% completion? -How exactly is 100% completion obtained? What does/doesn't count towards it? -What is Bonus Progress % under Game Progress for? I am currently at 91% Game Progress and only 7% Bonus Progress. At this rate, will I need 1200% completion to max out bonus progress? - My response: 1) The World Tour is a one time thing. You achieve 200% by doing everything else. It doesn't mean that you get to do everything in the game twice. 2) Bonus progress is your progress at : 1) RTEs, 2) pro-shop items collected, 3) Tracking Tiger Balls, and maybe a few other things. 3) 100% is completed anytime you get enough so that you're "half-way" through the game. For me, it was after the World Tour, after 10 PGA Tour Tournaments, after all 30 scenarios completed, and after most trophy balls completed. It will vary based on what you do. If you do nothing but the PGA Tour, you'll eventually hit 100% just by doing that. - "John" writes: I can't figure out how to get 8250 total yards on 15 balls on the "I" and "G" levels of the arcade mode, long drive shootout, total balls (you would have to average 450 yards per drive). The only way I managed to get 7500 on the "t" level was to set the wind to gale force, and keep reseting until I got a big tail wind. - My response: You've got the idea on getting the trophy in the total balls. You need a strong tail wind (30 mph plus). Then you need to get a max power drive every time (full red ball) - tough to do without a turbo controller. Then you need to hit it 450 everytime to get the bonus distance added to it (100 points). It's possible, but tough... - "Silas" writes: I am using a PS2 and I noticed that they give the "resale" value of all the clubs however how do you sell the clubs or even trade them? Is there a place or time or spot to resell your clubs your not using or is there anything to do with the clubs you have but don't use? - My response: You can sell your clubs/shirts/etc. if you wish, but there's really no reason to do so. You get a marginal fraction of the purchase price back, and in order to get 200%, you'll need to buy everything. But, if you want to, just select that item, ensure it's not equipped, then press "circle" to sell it. - "Steve" writes: In Tiger Woods 2004 (PS2) is it possible to save a game in the middle of a round? If my kids are bugging me when I'm on the 8th hole, can I save it and pick it up later or do I have to keep it on pause? (I'm renting the game, so I don't have a copy of the manual). Thanks, so far your FAQ has been a great help. - My response: Sorry... no way to save mid-round. I have the same problem sometimes with my kids. I just put the controller out of reach and pause the game when I can't continue a round to completion. - "Ryan" writes: How do I get the Eagle Hunt Trophy Ball? I've been trying to get that Driver that has 4 Power and 4 Power Boost and I have no idea what I've got to do. - My response: You have to get an eagle in all 75 par-5 holes. There's a list of which one's you've gotten in the "My Tour" Trophy Room. If you've gotten an eagle on a certain par-5, there will be a golf ball with an eagle on it to mark that. You can even use the controller to highlight those balls and it will tell you the date that you achieved that eagle. The easiest way is to use the checklist in my FAQ, then "create-a-course" with those holes that you need to eagle. Then play that in traditional modes stroke play (mulligans have to be off), then play that course until you get eagles in all the holes you need. If you have one last tricky eagle to get, then create-a-course with nothing but that one hole over and over again. - "James" writes: As a side note. I play Madden2004 and NCAA2004 so my bio has reached level 29. This has unlocked the pro shop items for that requirement. I have not scanned all the items to confirm, all have been released but I know many were when level 29 was reached. I also started with $27,000.00 in cash @ level 25 bio. I guess you get $2,000.00 plus one thousand per level of bio. Just an extrapolation maybe not the way it works but it make sense. - My response: You're probably right about the cash bonus you receive. That would keep in line with the rewards theme of the Bio. - "Mark" writes: Also, "Nessie" is in Scrofie (spelling?) Lake on the Highlands course. She swims out from behind the island going to the left on the par 3 over the water (I forget what hole that is). Now for my real question: I created a right-handed golfer, but when I bought a glove, the system put the glove on the wrong hand. A right-handed golfer wears a glove on the left hand, but the system puts it on the right hand. Do you know of any way to correct this? EA Sports says it's not a glitch, but I have my doubts. - My response: Thanks for the tip on Nessie. Never noticed before. Also, there are two different types of gloves in the game, some are labeled RH, some are labeled LH. My golfer has one on each hand (the more items you wear from each sponsor gives you more cash). Make sure you bought the "correct" glove if you only want one on a certain hand. - "James" writes: I was wondering if ther is actually a difference between the unlockable clubs (i.e. Ping 123 better than Nike 456) and since you can only have 10 sponsorships, or at least I think that is all you can have, how can you unlock all of the items in the pro shop that require sponsorships once you already have your 10? If you answered either of these questions in your FAQ and I missed it, I appologize - My response: There are actually 11 sponsorships. There is no difference between clubs and equipment with the same modifier. - "James" (a different guy) writes: How do I play a Tournament with two players? I have only been able to play with one player? - My response: Sorry... one player only this year. Sucks huh? - "Maximillian" writes: Does the Sponsorship money counts toward the PGA Career Money? I am a little bit worried because I got only the last 5 PGA Tournaments left and I only got 15 Million (with placing 1st in every PGA Event) and need 32 million to pass/beat Tiger Woods (Tracking Tiger Woods Trophy Ball). My sponsorship is also not so good because I make only 96.000 per round. My highest Sponsor is Tag Heuer, then Callaway, then Ping, (Nike was the 3rd Sponsor I received, which sucks!) Anyway, I am almost thru with the Game, but really want to get all the Trophy Balls possible. So let me know about that please. - My response: You can continue playing season after season for up to 10 seasons to get the Tracking Tiger ball. Note that Tiger is actually earning money while you play, so the value goes up as you play. You'll catch him though. - "Dave" writes: After creating a user profile, or "game face", can I change the name of that character? When starting out I meant to make the name bigD, but I slipped and it came out bjgD. Not a big deal except I noticed it after 106% completion! - My response: Sorry! No way to change the name once it's set. - "Suge420" writes: I am currently playing TW 2004 for PC and i am wondering what the requirements are to unlock the championship level.....i have amateur, pro, and tour levels unlocked but cant seem to unlock the "championship" level. If you could help it would be MUCH appreciated. - My response: I'm really not sure about the PC version. Sorry! - "Jon" writes: Great FAQ, very helpful in a lot of areas. I completed my first RTE today (Moto I think it’s called). I thought that I remembered that I saw posts on the FAQ’s board about turning back the system time to complete missed RTE’s. Questions: one will this affect my current player? I am about 126% complete and don’t really wont to have to start from scratch again. Two: if this will not affect my player how do you change the system time? - My response: I've heard that changing your clock will sometimes result in glitches in the all time records listings. (i.e. the longest drive record will display 40000+ yards). However, other than that, there does not appear to be any issue about changing the system clock to play the RTEs. - "shorty9ers" writes: Saw your FAQ's and had a question for you. When browsing the items to purchase, I notice that most of them have a resell value. Is there a way to resell them? As I acheived sponsors, I kept buying stuff. Now that my sponsorships are maxed out, I want to sell back some of the crap I don't use. - My response: You can resell items. Just select that item and press "circle" button. Warning: you get a fraction of the cash you paid for it, and you're only hurting yourself since pro shop items count towards bonus completion. - "Darren" writes: is it best 2 get all of ur attributes up first then do the pga tour season? coz ive done 1 and came first in it so wot should i do and which hole and wot golf caurse is it best 2 get a hole in 1? - My response: It's really up to you on which way you do it. I started with the World Tour, then did the PGA Tour. As for holes in one, I would go to TPC Sawgrass. The #17 hole is short, and if you turn off the wind, it's only a matter of time before you get a hole in one. - "John" writes: What is the % you need to get to to totally complete the game? IS it 200%, or can it go even higher if you keep playing the Tour? - My response: I've gotten emails from folks stating that they're around 230% completion. I don't think you ever can truly complete the game. There are only 10 seasons, and the RTEs end in 2006, but other than that, it seems to go on forever. - "Lou" writes: The RTEs for Father's day and Stuart Appleby's birthday only exist in the year 2005. Pretty strange. Also, I already have 75/74 RTEs complete. Do you know how many there are in all? I found out that the RTEs stop in 2006. - My response: Thanks for the pointers! I think there are only 75. - "NSmith" writes: Is there any way to have more that 4 user profiles? There are more than 4 different people that play it and I was wondering if buying a memory card would allow more people to save their profiles. - My response: Sorry, without using a different memory card, there's no way to have more than 4 user profiles. - "Erich" writes: With my created character I am able to hit straight when I use the left analog stick, but when I use the right analog stick I seem to always slice or hook it (whatever to the right is). I have tried to different controllers with the same result. Is this built into the game somehow and can I correct it? - My response: Seems like you're holding the controller differently. This happens to me sometimes when I'm tired. I'll hold the controller slightly off kilter and start slicing or hooking it. Just make sure you're holding it straight and swinging straight back and straight forward. - "eddy" writes: I was playing online for the first time. i have all my atts maxed out and my driver says 333 yards. I was playing someone and they had a 3 wood that went 412 yards and a driver that i think went 467. how is that possible? are they cheating or do they have super tiger woods drivers? - My response: They're cheating. Action Replay codes. Sucks huh? - "Adilehg" writes: I just read your faq on Tiger Woods 2004 and it really helps, but I still have problems driving the ball. I seem to over or under hit the ball a lot. What is the best way to control my power? Should I cycle through different clubs or is it better to push the controller up or down to select where you want to place the ball on the green? For example on the Scottsdale course there is one hole (sorry I forgot which one) where I really overhit it yet I put my grid well below the hole. - My response: It's best to use the boost to try and control your power. Use the club that gets you closest to where you want to be, then add boost or use none to get the desired result. For example, if the hole is 220 yards from you, and your 3 iron hits it 210, then you would want to use a few boost taps to get the ball to 220 (also note that the ball will roll when using a long iron, so you need to take that into account). The only time I don't use a full swing is usually with my wedge shots. Then it's a matter of finesse in trying to get the ball as close to or into the cup. For that, I use the closest club possible (that is past the hole), then I take a little off the backswing based on math percentages. So if the wedge shot will go 60 yards, and the hole is 45 yards away, then I need to use a 75% swing. I'll take the club back about 75% of the way. - "DGold182" writes: hi, when i first got the game, i played the first day in the season, and i got a 40+. today is the 2nd day ive had it, and now i can play really well. how do i erase the season and start over but save my character and all my equipment and stuff and also save the world tour? - My response: You can't erase your progress without erasing your character. EA did not include such a feature. - "Eric" writes: ok my name is eric and ive had tiger woods pga tour 2004 for about three months now. i was wondering if we can actually play with tiger on the tour mode or the global thing. i mean i was really mad when i found out i couldnt do that. so please if u can email me as soon as possible i would greatly apprieciate it. - My response: Sorry! In TW2002 and TW2003, you could play as Tiger. This year, when EA implemented the Create a Golfer mode, they make you play the game with your created golfer. You can still use Tiger in the traditional modes and the skillzone. - "J.R." writes: Are sponsors random? I play with my buddy everyday, and he has two sponsors and I don't have a single one yet. We are equally good, I beat him he beats me, and so on. - My response: Yes, the sponsors are somewhat random. They seem to occur at scheduled intervals based on your percent completion, but the order in which they occur is random. - "HR Angelico" writes: just started tournament 3 (tiger woods 2004 xbox), The Hollywood Pro-Am. I thought a pro-am was a team match, Me with another Golfer. Yet, I am still alone......Why would this be? Am I wrong? - My response: You're right about real life, but EA did not implement that for the game. That would be way too difficult to implement. - "Mark" writes: What mode of the game do I have to be in to record my eagles in Penguin Falls? There's no tournament with that course. That's my last course to complete my eagles. - My response: Just use any traditional game mode with mulligans off. - "Datech" writes: In my player resume, i have 5/13 All Time Records Held. looking at the alltime records, the longest drive is currently 37200 Yds set by M.TA'A VATU. How am i expected to beat this?? - My response: This is a glitch in the game. You don't have to beat that distance. If you beat the "real" record, you'll get the all time record. - "LarryN" writes: BlackWidow, where can I get additional information about on-line play for TW2004? For example, is there any way to know when someone is busy before going through the challenge sequence of clicks? What do the different colors on the signal strength balls stand for? How do I use the messaging system? I can’t figure out how, or when, to send the Quick Messages. You would think that there would be some literature somewhere that would cover the operational aspects of playing on-line but I have yet to find it. I even emailed EA customer support but they were no help. Thanks for any guidance on additional information. By the way, how do you set up a challenge response system for emails on Hotmail? Thanks again. - My response: 1) If a player is playing, they will not be listed, so there's no way to know otherwise. 2) The colors represent the signal strength. Green = good, red = bad. 3) Messaging system: push down on R3 during the game and scroll through the numbers to get the message sent that you want. 4) Challenge response: use Mailblocks.com. You can set it up to poll your hotmail account(s) and send challenge response emails. It works like a charm! - "Troy" writes: 1. Does the speed at which you pull back and push forward on the stick have any affect on the swing? I know if you pause at the top of your swing for too long, the shot sucks. But I've seen many shots land way past or way before the landing zone I picked after trying to use the same fluid swing. This was from a flat lie to a level green with no wind. 2. Do you always take a full swing, or do you sometimes use a half swing? I always do a test backswing to see how far the club will go, then on the real swing, I try to backswing to that point, then swing through. Does that sound right? 3. When I use power on the backswing, and I think if you just do a proper swing, you get different animations, like slow motion or full circle camera panning. Do the animnations mean different things, and is one better than the other or are they all just random? 4. I have a GameCube. Do you know if a friend brings his memory card to my machine, can we load characters from each so we can play each other or do all the characters you select have to be from the same card? - My response: 1) Yes. If you don't time the swing correctly, the ball will not go as far. Do the tutorial to get the timing down. 2) I don't always use a full swing. Especially if I'm using a wedge and I'm at a "between club" distance. It's a matter of "feel" on how far back to take those swings. Use the percentages as a guide. 3) The animations are random. However, if you get full power, the commentators will always make a comment such as "Whoa" or something like that. It varies. 4) Your friend can bring over his memory card, but you can only use one memory card slot with the game. EA did not include dual memory card support. - "Kevin" writes: I have a question, I have been playing online for some time now and I have heard that when you complete everything in the game, your drive is maxed to about 450 yards on average. I was curious if you knew anything about this or if there was any validity to this. I am at 226% completion and 96% bonus, all I need yet are career money leader, winning % and the 18 majors. This has been boggling me, asI have heard both sides of the argument and would just like to know if it is worht the effort to go through all the tournaments to get this. - My response: Sorry, this is a nasty rumor. There really is no "end" to the game. You can only play 10 seasons with your player, and the RTE's end in 2006, but even then, you'll still have the standard driving distances. - "Chuckie" writes: Hi there...been looking at your faq at IGN; and got just a few dozen questions...not. #1-can I change the name of my created player without losing it? #2 how do ya use the keyboard to make logos/tatoos? - My response: 1) Sorry, can't change the name. EA did not include that option. 2) Not sure really. I haven't played around with the logos at all. Sorry I couldn't help! - "Andrew" writes: My question is thus: I read the two passwords for Cedic the Entertainer and Sherwood Target course, but what must I do in the game to actually learn these passwords? I guess I could just put them in but, what fun is that instead of earning them. - My response: Sorry, both passwords are not in the game so to speak. The Target Challenge one was only included if you bought the game at Target, then those folks posted it on the web. The Cedric code is only available on the web as well. There's no way to "earn" that password in the game either. - "Pat" writes: can you tell me how many majors there are in a year? and possibly which ones they are? because i notice they are not all listed, and as you know, you need 18 for the tracking tiger ball, so what i want to know is how many seasons i need to complete to get this tracking tiger ball.... - My response: There are 4 each year. They all have "Major" in the title. - "Mario" writes: I have purchased all the Nike equipment (drivers, clubs, woods, and putter). My golfer has 136% power on every attribute. When I use the 400cc Series drivers, I can only go a max distance of about 200 yards (depending on what size driver I use). If I use the ITG Series drivers, I can hit the ball 461 yards. Do you possibly have any insight as to why the Nike brand has short distance than the default clubs? - My response: Well, It sounds like you're using cheat codes to be able to get 136%. I have no idea how those codes work. I don't use them. Sorry! - "Curtis" writes: 1) If you reject a sponsor, will they offer more lately? 2) If you have four "dots" in an attribute (u know the attribute multipliers that items can get you at the proshop), and you buy something that add more to that attribute, do you get better or not. - My response: Not sure if the sponsors come back with more money. I had a guy email me that (using the PC Version - very different) he turned down his sponsors, and he never got any more sponsors. Sounds risky to me. If you spend a lot of time creating a character, you want to be able to have the sponsors. I think I put in the FAQ that once you have the 4 dot modifier, that's it. You could be wearing 10 4-dot items for luck, but you only get the one 4-dot effect. In addtion, if you don't have any 4-dot items, you cannot achieve a 4-dot modifier. You could be wearing 10 3-dot items, and your modifier will only be three dots. - "Zac" writes: One of the questions that you answered was about the side games in tournaments... the only side games I've had in PGA Tour mode was when I tied for 1st place after the final round of play. It was a shoot-out for the first place winner. - My response: Thanks for the tip! I've never actually tied in a tournament yet. The AI players in the first season are not very low scorers. I'll add it into the FAQ - "Jason" and many others write: Hi there. Big thanks for all of the work on this game. I don't know where else to turn as i am having a problem. I have recieved a ball for all 75 par 5's. I have also completed the scenarios. I have not recieved the Eagle Hunt trophy ball thus I am unable to purchase the Best driver. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You. - My response: You're the third person in about a week to email me with this problem. The other two guys emailed me back saying that they got their eagle hunt ball when they got another eagle during regular tournament or world tour play. Seems to be a glitch in the game. - "Jaime" writes: Hi, Is there any way to change the difficulty in tiger woods 2004? Not the course difficulty but the ability of your opponents. Thanks. - My response: Sorry, the only way to increase the difficulty is to play online. Otherwise it's stuck on the setting the game comes with. - "Andy" writes: I was wondering if there is any rhyme or reason to the way the bonus balls come up in the arcade "target" game. I have had them randomly come up but i didnt know if there is anything that I could do to make them come up more frequentley. And also, what is the fastest way to earn money when you first start out, my player isn't good enough to beat people in the world tour yet and I want to know the fastest way to get cash? - My response: Good question on the bonus balls. I think it's based off of your performance. When I'm doing really well, I get lots of 5x bonus balls and the like, but even when I'm doing poorly, I often get a few bonus balls. I think it's random. The best way to get cash is to win tournaments. Takes a little while to play four rounds, but you get tons of cash for winning, the AI is not very good in the first few tournaments, and you get bonus cash if you get any trophy balls (birdie buster, long drive, etc.) There are a few other ways, but I just started out with the world tour and did all the first round guys in each region. They're really short since each is only 9 holes, and they're not too good, so it's easy to beat them. - "Kevin" writes: Do you know any of the brands that sell the controllers with the Turbo feature and where to get them? I can get the all red but you need the turbo to hang with the other players while playing on line. - My response: Get the Logitech Extreme Action controller. Best Buy sells it, it's like $25. It's much better than the standard PS2 controller. It has rubberized grips, programmable turbo, and it doesn't feel cheaply made like some other 3rd party controllers. Best Buy also has free shipping right now. - "Frank" writes: hello, i just recently purchased tiger woods 2004 and i was just wondering if you had an opinion on the best way to build your player up at the beginning of the game, and as you progress, and if you could recommend which clothes and stuff to buy at the beginning of the game. thank you. - My response: Well, it's really up to you how you do it, but here's what I did: 1) Started with the World Tour. You don't get sponsorship bonuses for that anyways, so I bought no new clothes (except for some really cheap ones at the very beginning to make my character look OK). 2) Built up my attributes going through the World Tour, pretty much ignoring the pro shop. 3) Once I was done with the World Tour, my attributes were pretty high, so I started with the PGA Tour Season, and bought whatever was my highest sponsorship at the time (I had around 7 or so sponsors). 4) By the time I got my last sponsor (Nike), I was hauling in $150,000 in bonus sponsor cash per round played ($600K per tournament - often more than the winners share of the purse). 5) I bought "4-dot" items first to get the max multiplier to my attributes. Then I just bought the stuff I thought I needed. - "Jeremy" writes: is there any way at all to unlock phil mickelson, davis love III, david duval ernie els, sergio garcia.. and so on. If you know of any other glitches, email me. 1) Eagle Challenge Ball - Once you get your 75th eagle, the game doesn't give you the trophy ball right away. You have to get another eagle (any eagle, it doesn't matter) to get the trophy ball. - There are other trophy balls like this too. The 100% completion ball comes to mind. You actually need to hit 101% completion. - This is silly. Either call it the Eagle Challenge + One ball, or the 101% completion ball. 2) Tiger's Dream 18 - The Tiger's Dream 18 course counts towards your records for the Spyglass Hill course because the last hole in the Tiger's Dream 18 is from Spyglass Hill. This is silly. Either have a separate records list for Tiger's Dream 18, or have it not count for anything. - The difficulty of the course (Hard) is also based off of Spyglass Hill. 3) Driver Selection - Having to deselect any other club in order to change the degree of your driver is silly. The game forces you to always, always, always have at least one driver selected. This makes you select two of them in order to change the driver degree. - EA: Just allow the player to select another driver degree, then don't allow the player to leave the club selection screen without selecting at least one driver. 4) In the Bag - I'm not the only one who's had this problem: the game not saving your club selections from the "in the bag" menu. - EA: Fix this please! I've gotten it to work for me after fumbling around with it, but I've had this problem with TW2003 as well! 5) Records List - I've had countless emails on what the all time records really are. The "standard" eight are easy to figure out, but the skillzone ones are not. - EA: List which records are required to get the all time records. - In addition, I've gotten emails from folks saying their records do not save all the time when in the skillzone modes. Please fix! 6) Percent completion - I've seen one post on a board that says they've gotten over 243% completion. This is silly. Either have the game stop at 100% or 200%, but anything else is silly. - In addition, it's difficult to figure out what the bonus completion means. Is it the pro shop completion? Trophy ball completion? What? - In addition, you don't get the 100% completion ball at 100%. Why? Why do you need 101% to get the 100% ball? 7) Number of RTEs - I've heard from several folks that they have 75/74 RTE completion listed in their resume. Again, bad math by EA folks. - Also, why are the Father's Day and Stuart Appleby's Birthday RTE's only available in 2005? I don't think many people will be playing TW2004 in 2005, we'll all be playing TW2005 or TW2006 by then! - Finally, why do the RTE's end in 2006 when you can play up to 10 PGA Tour Seasons? 8) Online - I've heard from several folks, and have experienced this myself: sometimes when logging on, the game deletes your setup options. This wiped out my online quick message list, and changed all the game defaults for both the online and offline versions of the game. - Also, someone emailed me stating that their online record was erased. 9) Extremely long drives and putts - I've heard from many folks that their records list gets corrupted. They have 40000+ foot putts and 40000+ yard drives at the top of their lists. This seems to be correlated to those folks who have "cheated" at the RTE's by changing their system clocks, but not always. - This is a minor glitch though. Apparently you can still achieve the all time records by beating the "true" record, but why does this need to occur? 10) Cheaters online - Cheaters ruin online games. I've seen negative scores in the online tournaments. Negative scores! Also, I've played against guys with "super" stats from an Action Replay device. Shoot, Gamepro just published those codes with their January issue. - EA: 2 words for you: XBox Live. Easy enforcement. Mandatory patches. Enough said. If you're not going to do that, fix the game from the get go so that cheaters cannot play online period! It can't be that hard. 11) Side Games - These occured very frequently in TW2002 and TW2003, but in TW2004, for some reason, they only occur in traditional mode games, and in the Tiger Challenge 3 hole tournament. - Looks like a glitch to me. If EA meant for this to only occur in the traditional modes, why are "Side Games" listed in the stats rollup at the end of every round? - Finally, "Zac" above states that they do occur in the PGA Tour Season, but only if you go into a playoff. Weird. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 28) CREDITS AND CONTACT INFORMATION Thanks to EA Sports for making the best Golf game there is.
