Save-where you save your game. Option-this tool allows you to alter your text speed, battle animation and battle style. The overall object of this game is to catch and train pokemon to help you on your way to being the pokemon master. 2. Welcome to the world of pokemon 2.1 Pallet town This tiny little town is where you were born and raised. Now you're leaving it to go and fulfil your destiny as a master pokemon trainer. Your goal in this town is to find prof.Oak and earn your first pokemon. There are only three buildings in this tiny town your own house, your rival’s house and prof.Oak's lab. First you start in your bed room. You will find the usual luxuries.Upstairs you have your SNES computer where there is a potion (a healing potion). Downstairs in the living room you'll find your mother who will heal you with her home made chicken soup. To start your journey, walk out the door and try walking into the grass at the top of pallet town. Who is this man trying to stop me? That my friend is Prof.Oak. He will take you back to his lab. You will receive two tings at two different times. First you'll get the choice of pokemon that Prof.Oak has left on the table. Hmmm.... will you take the flowery Bulbasaur, The water squirting Squirtle, or the fiery Charmander? Which ever you choose be prepared to fight your rival from next door. After you fight your rival leave the lab and head back into the grass. Once you’re in the grass keep going and there will be a boy. Talk to the boy and he will give you a spare potion for being friendly. Once you've done that there is nothing to do in this bit except fight to make your pokemon stronger. At the end of the grassy path you will come to Veridian city. 2.2 Viridian city At first, you won't find much to do here since the gym is closed. But you will get to visit your first pokemon centre (a place to heal your pokemon) And shop at a poke mart. It's a shame they’re all out of potions, though. The main bit of this city now is to get a parcel for prof.Oak from the poke mart. Once you have talked to the man behind the counter and he gives you the parcel. As soon as you get it go back down to pallet town and get to Prof.Oak, he'll be in his lab. Once you talk to him and give him his parcel he will reward you with a pokedex. After you have received your pokedex head over to your rivals home (the top right hand building in pallet town.) Your rival’s sister will be there talk to her and she will give you a copy of a town map (a map of all the towns and routes.) Now you can make your way back up through Viridian city and up again through route two. Keep making your way up until you come to a building (the start of Viridian forest.) If you have ten pokemon while your in this building (you can always come back later) talk to the people and they will give you HM05(flash=a pokemon with this skill can light up a whole cave/dungeon.) Carry on through the door and you will be in the Viridian forest. The way to get though this forest is to turn right at the first turn when you first enter the forest. Then left keep going straight up until you hit a poke ball which contains an antidote. Turn left then just follow the path around. Once you’re out you will be a few steps away from being in pewter city. 2.3 Pewter city Defeating pewter city's gym leader is required to continue your quest. A guy won’t let you enter route 3 unless you have beaten the Brock! Brock’s pokemon are stone type. Brock’s pokemon line up Geodude lv12 Onix lv14 The best type of pokemon to use on these rock pokemon is water type. With Brock being the first gym leader I bet your thinking it’s not going to be all that hard. Well considering you have only fought tiny bug, bird and rodent pokemon It’s going to be harder than you expect. But use water pokemon around lv11 or higher and you should be just fine. Once you have defeated Brock leave the gym and head right towards route 3. Route 3 After that fierce battle with Brock, it’s time to relax in a few friendly bouts with the trainers on this road, and then head over to Mt.Moon. There are eight trainers who want a fight on this road but you don’t need to fight them all.2-3 are the minimum to fight.Route 3 is a pretty straight forward easy to get through place with a pokemon centre at the end, you should have no problem at all. There is a guy at the pokemon centre trying to sell a magikarp. He’ll make it sound like a sweet deal but don’t be fooled magikarps are not really worth anything until they become Gyrados. Mt.moon is right next to the pokemon centre pokemon. Mt.Moon Team rocket (an evil team that hate you) has infiltrated Mt.Moon. You’d better go find out what they are doing here. There are many ladders in Mt.Moon but there is only one way that will lead you where you need to go. First go straight ahead then turn right, then left follow the wall on your left and then follow it back round to the other side there will be a ladder in front of you but don’t use it. After you keep following the wall there is a big empty space with a ladder and a man at the top of it, that’s the ladder you need to go through. You will only be one way to go into the next ladder. Once you’re in a new place again turn right and then down the steps and back up the other set of stairs on the other side. Follow the path all the way until the end there will be a member of team rocket there and you have to fight him. After that there will be one more fight in Mt.Moon and once you beat him you will get a choice between the dome fossil (the DNA of Kabuto which you can bring back to life later) or the Helix fossil (the DNA of Omanyte) put it in a safe place and don’t loose it once you’ve got it. Then follow the path to another ladder and then when you come to a new place the last ladder is the exit. Once you’re out of Mt.Moon you’ll enter route 4 which is just a path leading into Cerulean city. 2.4 Cerulean city Your passage way is blocked out of Cerulean city until you accomplish a few things. The first thing you have to do is defeat Misty at Cerulean city’s gym. Then take a stroll over nugget bridge to visit that pokemaniac Bill who got himself into a little snag and if you help him out you will be given a ticket for the S.S Anne. Cerulean city’s gym, a gym of water pokemon whose trainer is Misty. The best way to defeat water pokemon is a strong electric or grass pokemon. Misty’s line up Staryu lv18 Starmie lv21 Once you’ve done that head to Nugget Bridge to fight your rival, six other trainers and a team rocket trainer at the end. Then you have a lot more trainers to defeat. After you get through them enter bill’s house. There will be an animal on the floor, or is it? No it’s bill. He has gone and turned himself into a pokemon. Talk to him and he will say something and he will step back into the machine that turned him into a pokemon and go to the computer and press A. Once bill is back to himself talk to him and he will give you a S.S Anne ticket. Once you’ve got it head back down into the city. Then the house at the top right hand corner of the city. Go into the house and out the back. There will be a member of team rocket at the back of the house. After you defeat him there are two ways to go. One is going right into route 9 which you need to go later but not now. The other in straight down into route five which you need to go. Right at the bottom you get a two buildings, the one at the right is the one you need to take. Once you come you need to head towards the bottom. In this route there are six trainers but you only have to fight two. After you’ve defeated the two trainers and kept going downwards you’ll come to Vermilion city. Vermilion city Welcome to the seaside city of Vermilion. Here pokemon and pokemaniacs are celebrated by all. If you don’t believe me then pay a visit to the pokemon fan club. There are three very important things to do that will benefit you later on in the game. First visit the pokemon fan club, to find the president of the pokemon fan club. He will give you a voucher for a bike which you can get from the store in Cerulean city. The next thing to do is head down the right and down again to go onto the S.S Anne. There are many, many things to do on the S.S Anne but the main reason why you’re on here is to get hm 01 cut from the captain. To get to the captain’s room go left, and go into the set of stairs that are at the end of the deck. Next go down towards another set of stairs but don’t go into them turn right. Before you can get to the captain’s room you will have to fight your rival. The stairs are just behind your rival so head up them and talk to the captain who is feeling sick. Once you’ve helped him out he will give you hm01 cut. Once you have hm01 go back off the ship and it will set sail. Go back into the city and now you can enter the gym. Teach a pokemon cut and you’re ready to go. There is a tree stump in the way, now is your time to use cut. Press start, go to pokemon, select the pokemon you taught cut to, click on it and cut will be an option. Once the tree is cut head on into the gym. This is a different type of gym. There are trash cans everywhere. Well the reason why there are trash cans everywhere is because they have a hidden code. Now the code is not a fixed code for every game so you will have to defeat the junior trainers and make them talk. Once you have figured out the code its time to face Lt. Surge. Lt.Surge’s line up Voltorb lv21 Pikachu lv18 Raichu lv24 The only real threat to electric pokemon are ground type pokemon. If you’ve got one of those this fight is yours. After you have defeated Lt.Surge go back up to Cerulean city where you can collect your very own bike. Once you have got it you have a choice. Go back all the way to route two to get flash or head straight to rock tunnel which a horrible place to visit unless you have flash which will illuminate the cave otherwise your in complete darkness You can make it through without flash because the walls are slightly illuminated but it’s hard to dodge trainers in the dark. I can’t really help you here because there is nothing to know, except follow the walls through because there is only one way to go. Once you’re out you’ll be in route ten. Route ten leads into lavender town. Lavender town This tiny town south of rock tunnel it’s home of pokemon tower, a place where dead pokemon are laid to rest. There isn’t much point in staying in lavender town with out a sliph scope. So go left into route eight. You have to go the of the right hand corner where another under ground passage is located. Once you have been through the under ground tunnel you will end up just outside Celadon city. Celadon city will be at the top left hand corner of the path. Celadon city Celadon city is known for its large department store and game corner. There are rumours that the game corner is actually run by team rocket and their hide out is nearby. While you’re in town why not mix business with pleasure and pay them a visit? A rare opportunity is right here in Celadon. There is a secret door into Celadon mansion that you shouldn’t miss. As soon as you enter the city the first building will be a pokemon centre but just before that there is a gap up the side, go up there and follow it round until you seen a break in the wall walk through there and turn left and shortly after you will see another break in the wall and that’s where the secret door to the mansion is. Once in you will be in a big stair case just follow the stairs up to the top floor. The top floor is a room with a pokeball on the table with a very rare pokemon inside called Eevee. For more information on this pokemon pay another visit to bill the pokemaniac. The department store is very big and you can find almost everything here. The thing that will benefit you the most however is a drink from the top floor vending machine that will let you pass through those buildings with the grumpy guards. Celadon gym’s gym leader is Erika, her pokemon type are grass. A fire pokemon powerful enough will take them down easy. If you chose charizard at the beginning of the game you will be in and out of this gym within five minutes. Erika’s line up Victreebel lv29 Tangela lv24 Vileplume lv29 Next go to a restaurant and talk to all the people there one of them will give you a coin case that you use to keep all your coins in from the game corner. The restaurant is a building to the left as soon as you cut the tree down blocking the gym entrance. Next head over to the game corner. It is the big building behind the restaurant. Yes there are a lot of fun games to play and coins to win but that isn’t the real reason you’re in there. At the back of the room there is a member of team rocket guarding a poster but why? Well the anser to that is that by clicking on that poster will reveal the secret entrance to team rockets hideout. Get the team rocket out of the way and reveal it and a staircase will show up on the wall. So once you’re into the team rocket’s hideout the place is quite confusing. There are many floors are confusing puzzles in this place so read carefully. I’m going to get straight to the point and take you right to the team rocket boss. Once you’re in team rockets hideout you will just come out of one stair case and there will be another staircase right next to you, use that to get to the next floor. Go down to the wall and there will only be one way to go. Then go back up until you find another staircase use it and you’ll be on a new floor. So you’re on the new floor you can either head downwards or left, go left until there is a little break in the wall. Go down there and take the first left not the second. Continue going left until you can go down. But you have two options and they are to go down on the first step opening onto the directional pad or onto the floor. Take the floor and go left onto the other directional pad you’ll get stopped, now go down onto the directional pad. Once you get stopped again go back left until you can go down, keep going down until you have reached a directional pad that will take you back up. Do not use that, take two steps back up and then turn right until you reach the directional pad that points downwards. You’ll get stopped and turn left and then go down turn right and go back up again and use the staircase. Now go up until you can turn left and there will be a member of team rocket. That is the guy with the key card for the elevator. Once you beat him he will run off and drop the key. Pick it up and go back down the staircase. Turn left and onto the directional pad 3.
