This walkthrough is about the different plates that you find in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl throughout the game. In this guide I will give out information regarding where you can find the plates and what they do. This guide is made specifically for Cheathappens and therefore has my permission to be posted on the site. Thank you and enjoy my guide. ~LoC_Leftie 2. What is a Plate? A plate in Pokemon Diamond or Pokemon Pearl is an item that has a special power. Unfortunately, this power can only be used when it is attached to an Arceus, the rarest Pokemon in the game, and also one of the few that are unobtainable without using a cheating device or trading with someone who has used a cheating device. Each plate has its own power, say for instance the Splash Plate. You can tell by the name that it has something to do with water. Well that is correct. The Splash Plate, when attached to Arceus, makes Arceus's most powerful move, Judgment a water attack. Judgment is a move that only Arceus can learn and has a base attack of a 100 damage effect. When this plate is attached to Arceus, the attack will then be a water attack. This can be helpful in a battle lots of times. Without a plate, Judgment will be a normal attack, but with the Splash Plate being held, the attack will be water-based. 3. Plates Now it's time to take a look at all the different plates and their different abilities. I will give out information regarding where you can find the plates, what color they are, what type they are for, and possibly other information. Arceus is white with yellow "poles" surrounding its body and also has a yellow glass-like mask on its face. Arceus also has yellow hooves. When Arceus is given a plate, the yellow parts on its body will change color according to the plate. You can always find plates in the Underground, there is one specific place for them when you're above ground, but the plates can be all over in the Underground. 3.1 Draco Plate The Draco plate makes Arceus's Judgment move a Dragon attack. Its yellow spots on its body will turn purple and green, symbolizing a dragon. This plate is found in Eterna City using the Dowsing Machine application on your Poketch. You can also find this item in the Underground, as a piece of buried treasure in the walls. 3.2 Dread Plate As you can somewhat tell by the name, dread is similar to the Dark type. Now Judgment will be a Dark attack instead of a normal attack. Arceus will turn black and red, a pretty neat-looking combination if you ask me. You can find this plate in the Old Chateau, in the back room, and to the left of the room with the TV in it. You will not need to use your Dosing Machine application to find it. The Old Chateau can be found in Eterna Forest. You can also find this plate in the Underground. 3.3 Earth Plate The Earth Plate obviously has something to do with the ground, so this plate makes Arceus's Judgment move a Ground attack. Arceus will turn brown and light gray when holding this plate. The Earth Plate is found in the Oreburgh Gate, and of course in the Underground. 3.4 Fist Plate Since fists have to do with punching, the Fist Plate turns Arceus's Judgment attack into a Fighting move. This plate will turn Arceus dark brown and orange when held. You can find this plate on Route 215 and in the Underground. 3.5 Flame Plate Flames are a part of fire, so this plate makes Arceus's special attack a Fire move. This plate turns Arceus dark red and bright orange, the color of fire. It can be found in the interior of Stark Mountain, but only by using the Dowsing Machine. It is also found in the Underground. 3.6 Icicle Plate Icicles are made from ice, so this plate turns Judgment into an Ice attack. When held by Arceus, this plate turns him light blue and white, the color of ice and snow. The plate is found on Route 217 and in the Underground. 3.7 Insect Plate Insects are bugs, so this plate has to do with the Bug type. It turns Arceus's strongest move into a Bug attack, as well as turning Arceus a darkish green and pink color. This is one of the weirdest-looking combinations of color for Arceus. This plate is located in Eterna Forest, but make sure to use your Dowsing Machine. It is also in the Underground. 3.8 Iron Plate The Iron Plate's name sounds like metal, and the only metal type in Pokemon is steel. So, this plate turns Arceus's Judgment attack into a steel move. It also turns Arceus a light- gray color with some spots of yellow. It is found on Floor B2 of Iron Island by using the Dowsing Machine, and in the Underground. 3.9 Meadow Plate Meadows are usually filled with grass, so this plate must have something to do with the Grass type. This plate makes Judgment a grass attack. When Arceus is holding the Grass Plate, he will turn bright green and yellow. This plate is found on Route 210 by using the Dowsing Machine, as well as in the Underground. 3.10 Mind Plate The Mind Plate sounds like psychic or telepathic abilities, so this plate turns Arceus's best move into a Psychic attack. It also turns Arceus dark pink and bright green. This plate is found in the Solaceon Ruins and in the Underground. Luckily, you won't have to use the Dowsing Machine to find this plate, or else it would take a long time. 3.11 Sky Plate The sky obviously relates to flying, so when Arceus is holding this particular plate, Judgment will turn into a Flying attack. Arceus will also turn a faded blue color with white spots. The Sky Plate is found in the Pokemon League by using the Dowsing Machine, and in the Underground. 3.12 Splash Plate Splashing has to do with water, so when this plate is held by Arceus, his Judgment attack will be a Water attack. This plate will turn Arceus a beautiful bright blue with blue-green spots. It is found on Route 219 and in the Underground. 3.13 Spooky Plate When I think of spooky, I usually think of ghosts. This plate makes Judgment a Ghost attack. It will turn Arceus purple and red. The Spooky Plate is found in one of the run- down buildings in the top right corner of Amity Square, as well as in the Underground. 3.14 Stone Plate Stone is another word for rock, so this plate makes Arceus's special move a Rock attack. It also turns him a faded brown and faded yellow color. It is found in room 4F of Mt. Coronet, only by using the Dowsing Machine, as well as in the Underground. 3.15 Toxic Plate Toxins are the same thing as poisons, meaning that this plate makes Judgment a Poison attack. It will turn Arceus purple and pink. The Toxic Plate can be found in Area Two of the Great Marsh by using the Dowsing Machine, and also in the Underground. 3.16 Zap Plate The last plate, the Zap Plate, which clearly has to do with Lightning, makes Arceus's special move a Thunder-type attack. It will also turn him bright yellow and orange. This plate is found in Sunyshore City by using the Dowsing Machine, as well as in the Underground. 4. The Dowsing Machine The Dowsing Machine is one of the most important applications (or app for short) for your Poketch, the little watch that takes up the bottom screen of your DS. The Dowsing Machine searches for hidden items in the grass. It scans the area and gives you a little radar picture. If there is an item nearby, it will show up on the radar as a blinking dot. To activate this app, simply touch the screen and a little "ripple" will appear. When that happens, you'll know it is searching for hidden items. You can receive this item when you reach Route 207, either Dawn or Lucas (depending on what gender you chose for your character) will give you the Dowsing Machine as a gift. 5. About Arceus In the Pokedex after you obtain Arceus by either cheating with a cheating device, or trading with someone that has done so, you will find out that Arceus is known as the Creator Pokemon. The Pokemon Diamond Pokedex entry states "It is described in mythology as the Pokémon that shaped the universe with its 1,000 arms." So technically, it created the Pokemon universe. Arceus is also the strongest Pokemon when leveled up to level 100. It is also the only Pokemon that has anything to do with the plates. When given any plate, Arceus will change color and its ultimate move, Judgment, will turn into the type of the plate, like I stated earlier in this guide. Arceus is also a strange Pokemon that learns new moves every time it levels up 10 levels. So, it learns a new move at level 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. Well, thanks a lot for reading my guide, I hope it helped! ~LoC_Leftie
