Introduction + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1a.About me -------------------------------------------------------- Hello, my name is Daniel, AKA Itachi_Uchiha on cheathappens.com. This is my first ever guide, and I've been wanting to write one for a while. Feel free to send any kind of feedback so it can help me be a better writer, and make better guides in the future. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + 2. Basic Information + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 2a.How to work the guitar -------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: All of this can also be found in the tutorials. The guitar is a plastic guitar shaped controller that you use to play guitar hero. You can also use a regular controller, but it is not recommended as it is difficult and annoying to use. There are two types of guitars, the wired Xplorer, from Guitar Hero 2, or the wireless Les Paul, from Guitar Hero 3. Updated third party guitar controllers or guitars from different games may be released. On both of the controllers, there will be a Xbox 360 menu button , a directional pad, a start and back button, a thin metal whammy bar, a black strum bar, and 5 colored frets. The guitar also comes with a detachable strap and stickers. -The Xbox 360 menu button is used to access the Xbox 360 sideboard, just like on regular controllers. -The directional pad has the same function as on a regular Xbox 360 controller. -The start button is used to pause the game and access the pause menu at any time during a song. -The back button is used to go to the previous menu, but can also be used to activate starpower. -The whammy bar is used by pressing down on when holding held notes to "bend" the sound. -The strum bar is strummed any time a note crosses the fretboard. -The colored frets are pressed down while strumming, and must match the notes appearing on the screen. You can also activate starpower by lifting the neck of the guitar. You will know when it is activated, because all the notes on the screen will become blue. 2b.Advanced Techniques ---------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: All of this can also be found in the tutorials. Aside from all the stuff pre-motioned in "How to work the guitar", there are also some other techniques that are not required, but can make playing a lot easier. These techniques include starpower, and hammer-on's/pull-off's. 1-Starpower-When activated, starpower will turn all of your notes blue. This also doubles all the points you get while it is activated, and if you're failing, makes the rock meter increase more rapidly. To get starpower, you must hit a full star phrase. A star phrase is several notes in a row that all have a star instead of a plain circle for the note. Once you hit all of a star phrase, a meter above the rock meter will show you how much starpower you have. It takes two full star phrases to get enough starpower to activate it. Once you have enough starpower, the meter will turn blue, and to activate it, just lift the neck of the guitar upwards. 2-Hammer-on's/pull-off's-NOTE:In this guide, I will be referring to these as ho's and po's. Ho's and po's are virtually the same thing. The purpose of these are to reduce the amount of strumming necessary. When you see a note where the center is glowing, rather than being empty, you can press down that note without having to strum, as long as you hit the note prior to it. Some songs I'd recommend to practice ho's and po's are My Name is Jonas, Lay Down, and The Metal. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + The Achievements + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 3a.Achievement list and requirements ------------------------------------------------------- -Career Achievements -Easy Rider-5 points-Complete a Career on the Easy Difficulty. -Medium Rare-10 points-Complete Career Mode on the Medium difficulty. -Always Hard-15 points-Complete Career on the Hard difficulty. -Right Hand of God-20 points-Complete Career Mode on the Expert difficulty. -Solo Career-25 points-Complete all Career difficulties. -Axe Grinder-10 points-Earn 5 stars on all songs on the Easy difficulty. -Rock Guru-20 points-Earn 5 stars on all songs on the Medium difficulty. -Shredder-30 points-Earn 5 stars on all songs on the Hard difficulty. -Guitar Hero-75 points-Earn 5 stars on all songs on the Expert difficulty. -Hendrix Reborn-10 points-Complete Career Lefty and Righty. -Too Many to Count-25 points-Hit 250,000 notes in Career. -Never Gonna Spend It All-10 points-Earn $350,000 in career lifetime earnings. -Buy a Guitar Already-15 points-Play through a career on the Hard or Expert difficulty using a standard controller. -Enlightened Guitarist-30 points-Gold Star 20 songs on Expert. -100 Million!?! To complete this achievement, you simply need to finish career mode on easy. Unfortunately, if you have played Guitar Hero games before, and you would like to play on a difficulty higher than easy, you will not get this achievement after completion. -Medium Rare-This achievement is the same as Easy Rider except you must complete the career on medium. If you cannot finish the medium career, I'd recommend that you try to 5-star previous songs until you get good enough to complete a song that you're stuck on. -Always Hard-This achievement is the same as the two above, except in this career must be completed on the hard difficulty. If you are having troubles completing songs on hard, than I'd recommend going into practice mode and playing parts you fail at on lower speeds until you get good enough to pass the song. -Right Hand of God-This achievement is the same as the three above, except this must be completed on expert. This achievement can be very difficult and take lots of time and practice. When stuck on a song, I'd either go back and try to 5-star easier songs or to try to play it in practice, like mentioned previously. If you are really struggling and only care about the achievement, you could also get somebody to help you on songs you're stuck on. -Solo Career-This is just a bonus for completing career on easy, medium, hard, and expert, so if you're going for all the achievements, this should be fairly easy to get. -Axe Grinder-To get this achievement, you just need to earn a 5-star rating on all the songs on the easy difficulty (only applies to main setlist). If you can complete hard or expert career, this should be easy. If not, try to only use star power when you have a 4x multiplier. -Rock Guru-This achievement has the same concept as Axe Grinder except on the medium difficulty. If you can't 5-star any songs, you should do the usual stuff like practice. Also remember, you always get more points when you have a higher multiplier. -Shredder-This is the same as the two previous achievements except on the hard difficulty, if you're stuck, just remember to practice. -Guitar Hero-This is probably one of the most difficult achievements in the game. You have to earn a 5-star rating on all the songs on the Expert difficulty (only applies to main setlist) to get this. This could take a lot of time and practice. If you get stuck on a song, try to play through parts on a slower speed until you can pick up any pattern or rhythm to the part, and then try again. Remember, this is very difficult. -Hendrix Reborn-To get this achievement, complete career with the hand you normally play in, and then you must complete career mode again with lefty flip on (or off, if you played the first time as lefty). There are a couple of ways to make the second part easier. One way is to play on lefty flip while looking into a mirror that shows the reflection of the TV, which will make the notes appear normal. You could also play it on easy, and just try to survive through playing the songs with the notes appearing backwards. -Too Many to Count-This achievement will take a very long amount of play time to complete. To get the achievement, try to complete all difficulties, and when you just want to play for fun, try to chose career mode instead of quickplay. If you play long enough, eventually you'll get it. Unfortunately, there is no way to check how many notes you've hit. -Never Gonna Spend It All-This is probably one of the most time consuming achievements in the game. To get this you will need to make three to five bands and complete career mode on every difficulty with each of them. -Buy a Guitar Already-There are three ways to do this achievement. One way is to just become really good with the controller and actually play through hard or expert with it. The second way is to get 4 friends to help you with this, so each of you will only have to press one button. The third and easiest way is to complete hard or expert career with the regular guitar, and then after that you could either turn off the guitar ad plug the controller in right after you win the last boss battle, or you could come back to career mode with the controller plugged in and select hard of expert career and you should get the achievement. Youtube guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxxpQaYDKlI -Enlightened Guitarist-To get this achievement you could do two different things. One way would be to actually get 100% on 20 different songs on expert. The second way is a glitch. To do this glitch you will need to use the unlock everything cheat. After that go into expert career and play Slow ride. Get 100% until your rock meter is full and you have enough star power to activate it. Once that happens, stop hitting notes, and once your rock meter falls into the yellow, use starpower. Once you fail, you should get the achievement. Youtube guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=qv7JeJRXpIM -100 Million!?! Gulp!?!- This is kind of like the "Too Many to Count" achievement, just play a lot and eventually you will get the achievement. 3c.Completeing the Co-op achievements ------------------------------------------------- -That's What Friends Are For-This achievement should be fairly easy, all you have to do is complete co-op career. You will need another player to help you with this, but you can each do it on any difficulty. -Guitar Wizard-This is fairly easy as well, there is no difficulty requirement, but you must do EVERY song as the lead guitarist. -Back Up Hero-This should be a little easier than Guitar Wizard, as it is the same thing, only you must play every song on bass/rhythm guitar. -Easy Duo-To get this achievement you must 5-star every song on co-op. This should come quite easily, but if not, just remember to keep practicing and keep trying until you get it. -Medium Duo-This could be a little harder than Easy Duo. To do this both players need to be on medium difficulty or higher, nobody can play on easy. If you are struggling with this, remember to save starpower, and use it when you have a 4x multiplier. -Hard Duo-If you get stuck on this achievement, remember to try to use starpower when there are multiple notes or chords coming up, which will increase your score. Both players must be on at least hard to get this achievement. -Living Legends-This will be very difficult and could take a very long time. Remember to try and keep a 4x multiplier as much as possible, to use starpower when there are lots of notes coming up, and if you really get stuck on a song, try this technique. Try to learn where all the starpower phrases are, and find a way to make best use of your starpower, making sure it doesn't overlap other starpower phrases and that you use it when you will get the most points off of it. This is called an optimal starpower path. -A Couple of Streakers-This should be quite easy, and you can also do it online. You can either chose an expert song you are really good at (all expert songs have more than 200 notes), or chose a song on easy that has 200 notes and get 100%. -Two Timer-This should also be fairly easy if you follow the technique above, and if you have a player better than you, have them do lead while you do backup. -Dynamic Duo-This could be difficult, but there are two easy ways to do this. One way is to play Bulls on Parade, both expert, and get 100%. The other way is to do Through the Fire and Flames, both easy. -Streak Masters-This is very difficult to get, but the easiest way to do this is to play Through the Fire and Flames on medium. -Two by Four-To get this, simply activate starpower when you have a 4x multiplier. -Leaders of the Pack-To get this you can either choose a song you're really good at, or you can choose a song on easy. To save time, I'd recommend doing Mississippi Queen. -Half Mill' Club-This is somewhat difficult, but if you can both do expert, there are lots of songs that can get you this achievement. -Higher Than Most-This can be quite difficult, as there are very few songs that can get you this achievement. Some songs I'd recommend are One, No More Sorrow (DLC), and Stockholm Syndrome (DLC) -Millionaire Club-This is one of the most difficult achievements in the game. There are only several songs where this is even possible, they are One, Through the Fire and Flames, Ernten Was Wir Säen (DLC), Operation Ground and Pound (DLC), and Revolution Deathsquad (DLC). 3d.Completing the Score/Streak Achievements ---------------------------------------------------- -Bronze Streaker-This achievement should almost be impossible not to get. If you are having trouble getting it, just play any song on medium or higher and just focus on hitting notes. -Silver Streaker-This should also be fairly easy to get. The easiest ways to get this are to do a song on hard or expert and do good for the first minute or so, or play on medium and combo most of the song. -Gold Streaker-This may be a little harder, but not to difficult. Either get 100% on a song on the higher difficulty section of medium, or try to do good on mid to high difficulty on hard or expert. -Streak Master-To get this achievement, I'd recommend 2 methods. You could either play Stockholm Syndrome (DLC) on expert and combo up to the middle of the second verse, or you could do it the easy way and do Through the Fire and Flames on easy. -First Big Score-You can get this achievement on most expert and hard songs, so just play a song you can do good on. -Half a Mill'-There are only a small portion songs that can get you this achievement. Those songs are Holiday in Cambodia (with a near Full Combo), Cherub Rock (With a near FC), Before I forget, Stricken, Knights of Cydonia, The Number of the Beast, One, Take This Life, The Way it Ends, Through the Fire and Flames, All my Life (DLC), The Pretender (DLC), The Devil Went Down to Georgia (DLC), Ernten Was Wir Säen (DLC), No More Sorrow (DLC), (F)lannigan's Ball (DLC), Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya (DLC), Stockholm Syndrome (DLC), Problems (Live at Brixton) (DLC), Soothsayer (DLC), and any song from either the Dragonforce track pack or the Death Magnetic album. -Now That's Impressive-This is quite difficult to get, as there are only 8 songs that can get you this achievement. Those songs are Through the Fire and Flames, (The rest of the songs are DLC), The Devil Went Down To Georgia, Ernten Was Wir Säen, Heroes of Our Time, Operation Ground and Pound, Revolution Deathsquad, All Nightmare Long, and Cyanide. Remember that getting this will require a very good score on any of these songs. -Perfectionist-If you need help getting this achievement, I'd recommend playing Mississippi Queen on easy, as it is easy and short. -Who Needs the Power-Getting this achievement could take quite a bit of practice. There are 2 ways to do it. The first thing is that you need to be able to get 100% on everything but the solos on expert. You also need to be able to hit a fair amount of the solo on expert. The second option is to play the song on hard, but doing so will only allow you to miss a few notes to get it. Also, for both the achievements, you can use starpower at the end of the song, as long as it doesn't run out before the song stops, it will still count! -Whammy Mania-The main thing you have to make sure to do for this is to be able to hit all the held notes. Once you can do that, all you need to do is tape your whammy bar down or have a friend hold it down for you. -Star Mania-Note: You must do this on quickplay. This achievement does not require you to beat the song, you just need to activate starpower 3 times. It is easiest done if you just use starpower right after you get it, so you can try to do it before the solo. -The Inhuman Achievement-This will take lots of practice. To get this achievement, you simply need to pass the song. As for how to pass the song, I will most likely be adding a guide on how to beat it in a future update. 3e.Completeing the Store Achievements ------------------------------------------------- The 4 achievements that follow are all completed the same way. To do these you just have to buy all the items required in the achievements from the store. If you run out of money before getting all of these, just get higher scores on career mode. All these achievements can also be unlocked by simply entering the "unlock everything" code which is G+R+B+O, G+R+Y+B, G+R+Y+O, G+B+Y+O, G+R+Y+B, R+Y+B+O, G+R+Y+B, G+Y+B+O, G+R+Y+B, G+R+Y+O, G+R+Y+O, G+R+Y+B, G+R+Y+O. -Axe Collector -Track Master -Got 'em All -Burnin' a Hole in Your Pocket 3f.Completeing the Xbox Live Achievements -------------------------------------------------- -Life of the Party-The key to this is to remember that it is 15 songs, not 15 battles. The easiest way to do this is to host 15 matches with 1 song in each match, and just be sure to choose a song you are really good at. -Search and Destroy-This achievement is difficult to get considering the opponent chooses the songs. The best way to do this is to search for matches on one difficulty lower than what you normally play, which would most likely mean you are better than the other player. -Streaker-You could either do this by choosing an easy difficulty, or if you aren't afraid of a little shame, tell the person you are playing that if they let you get a 150 note streak, you will let them win. -Button Masher-In this achievement, you don't have to go 15 songs without losing, you just have to go 15 wins without using the guitar. I'd recommend either getting a friend to help you with this or playing on easy. -Meet Your Maker-To get this, you really only need to beat someone else who has the achievement, which should be just about everybody, so just try and get 1 win and you will probably unlock the achievement. -Big 'Ol Pile of Wins-This is going to take a while to get. I really wouldn't try playing 500 full matches unless you absolutely love the game, what I'd recommend doing is playing 1 song battle matches, and failing as quickly as you can. The only problem with this is that it will make your win/loss ratio greatly decrease. 3g.Completeing the "Other" Achievements ------------------------------------------------- -Tone Deaf-This is easiest to do on a song like Slow Ride or Mississippi Queen. Just make sure you turn the volume on the game to zero via the menu, rather than turning the volume down on your television set. -Ready to Rock-If you are new to the game, I'd suggest you do the tutorial regardless of any achievements, as it will help you more than you might think. If you are a more experienced player, just do the tutorial, and if you get bored and want to give up, remind yourself, it is 10 gamerpoints in 5 minutes. -The Long Road Ahead-This may be the most time consuming achievements in the game. The first thing you have to do is complete career mode on easy, medium, hard and expert. Tips on how to beat these are mentioned earlier in the guide. Remember, you can't just beat expert, you have to do ALL of them. The second part is buying everything from the store. After beating all the career difficulties, you'd probably have enough money for this, but if not just keep on playing songs and getting higher scores on them. The other alternative to this is to use the "unlock everything" cheat. The last part is the 100 online matches. You cannot track these on the game, so you will either have to keep playing, or keep track of these from the start. The best way to do this is to either play 5 1 song matches every day, or to keep doing battle mode and failing the song right when it starts. Also, all the matches have to be ranked matches. 3h.Completeing the Secret Achievements -------------------------------------------------- -Tail Between Your Legs-This can be unlocked after you reach the first boss battle. When prompted to press green to accept the battle or red to reject it, simply press the red button. -Blowin' It-There are 2 easy ways to do this. The 1st way is to just chose any song on expert and right when it starts strum as fast as you can, repeat as necessary. Another way is to play Through the Fire and Flames on expert 10 times UNLESS you can complete the intro. -Almost Got It-To get this, choose a song (preferably a short song) like Mississippi Queen, and when you are nearing the very end of the song, strum as fast as you can. I'd recommended waiting until the last couple of notes to make sure you don't fail before 90%. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + Closing regards + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4a.Copyright --------------------------------------------------- This guide was made by Daniel Stybel, finished in 2008.
