Outdoor Adventures is another 'successful' hunting game. Basically, you travel to different locations and hunt all sorts of animals. Your main goal is to gain more trophies and a good reputation as a hunter. Cabela's is in fact an outdoor accessories store based in the U.S, but in time, they based videogames on themselves, but the real credit goes to Activision for creating yet another great game. They released this title on 09/14/05 (in the U.S). You should take some time to get used to the game, and figure out all of the characteristics and features. In time, I believe that everyone would love this game if they gave it a chance. -THE GUIDE- Hello, and welcome to my guide for the game. This is my 7th guide as of now, and I am proud to inform that it is probably one of my best ever. Recording the game data almost killed me in the end, but I finally did it. This guide will run you through everything there is to know about Outdoor Adventures 2006. One major feature is that I have even provided a slight walkthrough/strategy guide for the missions. And of course, all the other basic and in depth data is in here as well. On one quick final note, I would like to say one thing, tables. Get used to them because I have used them a lot on this guide, and once you look through them for a while you should get used to it. So anyway, let's get on with the show! ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 2) CONTROLS | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' I have listed every control system possible. If you have played any of the other common shooting games on Playstation 2 then you should be able to get familiar with these controls without any issues. So here they are. I advise that you read each section carefully as it will pretty much walk you through everything you need to know to be a successful hunter in the game. Everything is here, so you shouldn't have trouble playing the game so long as you read this part :) If you have any further problems while playing the game, then feel free to email me for help. Anyway, heres everything you need to know: *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* EXPERT TIPS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Well these aren't really the tips of an expert, they are from me. But when you think about it, there's really no difference ^_^ These will help you dearly while hunting, and will ensure that even the hardest of hunts are made easier. - Try to approach an animal while the wind is blowing against you. This will decrease the chances of the animal spotting or hearing you. - When an animal is facing you, crouch down and stand perfectly still until you get a clean shot of it. - Orange clothing is good to wear when hunting for deer only as they are colour-blind to orange. - ALWAYS CROUCH WHEN APPROACHING AN ANIMAL! - If you are tired and breathing loudly, DO NOT approach an animal as they may hear your loud breathes and run away. - When using animal calls near animals, wait for a reply from them. If you hear one then this means that they are coming towards you and are looking for other friendly animals. Keep using the call to bring them closer until you have a clean shot. - It is always a good idea to set up decoys and use animal calls while hiding in tents or stands. - While you are at heights from hills etc, use your scope to look for animals. - Don't try to deliberately shoot an animal in the head. While it may be better for your reputation points, it is very hard to actually get them in the head. The best and easiest place to shoot them is directly in the body section. Most times, they will die instantly but if it is weak firearm, they will only be wounded. - Always wear white winter clothing and snowshoes when hunting in the winter season. This will decrease the chances of an animal seeing you as you will blend in with the snow. And even if they do spot you, you will have a running advantage with the snowshoes. You will be very surprised at how hard it is for animals to run in the snow. - If you are running after an animal, try to get within arms reach of them. At this point (either as a part of a glitch or your character grabbing the animal), the animal will stop for a moment and stay still. At this point, take your shot as soon as possible! - Deer stands are always good places to hide from animals. Also, the height advantage will allow you to scan the nearby area of animals. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* REGULATIONS AND LAWS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* While some missions have their own specified rules, all other hunts and missions have the basic laws which you must follow. They include: - You may not shoot any animal you do not have a tag for - You may not fire within 50 yards of any building - You may not use your vehicle to harm animals Breaking any of these rules will result in the following: - First time offence: first warning - Second time offence: Second warning - Third time offence: warned again and $200 fine - Fourth time offence: you will be forced to leave the area and restart the hunt. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* HEALTH METER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Your health status is represented by the human shape icon in the bottom left corner. Each time you start a new hunt, it will start out as a fully filled green icon. Getting attacked by animals, falling from heights, staying underwater or even sprinting too much will result in the meter decreasing. When it reaches the bottom, then this means you are at a critical level and cannot continue the hunt. Sometimes you may suffer, but the meter will not go down, but instead change colour. This means that you are low on energy. When this is the case, you will not be able to sprint as much and your health will decrease quicker. You can refill your health and energy level by eating food (including caught fish), sleeping in tents, using hydration items and using medical kits. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* STEALTH METER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Your stealth meter represents how likely an animal is of seeing or hearing you. It is represented by the green bar to the left of the health meter. Your meter will stay steady as long as you move slowly and also crouch. Sprinting or running will decrease the meter, giving the animal more of a chance of spotting you. You should keep an eye on this constantly when stalking animals. As your stealth statistic increases, the meter will stay steadier even when you are sprinting. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* STAMINA METER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* This meter is located on the bottom left corner of the screen, directly to the right of the health meter. It represents how much stamina you have to sprint or run. The meter decreases while you run or sprint for a long period of time. Once it reaches the bottom, you will only have enough stamina to walk slowly and can only sprint or run again when its refills. You must wait for it to refill by staying still. If it gets too low, then your hunter will start to breath loudly and this may scare of some animals. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* MINI-MAP *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Your mini-map should be constantly viewed. It shows your current direction (North, East, South or West), the direction the wind is blowing and all the animals around the location. The animals are represented by the coloured dots. Yellow dots represent the deer, green dots represent big game animals, the purple dots are the small game animals and the blue dots are dead animals. The dots will always be visible on the map so to find the animal all you have to do is follow the dots which represent them. If you wound an animal, it will be represented by the same coloured dot but this time it will be flashing. Right next to the mini-map is fan like object spinning. This notifies you of the direction the wind is blowing, allowing you to judge the likeliness of the animal hearing or smelling you from the distance. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* SHOOTING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* You already know what button fires the weapon, but you need to be aware of how to shoot etc. The crosshair will always be placed directly in front of your gun and will let you see where exactly the shot is aimed and where the bullet will shoot. It requires a lot of accuracy and practice to be able to shoot an animal with the naked crosshair. Most other times, you will be prompted to shoot them with the zoomed in scope. This makes it a lot more accurate and easier t take down the animal. Holding the L1 button at any time will activate the lock on feature. This will allow you to keep the crosshair still and lock it onto a certain animal. Doing this while zoomed in while lock onto the target automatically. When this is done, the crosshair will turn red, meaning you have a clear shot. However, this is only available on the easiest difficulty. Each weapon can hold up to a certain amount of bullets at one time. After you shoot all the bullets in the ammo clip, the firearm will reload automatically. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* HUNTING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Yes, you do hunt but there is more to the process of just 'hunting'. There are 2 different types hunting styles you can try while playing. And also, some other things you need to be aware of. Observe. a) Stand hunting - just like the name suggests, this is hunting from a stand. Once you find a suitable place to set up your stand, do so and then wait. Using this technique relies on you constantly using the game calls, lures and decoys. This will eventually (after patient waiting) bring the animal to you, giving you an opportunity to take it down. When using the calls, keep listening out for a reply. If you hear one then keep using the call again and again until the animal is within sight. b) Wilderness tracking - this involves you looking for your specified animal with the use of optics and navigation tools and your skills in tracking. Keep looking around for animal tracks as they will tell you which animal has passed (gender, species etc) and the direction it went. To analyse a track, you must be crouching. This hunting style is also helped with the use of calls and lures etc. In other words, you come to the animal, it doesn't come to you. c) Instant actions - these occur at any random time during a hunt. They are extra objectives which you will be given the option of accepting, or declining and continuing with your normal hunt. Although, sometimes you cannot refuse them as they will be mandatory. d) Difficulty levels - There are 3 different difficulty levels to choose from. Each one gets harder and harder. The 3 levels are: *Greenhorn - the easiest of all. This is highly recommended for beginners of the game. In this mode, you will be able to lock onto an animal automatically (even if they are not in sight) and finding and luring animals will be much easier. *Sportsman - on this difficulty, finding the animal is much more difficult. The lock on feature is disabled (but you can still use the steady aim feature) and luring the animals is harder. Calls and lures are less effective. Hunting animals in this mode requires more skill and patience. *Simulation - the hardest of all difficulty levels. This is extremely difficult and should only be chosen by much more experienced hunters. Both the lock on and steady aim is disabled, making shooting an animal much more harder, no matter how close they are to you. Animal lures and calls are a lot less efficient and do not work as effectively. The mini-map is also disabled so you have no way of knowing where an animal is etc. Playing on this difficulty requires a massive amount of patience, skill and stealth. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* FISHING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* As well as hunting animals on land, you will be engaged in fishing. Some missions/hunts require you to fish as a part of your objectives, but even when it is not needed, it's still good to always carry a rod and be prepared. Each location has its own fish to hunt. Fishing can get very difficult, but once you learn how to do it, you will be able to easily catch any type of fish. It took me a while as well, especially seeing as the game only gives a brief (and hard to understand) run through of how to do it. So here is my guide to fishing. See the controls section for a list of the controls when fishing. Basically, when you approach any river or dam, you will see a message at the bottom of the screen saying "Press X to enter fishing mode". While in fishing mode, you can exit it anytime by pressing X again. Anyway, press R1 to throw out your hook. The longer you hold the button, the further the hook will be thrown. Keeping your hook still in the water will do nothing. To get a bite from a fish, you need to constantly be reeling in your hook. Do this by holding down L1. Hold it down only slightly as there is more of a chance of the fish getting caught to the hook if it only travels slowly. Once a fish is caught on your hook, a picture of your directional buttons pad will be shown at the top left hand corner of the screen. You will see that the green light travels around and lights up each of the directional buttons. This is where you must be quick. Press any directional button when it is lighten up by the green light. Once you do so, you will be taken to the underwater view which shows the fish stuck on your rod. First of, keep an eye on the fishing meter at the right. When it is red, press and hold the R2 button. The fish will be swimming away while still caught on your hook. Once the fishing meter turns green and the fish stops, this is when you can reel him in. Hold the L1 button to reel in your hook. Hold it harder this time as this will allow you to reel faster. In time, the fish will again fight off the hook and start swimming away again (thus the meter will turn red). When this happens, just press and hold the R2 button again until the fish stops, at which point you are again free to reel in. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* TRACKING ANIMALS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Finding an animal can become difficult. Thus, you can always look for tracks of animals. Tracks will only be located around areas which animals hang around. To examine a track, you must be crouching. You will se a message at the bottom of the screen saying "press X to analyse track". Once you analyse a track, you will be given information on which animal has passed (gender and species) and the direction it went. The automatic tracking feature is activated by pressing the L3 button. This will search for nearby tracks and show you signs of tracks. Tracking animals is a very vital part of hunting; I suggest you get used to it. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* SCORING SYSTEM *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* For each animal you kill, you will be given an official score for it. Along with that, the screen will also notify you of where you shot the animal, the species of animal it is, the range of your shot and the amount of reputation points you earned from the kill. Overall scores for animals are based on the animal size etc. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* DRIVING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* In almost every hunt, you will find some sort of transport. Whether it is a car, quad motorbike, snow mobile or boat. You can use these to get to places quicker and easier without wasting energy. See the controls section for a list of the controls when handling a vehicle. The disadvantages of using vehicles is that you can easily lose control and crash, which will damage your health quite largely. Also, the sounds of vehicles are certain to scare off nearby animals who hear it. ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 4) MAIN MENU | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' There are many selections on the main menu. Here is a brief description of each option. - OPEN SEASONS - The best way to get into the game quickly. This will take you to play any randomly selected hunt in any location. All the necessary equipment will be automatically equipped for you. - ADVENTURE MODE - This is the main mode of the game. In this mode, you start a career as a hunter. You can do either hunts or missions to progress through the game. You are required to purchase and equip your own firearms and accessories. Do this from the CABELA'S option. You must also build up your own character by completing missions and hunts and earning reputation points. Adventure Mode also has the contests and shooting range option. - HELP - From here, you can get more information about hunting, fishing and driving. - HIGH SCORES - View your longest shots and best overall scores from here. - OPTIONS - Set up the control and audio settings from here. - CREDITS - View the credits of the game. ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 5) ADVENTURE MODE | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' As you already know, adventure mode gives you the actual hunting experience the game is made for. You travel through many different locations and hunt different animals on your journey. You can also do some excess challenging missions. In this mode, you must first choose the difficulty level and then create you characters type and appearance. Each character has their own statistics which include the following. ACCURACY - How well you shoot. In other words, how much of a chance you have of hitting the animal with your shot. This is a real big help in long range shots. STRENGTH - The more strength you have, the more equipment you can carry and longer you can sprint for. This is also very essential. If you have a high strength level, you can carry a lot more equipment in your backpack while hunting. STEALTH - This is the amount of skills you have when it comes to sneaking around animals without them spotting you. The higher your stealth, the less likely an animal is to spot you at any time. A higher stealth level also means that the stealth meter will decrease less often. RESILIENCE - How quickly you run out of energy and lose health. If your resilience is high, then you can take more damage before being crucially injured and the more you can sprint without getting tired. This also effects how you hunt in hard weather such as snow. TRACKING - How much skill you have when it comes to tracking animals and finding tracks etc. As you progress through adventure mode, you will gain more statistics which improve your hunting abilities. You can choose one of these following characters when you start (some need to be unlocked first): O======o==========o=========o==========o============o==========O | TYPE | ACCURACY | STEALTH | STRENGTH | RESILIENCE | TRACKING | O======o==========o=========o==========o============o==========O | 1 | 45 | 45 | 40 | 55 | 40 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 2 | 50 | 55 | 50 | 60 | 50 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 3 | 60 | 40 | 60 | 45 | 70 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 4 | 50 | 40 | 45 | 50 | 35 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 5 | 60 | 50 | 55 | 50 | 45 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 6 | 60 | 60 | 75 | 60 | 55 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 7 | 70 | 55 | 60 | 55 | 60 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 8 | 70 | 70 | 70 | 65 | 65 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 9 | 80 | 60 | 70 | 55 | 70 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o | 10 | 90 | 75 | 80 | 75 | 75 | o------o----------o---------o----------o------------o----------o - - - Once all that is out of the way, you can get on with the actual game! In this mode, you must progress through a variety of different hunts and missions. To purchase new items and equip them in your backpack, select the Cabela's option, and then the Shopping option. Once you have purchased items, select the backpack option to equip them. You can also visit deer country under the Cabela's option. This is where all your hunted animals are displayed. It's always good to stop by here and see your accomplishments. Anyway, the most important options in this are Hunts and Missions. Each will become all more difficult as your progress. Each time you begin in a new location, your guide will briefly run you through the characteristics of it. Completing hunts and missions unlocks new items and earns you new reputation points. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* HUNTS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* [For those of you who are confused when I say Buck or Doe, then take note that a Buck is a male deer and a doe is a female.] With that, here are all your hunts in the game, along with additional information on them. He will praise you for your accomplishment and reveal something very cool to you...what is it? Well, you'll have to complete the hunts to find out :) *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* MISSIONS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* The missions are some extra levels you can play. Each one gets more difficult than the other until eventually, it gets to a point which I like to call 'EXTREMELY DIFFICULT'. Seriously, some of them are flat out hard so don't be surprised if it takes you a while to complete them all. Completing some missions will also unlock you some new items and reputation points. Well since the missions are usually the same every time you play them, I am able to provide a basic walkthrough on them. Hope it helps. MISSION #1 - CATCH 3 WALLEYE AND SHOOT ONE FOX WITH A SHOTGUN FROM UNDER 50 --------- YARDS This one shouldn't be too difficult, and it is a very good first mission to start practicing for future obstacles. Catching the fish will be your first task, head to the dam and find the fishing spot (its good to bring a map). Just take your time as there is no limit. Once you catch the fish, take out your shotgun and head for one of the purple dots on the map, they are all foxes. Now this can be difficult seeing as you're only a beginner so just keep practicing. ITEM UNLOCKED: .22-250 Bolt Action Rifle MISSION #2 - TAKE A ROCKY MOUNTAIN ELK FROM ANY STAND IN UNDER 3 HOURS ---------- This is a winter level, so if you have unlocked the snowshoes, I recommend you bring them. It's better to just bring a tree stand rather than a tripod because the tripod can only be placed on flat land, and there is not much of it in this mission location so once again, bring the tree stand. Finding the elk shouldn't be a problem, unless you play on the hardest difficulty level. Bring a scent cover as they will get scared if they know you are present in the area. Don't forget to spray yourself with the cover as soon as you start, now head for the green dots on the map. Before you get too close to them, set up your tree stand whenever you feel the elk is nearby. This will allow you to search for him with your scope (you do have a scope right? If you don't then I suggest you go back and get one). If you are on the easy difficulty, then you can use your lock on feature to find him. REWARD: $200 MISSION #3 - CATCH 3 RAINBOW TROUT AND TAKE ONE BOBCAT WITH A BOW ---------- The fishing area is directly in front of you as soon as you start. Go forward and start fishing. If you're having trouble finding fish then you can move across to the right to the other fishing spot. Once you catch your 3 trouts, go search for a bobcat. If you have the compact bow unlocked, then bring it as it is much more powerful. The bobcats are small game so follow the purple dots on your map. Be well aware that they will attack you if they see you so a medical kit is essential in this mission. Try to sneak up on them to avoid another dangerous battle with a beast. ^_^ A tree stand should also prove useful in this mission. REWARD: $300 MISSION #4 - FIND AND TAKE THE TROPHY LEGEND ROCKY MOUNTAIN MULE DEER ---------- First off, I highly recommend that you bring a tree or tripod stand, and a ground blind. This is because of the fact that these trophy sized animals are fairly faster than you, so if you do end up finding one and he spots you, you will have to find him again. Also, bring the basic scent cover and a grunt call. If you feel like doing things more skilfully, then you can bring the mineral lick or decoys instead. I usually find this guy relaxing around tree areas and such. This location is well known for its deer so finding them isn't hard at all. The real task here is to find the trophy legend deer which doesn't even look much different from the regular ones. However, one main characteristic which you can tell them apart from is the largeness of the rack and/or antlers. If you see a deer like that, then he is your target so take him down immediately. I also recommend a strong rifle for this mission. Oh and one more thing, the quad motorbike shouldn't be used too much throughout this hunt as it will scare the animals away. Feel free to use it to get away from the cabin area though. ITEM UNLOCKED: Rangefinding scope MISSION #5 - TAKE ONE RACCOON AND ONE ROCKY MOUNTAIN GOAT WITH A MUZZLELOADER ---------- Time to test how good your accuracy really is. In this mission, shooting a small racoon with a muzzleloader may become difficult at first so don't stress too much about it. Just head for the purple dots on the map and find yourself a nice raccoon to hunt. Don't worry if it sees you because they cannot run fast anyway so catching them isn't a worry. Get within a very close distance of them, and then take your shot, BYE BYE raccoon! Next is a mountain goat. I'm not really sure of how good their sensing is but I do know that they will run away as they are very protective animals with very good sight. I recommend that you bring some camouflage clothing which helps you blend in with the surroundings. Also, I like to think that the scent cover helps here as well so bring that along too. One thing which I definitely recommend is a stand. These are very essential when hunting mountain goat because you will be practically invisible to them from heights. The mountain goat will be represented by the green dots on the map display. ITEM UNLOCKED: GPS economy MISSION #6 - FIND AND TAKE THE TROPHY LEGEND COLUMBIAN BLACKTAILED DEER ---------- This is just another simple buck hunting mission. As said previously, look for bucks which have slightly larger antlers than normal because they are your trophy target. Hunting this trophy legend buck requires the same skills and items as before, which again are things like scent cover, a strong weapon, grunt call and decoys. A tree stand will also prove useful in this mission. REWARD: $400 MISSION #7 - TAKE 3 TIMBER WOLVES WITH A BOW ---------- I strongly recommend you wait until you have the compound bow unlocked before you do this mission. The reason being because it is much more advanced than the recurve bow. First of all, make sure you have medical kits in your backpack. Believe me, you will need them. Follow the green dots on the map and you should find wolves. A really big blow is that most of the time they stick together so they will most likely be in packs. And for some reason, they will run away when they see you, but then immediately turn back at you and attack. As recommended by your guide, you should also bring a stand with you. I would use the sneaking skill to hunt the wolves but if you feel you will do better by running in and massacring them, then feel free to do so. One thing you must make sure of is that you only take a shot at the wolves when you know that you have a clean shot. If they are attacking you while you reload your bow, then you will be dead by the time you're done. REWARD: $500 MISSION #8 - CATCH 3 MUSKIE AND SHOOT 3 SKUNKS ---------- This is yet another winter season hunt. You should have the snowshoes unlocked by now so bring them along as it will make it much easier to walk. As soon as you begin (depending on where you select to spawn off) there should be a snowmobile somewhere nearby. Hop onto it and drive towards the fishing area. The Muskie are very common in the waters so catching them shouldn't take too long. Once you have all 3 of them, hop back onto the snowmobile and go towards the purple dots. Skunks are also common so finding them is easy. Once you are in good distance of a skunk, hop off the snowmobile and shoot the skunk. They can't move very fast either because of the snow. ITEM UNLOCKED: Special blend lure MISSION #9 - IN THE SPACE OF 3 DAYS, FIND AND TAKE A SLEEPING SITKA BUCK WITH A ---------- MUZZLELOADER. YOU CAN ONLY SHOOT THE ANIMAL BETWEEN 11am AND 4pm You will mainly need patience in this mission. When you start, the time is about 8am so you will need to wait around for a while. A common technique is to sleep in a tent until 11am. Or you can search around this great looking location and find the possible sleeping areas in advance. Anyway, when you are in the correct time to shoot an animal, no tracking will be needed as the deer is sleeping somewhere. Search your map for deer and go to them. If you find one that is sleeping, then you are allowed to shoot him, thus completing the mission when he dies. DO NOT use any calls or fire any unnecessary bullets as there is a chance you might scare the sleeping buck away. The only thing I recommend you bring is as usual a scent cover, a tree stand and a ground blind/tent. Remember, patience is important! REWARD: $600 MISSION #10 - FIND AND TAKE THE TROPHY LEGEND SITKA BUCK ----------- By now, you should have done this kind of hunts already so check my description on the previous trophy hunts. Just bring the basic deer hunting equipment, and you will be fine. Look for the trophy sized doe, and take it down. ITEM UNLOCKED: .22 LR S-A rifle MISSION #11 - FIND THE WATERING HOLE OF A DESERT BIGHORN SHEEP AND TAKE ONE ----------- DOWN WITH A SHOTGUN FROM UNDER 40 YARDS I don't know how many 'watering holes' there are in this location, but I can only see one on the map so that must be it. To be honest, this is the only mission I have not completed so I really don't know what to do either. My guess is to just WAIT at the watering hole for the sheep to come. Remember that it must be from 40 yards or less so hide somewhere nearby (a ground blind is best) and take him down if/when you see him. REWARD: $700 MISSION #12 - TAKE THE ALBINO MULE BUCK WITH ANY RIFLE FROM A TIPOD STAND. YOU ----------- MUST USE A BUCK DECOY TO LURE HIM Well this may sound hard but when you read the objective carefully, it seems that they are giving you high recommendations. Shooting the buck from a tripod is easy. The problem you will find is that the tripod stand can only be placed on flat terrain and whenever I found myself near an animal, the closest flat spot of land is too far or too close to the buck. Always keep in mind your objective, which states the he must be lured with a decoy. So bring a Mule doe decoy along and set it up where you think there are signs of animals, and make sure it is visible to both you and the other wildlife. Do not set up the tripod too close to the decoy. Don't hesitate to move far back because just remember that you will be up high and have a scope on your weapon if you were smart enough to bring one so you will be able to shoot the Mule as soon as you see it. As usual, I would also bring a scent cover and a grunt call as the decoys work much less effectively when no sound it backing them up. ITEM UNLOCKED: 7mm S-A rifle MISSION #13 - KILL 2 SQUIRRELS, A BLACK BEAR AND A SIKA BLACKTAILED BUCK WITH A ----------- MUZZLELOADER Now this is inarguably one of the most challenging missions. The muzzleloader may have power but the time it takes to reload after a single shot is pathetic. Anyway, you are forced to use one here to hunt all the above animals so prepare for a hard time, really. I would say that the hardest part for me was shooting the squirrels. They are just too small. I recommend that you get within arms reach of them before you attempt taking a shot. And if you miss, then they will most likely be lost in the woods before you reload your weapon again. Anyway, there are really no tricks to the squirrels, just keep trying until you get them both. Hunting the buck and the bear will also be challenging. Just use your previous buck hunting skills and items (scent cover, lures etc) to take him down. And when hunting the bear, make sure you bring a medical kit in case you get attacked. REWARD: $800 MISSION #14 - FIND AND TAKE THE TROPHY LEGEND SIKA BUCK AND 2 DOES ----------- Refer to the other trophy legend hunt missions. This one is no different, except for the fact that it is a little harder because you must take another 2 does after the trophy sized buck. Bring your basic deer hunting equipment and scan the location for deer. Remember that the trophy legend animals are bigger than usual, so in this case, look for the larger buck with bigger antlers. I usually find all the deer together. Does just love to be around trophy sized bucks, so where you find one of them, the other should be nearby somewhere. Have fun. ITEM UNLOCKED: Javelina call MISSION #15 - TAKE ONE JAVELINA WITH A HANDGUN FROM UNDER 40 YARDS, AND ANOTHER ----------- JAVELINA FROM ANY TYPE OF GROUND BLIND TENT WITH A HANDGUN For this mission, you will need a decent handgun, so shop around and you should find a great one, seriously, it's your choice. And obviously, you will need a ground blind as well. Javelinas are the only Big game animals in this location, so they are clearly marked on the mini-map with a green dot. Stay low to the ground and sneak up to one when you find it. Remember, it must be from under 40 yards so get as close as possible before you shoot it. It's a good idea to bring a handgun scope as well. Now the next one will be a little tougher. I even admit that I was kind of fortunate to have had a Javelina walk past me at the moment I was in the blind. If you have the Javelina call unlocked, then it will be a massive help in this part of the mission because they will always come towards the sound of the call, so you can keep calling them while in the ground blind until they come in a close distance of you. If you don't have the call, then you will need to hang around in a Ground blind nearby a Javelina and hope/wait until he comes to you to shoot him. REWARD: $900 MISSION #16 - TAKE 1 JAVELINA AND AN AXIS BUCK. YOU MUST USE THE RATTLING ----------- ANTLERS TO LURE THE BUCK Not so much difficult now. This is a great mission to do, as it will test both your skills on each animal. Bring a rifle which is ideal for deer (with a scope), a scent cover, a call for one of the animals (your choice) and a tree stand. This will be the absolute best equipment for this hunt. Find the Axis buck somewhere on the map (yellow dots) and track him down, just like you have previously hunted deer. Taking the Javelina will be similar action. Just stalk them quietly and take your shot when in range. Using a tree stand will be a big help, try to spot them for a greater distance. ITEM UNLOCKED: .280 P-A rifle MISSION #17 - KILL 12 BEAVERS WITH A HANDGUN IN UNDER AN HOUR ----------- The hardest part of this mission for me was not getting kicked out of the area. You see, the beaver always seems to run towards the houses, and when I take a shot, I am warned by the warden. Please be aware of this when doing the mission, so constantly check your map and see if there is a building nearby before you plan on taking various shots. And also, use the .500 Magnum handgun for this mission as it will kill the beaver much easier. The other handguns are weaker and take more shots before killing it. You can also bring a handgun scope if you feel it will be easier. One thing you can try is to sneak up on the beavers and zoom in and shoot them, as it is much harder to shoot them while they are running. Although, this will take a lot more time and you only have 1 hour so you're going to have to be quick. REWARD: $1000 MISSION #18 - SET UP A DEER FEEDER AND TAKE DOWN A TROPHY LEGEND BUCK FROM A ----------- TREE STAND BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8am AND 2pm This mission will test just about all of your skills, and believe me, this will be difficult. Before anything, make sure you are between the hours of 8am and 2pm before you shoot anything. Find a good flat area and set up your deer feeder. Once you have it set up, find a tree which is a fair distance away (but close enough for you to get a shot) and sit in it with your tree stand. Now you wait. It is much easier if you bring a grunt call with you, so you can bring the deer closer to you in the first place. Remember that you are only supposed to take a trophy legend buck, so look for the one with bigger antlers. Shooting any other animal will result in you failing the mission so make sure you shoot the correct buck. Bringing a powerful rifle and scope is also helpful and recommended. Also, make sure you have a scent cover so the deer doesn't get spooked by your smell. MISSION #19 - TAKE 2 PRONGHORN ANTELOPES WITH A BOW ----------- The hard thing about hunting pronghorn antelopes is that they jump around a lot when they are frightened. This can be difficult especially when you consider that you are limited to only using a bow. I recommend as usual you bring the more advanced Compound bow. Also, bring along some un-noticeable clothing so they cannot spot you from a distance. Sneaking is always necessary in this hunt, so get into a habit of doing it. Pronghorn like to relax in shady and sometimes closed up areas. This is a perfect opportunity for you to take them by surprise. ITEM UNLOCKED: 16-48 spotting scope MISSION #20 - FIND THE WATERING HOLE OF A COUSES BUCK AND TAKE HIM DOWN WITH A ----------- RIFLE FROM A TRIPOD STAND This kind of mission has been done before already previously, when you hunted the goat at the watering hole. This is pretty much the same technique. Wait at the water source and set up a tree stand somewhere where you will have a clear shot of the buck when he comes. Remember that patience is the key to success in this mission, so be patient! Also, bring your scent cover as well so the deer does not get frightened. I don't know if it will help, but I also bought a deer call on this mission as it allowed me to know where about the buck is. REWARD: $1100 MISSION #21 - TAKE A TROPHY LEGEND RED DEER WITH A BOW FROM A TREE STAND ----------- Another extremely tough mission. In this one, you will need to find any trophy legend deer and take it down with a bow. I usually take all of my animals from tree stands so this wasn't anything new to me, but you still must always make sure you are in the tree stand when you shoot the deer. Bring the basic equipment for deer hunting (like in mission 18) and the compound bow (if you have unlocked it). Look for the bigger deer and only take one down when you are certain it is a trophy legend one. MISSION #22 - TAKE 1 WEASEK, 1 ROOSEVELT ELK AND ONE RED DEER BUCK ALL FROM ----------- UNDER 50 YARDS WITH A MUZZLELOADER You've hunted all these animals before so there is really nothing I can tell you. Just bring your basic deer hunting accessories and possibly some items which are ideal for attracting elks. Once again, you must be careful with the muzzleloader so make sure you are accurate in your shots. REWARD: $1300 *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* CONTESTS *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* The contests are a good way to earn some extra cash and some reputation points. In this section, you will find basic data and a description of every item, yes, every singe one. There are many of them, and each has its own purpose and feature which will make your life that much easier. Plus, it also enhances gameplay a whole lot. Cabela's Outdoor Adventures offers a large range of weapons for you to use while hunting. Each weapon has its own advantages and disadvantages, as I have explained below: [If you have any prices which I am missing, then please send them to me!] o===============================o==============================================o | .22 LR SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE | Price: | o===============================o==============================================o |A very common and popular rifle, this is best used for small game animals. | |Hunting anything else with it is will give you a lot of difficulties as it | |hasn't got much power in it. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .22 - 250 BOLT ACTION RIFLE | Price: | o===============================o==============================================o |Very similar to the previous rifle. This will only be effective when hunting | |small game animals but can also be useful when hunting varmints. One major | |difference is that it is very accurate when shooting from long range. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .243 SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLE | Price: $620 | o===============================o==============================================o |Though it doesn't have as much power, its recoil and ease of handling will | |ensure that your hunting objectives are easily handled. This is very common | |for beginners so I recommend you take this one in your first few hunts. Very | |good for hunting deer and antelope. It is lightweight and easy to run with. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .270 BOLT ACTION RIFLE | Price: $790 | o===============================o==============================================o |Perfect for taking down most game animals, this 'classic' hunters dream is a | |one of a kind rifle with accurate shooting and is very effective when hunting | |medium sized game. Yep, you can't go wrong with this baby. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .280 PUMP ACTION RIFLE | Price: | o===============================o==============================================o |Just a little more powerful than the 270, this is more accurate at long range | |and evenly used for medium sized game. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .30-30 LEVER ACTION RIFLE | Price: $380 | o===============================o==============================================o |This is especially great for hunting white tail deer. Also recommended when | |hunting in thick woods around many trees etc. A quite old rifle indeed. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .30-06 BOLT ACTION RIFLE | Price: $370 | o===============================o==============================================o |Most recommended for big game animals, this powerful rifle requires precise | |shooting from a moderate range. Thought it has its flaws, it can be a very | |useful rifle in some cases. I would really recommend this whenever hunting big| |game animals. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .308 BOLT ACTION RIFLE | Price: $700 | o===============================o==============================================o |The accuracy in this is very useful and can be used at almost any time. It | |also allows you to take quick follow up shots right after another. Be aware | |though that the reaching distance is not that great so it is only effective at| |close to moderate range. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .308 SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE | Price: $520 | o===============================o==============================================o |This all round rifle has great accuracy when being shot by the most | |unexperienced of hunters. Its extreme power brings you the availability of | |taking down almost any big game animal, although it is most recommended for | |medium sized to small game. This is easily one of the best available. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o |7mm MAGNUM SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE| Price: | o===============================o==============================================o |One of the greatest firearms available for long range shooting, this riflemans| |dream is capable of taking down any animal with just a few shots. Another huge| |advantage is the fact that it has quick follow up shooting, so you can take | |numerous shots right after another. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | .338 MAGNUM | Price: $930 | o===============================o==============================================o |This is said to be at the top of the table when it comes to power ranking. | |This beast is specially used for taking down the biggest of the biggest | |animals. Its targeting accuracy and outstanding power is all you need to be a | |successful hunter. This is one rifle you don't want to mess with. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | MUZZLELOADER | Price: $590 | o===============================o==============================================o |Ah, the old classic muzzleloader. Where to start? This extremely powerful | |firearm is able to take down anything which comes in its path. The power is | |just unstoppable and leaves an absolutely devastating result when fired at | |animals, and the accuracy is also another great feature, though it is capable | |of jumping around a lot because of the shaking power when fired. The extremely| |slow reload time is a real letdown. One shot is all it takes for this weapon | |to have to reload all over again, and believe me, it takes a while to do so. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | 12 GAUGE AUTOLOADER SHOTGUN | Price: $830 | o===============================o==============================================o |An ordinary typed shotgun which is best used in large brush areas such as | |forests etc. The range of shooting of it is of moderate rating; all up it can | |reach up to 50 yards. Being one of only 2 shotguns available, it's either this| |or the other. Make your choice. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | 12 GAUGE PUMP SHOTGUN | Price: $350 | o===============================o==============================================o |With a 24 inch barrel, this all power shotgun is capable of reaching fairly | |fair distances, easily taking down any type of animal you use it on. The noise| |it makes is just an example of the power behind it. This also has the | |advantage of being able to be equipped with a scope for even further shots. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o |.357 MAGNUM DOUBLE ACTION REV. | Price: $540 | o===============================o==============================================o |This small handgun has only one memorable advantage, and that is the great | |aiming accuracy in it. Other than that, you shouldn't expect much from such a | |small and weak designed handgun. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o |.500 MAGNUM PISTOL | Price: $1000 | o===============================o==============================================o |Now this is totally different than your regular handgun. The awesome power in | |this makes it more than specified when hunting for just about any animal | |(especially big game). However, it cannot be equipped with a scope so aiming | |will be slightly effected. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | RECURVE BOW | Price: $250 | o===============================o==============================================o |This is again only one of 2 available weapons of its type, which are bows. | |This basic bow is quite poor in power and accuracy, especially since it has no| |crosshair for free hand aiming. You will need to get used to using one of | |these, at least until you have the better type unlocked. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | COMPOUND BOW | Price: $450 | o===============================o==============================================o |Now another bow, but this time with way more power and accuracy available. | |This once actually has a small circle aimer which allows you to easily free | |hand aim an animal at close range. If lucky, you can even usually take deer | |down in one single shot. This can also be recommended for big game animal | |hunts, a truly great bow indeed. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* SCOPES *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* It is a very good idea to bring scopes on just about every hunt/mission you play. They will allow you to zoom in on an animal from extremely far distances and take a shot anywhere. And better yet, a scope is available for just about every type of weapon. One major thing is that some of them even have X-ray vision. This will allows you to easily spot out any animal behind bushes etc and can be activated by pressing the X button while zooming in with the correct scope. Anyway, here are the scopes: o===============================o==============================================o | FIXED POWER MAG. RIFLESCOPE | Price: $190 | o===============================o==============================================o | This is your basic, but still useful riflescope. It cannot zoom in at all, | | but the magnification is set at a 4x zoom distance so you can see the animals| | from a far distance. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | COMPACT SCOPE | Price: $210 | o===============================o==============================================o |Recommended for 'shorter barrelled rifles', this scope is adjustable to any | |distance of zoom you want. An advantage to this one is that it is much lighter| |and can zoom in much more. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | RANGEFINDING SCOPE | Price: | o===============================o==============================================o |This fine scope estimates the approximate distance of your target. Whenever | |you zoom in, you can use the range circles to determine how far the animal is.| o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | PREMIUM RIFLESCOPE | Price: $360 | o===============================o==============================================o |By far one of the most powerful scopes, this adjustable magnifier can zoom in | |on extreme distances to allow you to spot out any animal from many yards out. | |When hunting for animals which require stealth and long range shots, nothing | |is better than this one. Be aware though that when shooting animals from | |close distances or while they are running, this may make it extremely | |difficult with the high magnification. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | SHOTGUN SCOPE | Price: $200 | o===============================o==============================================o |This can only be equipped with the 12 Gauge Pump Shotguns, and when so, it | |will allow you to accurately spot out animals from a maximum of around | |75 yards away. Though you do not have much zooming power, it is still much | |easier to shoot as it aims with a diamond shape aimer which will allow you to | |easily take accurate and quick shots. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | HANDGUN SCOPE | Price: $300 | o===============================o==============================================o |Here is a basic scope for any type of handgun. It is designed for quick | |shooting action and will help very much when hunting for small game animals. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* CLOTHING *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Choosing the right outfit is essential. It should match the current season/weather you are hunting in. For winter seasons, choose the winter clothing, for summer seasons choose the lighter clothing and so on. Be aware that the type of clothing you have on will affect your running ability. Since they are all the same thing, there is no description for them, just the prices. LIGHT FOREST Price: $250 LIGHT ORANGE Price: $270 MEDIUM FOREST Price: $340 MEDIUM ORANGE Price: $360 HEAVY FOREST Price: $420 HEAVY ORANGE Price: $440 FULL FOREST CAMO Price: $400 FULL CAMO ORANGE Price: $370 HEAVY WINTER Price: $480 *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* ACCESSORIES *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Accessories are another very essential part of hunting. In fact, nothing could be possible without them. These include all the items you will need while hunting in the great outdoors. Some of them make the game a whole lot more realistic, and of course much easier: o===============================o==============================================o | MAP | Price: $20 | o===============================o==============================================o |A fairly cheap but useful map. It will give you a brief picture of the | |location you are currently in. It also has markings of fishing areas, local | |cabins and watering holes. Your current position is represented by the green | |person icon. I recommend this on each mission you are unfamiliar with. It will| |be a big help and will allow you to find your way around. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | GPS ECONOMY | Price: | o===============================o==============================================o |This navigation device is similar to a map, but less detailed. The only | |different feature is that this will allow you to enter a set number of markers| |when taking steps. It’s kind of confusing but you should get used to it. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | BLADDER $ FOOD | Price: $12 & $10 | o===============================o============================================== |Bladder and food are separate items which you must purchase. The bladder is a | |good way to stay hydrated and energetic during hunts, and will come in vital | |when you are injured. | |The food is similar. It will increase your energy slightly while in the | |wilderness. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | MEDICAL KIT | Price: $140 | o===============================o==============================================o |A very essential medical pack which heals your health slightly when damaged. | |You can carry up to 4 of these at once. You should bring this on long levels where you think finding deer may be | |difficult for you, especially when hunting for them in large forest areas. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | SPINNING COMBO $ FLY COMBO | Price: $100 | o===============================o==============================================o |These reliable fishing rods can be taken on any hunt and will allow you to | |catch just about any type of fish in any type of water source you find yourself |at. Whatever you use, you shouldn’t have any problems catching | |anything. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | TREE STAND | Price: $140 | o===============================o==============================================o |This will come in more than vital on almost any hunt or mission. Simply face a| |tree and select this item from your inventory, this should automatically set | |the stand up on the tree with you in it. When up in a tree, animals are much | |less likely to see you. This is perfect for hiding while luring deers. It also| |allows you to get a clean shot from up high on them. Be aware that the animal | |will not see you and it will walk by you freely, but once it gets to close | |then it will eventually spot you and run away so don't stall in taking your | |shot. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | TRIPOD STAND | Price: $300 | o===============================o==============================================o |Pretty much the same as the tree stand except for the fact that you can place | |it anywhere on flat ground. It also tends to put you a little higher so this | |is a good advantage. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | SNOWSHOES | Price: $130 | o===============================o==============================================o |These large shoes enable you to easily walk and run through snow much quicker | |without trouble. Using this | | in bushy areas will not help you much, it is best suited in open areas. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | LASER RANGEFINDER | Price: $250 | o===============================o==============================================o |This should be used prior to taking long range shots. This laser beamed | |device can calculate the distance between you and the target. It also offers | |somewhat high magnification for zooming. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | LIGHT, MEDIUM AND HEAVY TENTS | Price: $80, $250 & $570 | o-------------------------------o----------------------------------------------o |Tents are another good way of passing time and gaining energy. They are all | |different in endurance, price and especially weight, hence some are more | |expensive. You can only use them on flat terrain areas. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | HUNTING BLINDS | Price: $300 | o===============================o==============================================o | These un-noticeable tents allow you to hide from animals. This is also | |perfect while luring animals as they will not be frightened by the tent and | |walk near it without fear. The 4 small windows on each side allow you to look | |through and take a shot when the animal is in range. Take the Winter blind | |when hunting in snow seasons, take the forest blind when hunting in bushy and | |forested areas and use the Ground blind when hunting in normal conditions. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | DOE ESTRUS SCENT | Price: $8 | o===============================o==============================================o | This smell attracts bucks from the 'rut' to the 'pre rut' period. It is ideal| | for attracting any types of bucks. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | SCENT COVER | Price: $30 | o===============================o==============================================o |This spray is used to hide your smell from other aware animals. If you | |approach them too closely without having sprayed on the scent cover, they will| |immediately sense you and run away. This is highly recommended when hunting | |any animals which are likely to run from you. You should use it as soon as you| |start each mission. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | SPECIAL BLEND | Price: | o===============================o==============================================o |This scent will allow you to blend in with your hunting environment and | |animals, allowing you to easily track down animals without scaring them off. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | MULE & WHITETAIL BUCK LURE | Price: $20 | o===============================o==============================================o |This strong spray scent effectively attracts Mule and White tail bucks. This block of minerals is a | |dream come true for bucks and they will be drawn to it as soon as they smell | |it. They just love this stuff and will do anything to get it. This is ideal | |for attracting large trophy sized bucks. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | RATTLING ANTLERS | Price: $20 | o===============================o==============================================o |These 2 artificial horns while produce the sound of 2 bucks colliding. Other | |bucks are always up for a fight and will always respond to this sound. Great | |way for attracting any bucks. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | GRUNT CALL | Price: $13 | o===============================o==============================================o |This is the best of all the calls in the game. It is long, loud and very | |realistic as it intimidates the sound of bucks and does. This can be used on | |any hunt when hunting for any type of deer. I recommend this on all missions | |of this type. If you use it close to a deer, you are bound to hear a reply call |from them. At this point, they are as good as yours. Keep making the call and | |wait for a reply for them and wait until they get into range. There is also a | |rubber grunt call, which is somewhat similar to this. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o o===============================o==============================================o | BLEAT CALL | Price: $15 | o===============================o==============================================o |Also good for attracting bucks only. A good way of knowing if they are | |nearby is by listening out for their cries. If you hear them somewhere nearby,| |then set this up and hide somewhere. They are certain to come to be attracted | |by it. They are just that realistic. | o------------------------------------------------------------------------------o ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 7) ANIMALS | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' Animals are your main target throughout the game. Mostly, you will be hunting deer but situations do occur where you are required to hunt other animals. Please note that you may not have your chance to hunt ALL these animals. Also notice that I have not described every single animal, but rather the category it falls under. Hunting animals requires tags. These are basically paid permission tickets which allow you to hunt certain animals. Tags for the appropriate animals will be bought automatically before you enter a hunt so you don't need to worry about such. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* DEER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Deer are very common animals, especially throughout this game. Since there are so many of them, finding them shouldn't turn out to be too difficult. Your real challenge is actually taking them down. This is difficult because you need to get fairly close to them to make sure you have a clean shot. Be aware that at any sense or sight of danger, they will immediately run away. With that, they are always desperate for friends so luring them with decoys and calls is very effective and is bound to pay off. Anyway, these are all the types of deer you will be able to hunt: -Axis deer- -Columbian Black Tail deer- -Couses deer- -Desert Mule deer- -Fallow deer- -Red deer- -Rocky Mountain Mule deer- -Sika deer- -Sitka deer- *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* BIG GAME *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Big game animals are arguably one of the most dangerous animals to hunt. Even those which are not likely to attack are difficult to take down because of their size and power. I guess an advantage is that most of them are very large so shooting them doesn't require much accuracy. Here is a list of all the big game animals: -Black bear- -Brown bear- -Desert Bighorn sheep- -Eastern Timber wolf- -Javelina- -Mountain goat- -North-western moose- -Pronghorn antelope- -Rocky Mountain elk- -Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep- -Roosevelt elk- *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* SMALL GAME *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Small game animals are just as the name states, small. Some of them may attack, but most of them are those which hang around the forests relaxing. They will get scared and run away if they see or hear you, but there is no sneaking necessary as they are extremely slow animals which can't run very fast at all. The most difficult objective when hunting these animals is that extreme accuracy is needed as they are very small. Here they are: -Bobcat- -Beaver- -Cottontail rabbit- -Coyote- -Jackrabbit- -Grey squirrel- -Lynx- -Raccoon- -Skunk- -Weasel- *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* FISH *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Fish are also common. Just about every location has a pond which is the home of dozens of fish. Each one is different though. Some can be harder to catch than others, and most notably, some provide more nutrition than others when eaten. Here is a list of all the fish types in the game: -Artic grayling- -Brown trout- -Crappie- -Largemouth bass- -Smallmouth bass- -Northern pike- -Rainbow trout- -Silver salmon- -Muskie- -Walleye- -Striped bass- ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | 8) HIGH SCORES | '---------------------------------------------------------------------------' These are some of my high scores, and some taken from Netsfer8's guides. (He is a real great player by the way, most of these scores are from him. Thanks again to him for letting me use them!) If you can beat any of these scores, then consider yourself truly great hunter.
