How do I improve it? A: There are a few things you can do. Try decreasing some of the in game graphics settings. Defragment your hard drive, and download the latest drivers for your PC components. BOS:BS runs like crap on ATI and Intel chipsets for some reason... so take this into consideration. UPDATE: The 1.3 patch for BOS:BS supposedly adds stability for ATI 6.4 catalyst drivers. I don't know if this patch works as advertised though, so I would appreciate it if someone with an ATI card could test this out, then email me the results. Q: I want to upgrade my PC. What should I upgrade? A: A graphics card upgrade will give you the biggest performance increase. Upgrading your processor will give you a smaller performance increase, and upgrading your RAM will give you a slight performance increase. Upgrading RAM past 1-2 GB however will not increase your frame rate at all. Do your research before upgrading! If you are new to computers, consider paying someone to build your new computer or install parts for you. Just don't buy a factory pre built PC from a company like Dell, HP, Compaq, etc. Q: How do I get Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering into BOS:BS? A: You can get AA and AF into your game by forcing them in your graphics card driver control panel. These features will reduce jagged lines and will improve distant texture quality, but they will also drop your frame rate. Most modern GPUs don't take a very big performance hit from AA or AF though. Q: Why does it take a long time for the menu to load when I select Campaign from the main menu? A: You probably have too many game saves. Go to the folder: C:\Program Files\Klyotonn Entertainment\Bet on Soldier\Mods\BOS\Saves Delete some of the files in there, or move them to a different folder. Q: Why does my game lag badly when playing online multiplayer? A: Both official BOS:BS servers are located in France. So, if you live too far away from there, then you will get lag. Also, before playing online, disable any mods/cheats that you may have. Playing with mods online will lag your game badly. Q: My game is unplayable! There are so many bugs, and it is very slow! A: You probably didn't install the patches. Search google for the 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 patches for Bet on Soldier: Blood Sport. Download and install all three of them. Q: Are there any online English communities about BOS:BS? A: None that I know of. I would appreciate it if someone sent me a link to one. Q: Should I buy this game? A: Try playing the demo first. You should buy this game if you have a mid- range AMD/Nvidia machine, and you are a fan of the FPS genre. Q: Does this game have Multiplayer? A: Yes it does. However, there isn't much competition, since very few people are playing at any given moment. Q: How much does this game cost? A: BOS:BS is sadly in the bargain bin now, so you could probably pick it up for $10 - $20 new. BOS:BS has gone for less than $5 at Ebay too. Q: How well are you running the game, Mike? What are your specs? A: I am using a 7800GTX, AMD 4000, 2 GB RAM machine. With 4xAA, 16xAF, all in-game settings on High, and the resolution set at 1280x960, my frame rate is on average about 50 FPS. The game runs great, as long as you have an Nvidia machine. Having an AMD processor helps for all games, not just this one. ****************************************************************************** * * * GAMEPLAY FAQ * * * ****************************************************************************** [GPFQ] Q: How do I kill magnetic shield enemies? A: Read the section about special enemies [SPEN]. There are many types of magnetic shields, each one can be killed differently. Q: What's the best weapon? A: In my opinion, the Almaz Snaypersakya sniper rifle is the best weapon for long range, and the Dead-Time-Pro war shotgun is the best for close range. Q: What are the worst weapon? A: In my opinion, the flamethrower is the worst weapon. Which one? They both suck. Q: How do I earn extra money? A: There is a whole topic in the "During Gameplay" Gameplay Mechanics section devoted to this question. Use this CTRL + F shortcut: [DRGP]. Q: I suck at this game! How can I cheat? A: Read the Modding section for the answer to that. Use the CTRL + F shortcut [HTMD]. Q: Should I buy a non-engineer mercenary? A: No. Mercenaries almost never get kills, and when they do, you get only get 1/2 the money for it. I wish there was some way to make them better, but I have yet to find a way of doing that. Seriously, these guys probably only get 3-4 kills per mission... and they die after about 5 minutes. ****************************************************************************** * * * STAND-ALONE EXPANSION FAQ * * * ****************************************************************************** [SAEF] Q: What is the name of the expansion? A: It is called "Bet on Soldier: Blood of Sahara". Q: What do you mean by "Stand-Alone"? A: This means that you do not need to own the original BOS to play the expansion. This is kind of annoying, because it takes up 4GB of disk space. Q: Where can you buy the game? A: Only in Germany and France at the moment I believe. I bought my copy off of Ebay for what I think was an inflated price. Q: When and where does the story of game take place? A: The expansion a prequel to the original game. It tells the story of Max Balding. The single player missions take place in the Sahara desert, as well as some middle eastern style areas. Q: What are the new features in the expansion? A: - Five campaign maps (in two missions). - Two multiplayer maps. - Team Deathmatch multiplayer mode. - New weapon: Nixen. - Two cut scenes about the history of Max Balding. - Five new champions. - New lighting effect, as well as new Ageia physics and particle effects. Q: What is the new weapon like? A: The Nixen is basically an assault rifle with a shotgun attachment instead of a grenade launcher attachment. Of course, the Nixen has a new skin. It looks very similar to the French FAMAS assault rifle... mabey that is where they stole the design. Q: How good is the overall quality of the expansion? A: In my opinion, this expansion is really bad. The single player component is very short, and the multiplayer component is non-existant because no one is playing multiplayer. This expansion is quite unpolished and buggy too. Some advertised features (on their offical French forum) are non-exsistant. On the good side though, the graphics look slightly better. Q: Does the expansion have StarForce copy protection? A: Yes, but don't believe of the rumors surrounding StarForce. Those rumors are just angry pirates ranting. Copy protection software should never affect your choice to buy or not to buy a product. Video game companies should never be looked down upon for protecting what they rightfully own. Q: Will you be writing a guide for the expansion? A: No. Q: What about the 1.3 patch that was supposed to come out with this expansion? A: The expansion comes pre-patched to version 1.3. The core game users need to download the 1.3 patch off of the Internet somewhere. Search google for it. Q: What are the features of the new 1.3 patch? A: - Updates all 1.2 versions of the core game (CD/DVD). - New Ageia PhysX particle effects. - 1920 x 1200 resolution enabled. - Team Deathmatch mode enabled in MP. - Adds compatibility for the latest versions of DirectX 9.0c and Ageia PhysX drivers for better performance. - Adds stability for the ATI Catalyst 6.4 drivers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============================================================================== S E C T I O N T W O G A M E P L A Y M E C H A N I C S ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ****************************************************************************** * * * PRE-GAMEPLAY * * * ****************************************************************************** [PRGP] ========= NEW GAME - - - - - To start a new single player game, first click Campaign on the main menu. Now click new game. You have a choice of 3 difficulties: Recruit, Mercenary, and Champion. If you are new to the FPS genre, select Recruit. If you are an experienced FPS player, or an experienced gamer in general, select Mercenary. Only the best of the best FPS players should select Champion on their first play through. Recruit: - Enemies do 50% damage. - You earn extra money from completing missions. Mercenary: - Enemies do 80% damage. Champion: - Enemies do full damage. ========= WORLD MAP - - - - - You will always view the World Map after completing a level. From here, you can choose to play any mission available to you at the time. At first, you only have one choice. But as you progress through the game, you will have more choices, so you can play any level availible in any order you want. To select a mission, click it's icon on the map. You cannot replay missions that you have already beaten. After clicking a mission, a small box will appear giving you information about the mission such as diffifulty level, reward for completing the mission, and a small picture of the terrain that you will be fighting on. Remember, if you select the hardest mission first, you will have early access to the best equipment, if you can afford it! Click Launch Mission to play the selected mission. =================== BET ON SOLDIER MENU - - - - - - - - - - After selecting a level to play, you will have a choice of three menus. The first one is the Bet On Soldier (BOS) menu. Here, you have to pick one BOS Champion to fight from each category. There are a maximum of 4 categories that you have to pick a Champion from, and this number is based on what mission you are playing. The amount of money you earn for killing each Champion is based on how good they are (better = more money). Clicking on a Champion will show you information about how good their armor is, what weapon they use, what special armor effect they have, and some background information about the enemy. Only pick a Champion that you think you will be able to defeat! You really don't want to get too confident about your own abilities here. ============= WEAPONS MENU - - - - - - - Here, you can buy the weapons and armor that you want to use. You can select one weapon from each category: - 1 melee weapon - 1 side arm - 1 rifle - 1 heavy weapon You can also select grenades: - 3 explosive grenades - 3 gas grenades You can also select your shield and armor here. If you select a shield, then you can't have a heavy weapon. If you want to reset your arsenal to the way it was before you entered the menu, just click "Reset Arsenal". Not every weapon will be available to you. Most weapons only appear in later levels. See the weapons section of this guide to see more information about the weapons. ================= MERCENARIES MENU - - - - - - - - - The Mercenary menu allows you to hire up to two Mercenaries for the mission. Mercenaries will follow you around for the mission, killing enemies for you, and repairing your armor (if they are engineers). The cost of each Mercenary is based on how good their armor is, and how good their repair level is, if they can repair. Sometimes, you can only select one Merc for the mission, because one is selected for you. In the Convoy mission, you can't have any Mercs. There are 4 kinds of Mercs: - Engineers: They have weak armor, weak attack power, but they can repair. Keep them away from the action. Go to them if you need repairs. These guys don't suck. - Protectors: They have medium attack power, and strong armor. These guys suck. - Troopers: They have strong attack power, and medium-strong armor. These guys suck, hard. - Snipers: They have very strong attack power (with very good range), but they have weak armor. These guys suck, very hard. Remember, your Mercenaries will be fully healed and repaired after each load screen. So if one of your Mercenaries is badly damaged, keep him far away from the action, and when you go to the next loading screen, he will be healed and repaired. You can give your Mercenaries simple orders during the mission. Press F1 or F2 to make your Mercenary stop, or follow you. F1 commands your first Mercenary, F2 commands your second Mercenary. If your Mercenary is an engineer, press F3 or F4, and he will come to you to repair you. Any enemies that Mercenaries kill will only give you 1/2 of the money that you would normally get for killing the enemy. Mercenaries that were pre-selected for you are vital to the mission (most often). If they die before they fulfill their duties, you fail the mission and you have to reload from your last save point. ****************************************************************************** * * * DURING GAMEPLAY * * * ****************************************************************************** [DRGP] ============================= YOUR ARMOR / HEALTH INDICATOR - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Your armor and health indicators are in the bottom left corner of the screen. These indicators are in the shape of a human. The blue background shows your health, and the green armor pieces show your armor status. As you take damage, your green armor indicator will slowly change colors. It will start off as green, then it will turn yellow, then it will turn red, then it will turn black. If one of your pieces of armor turns completely black, then it is destroyed. You will need to get it fixed by an engineer, or a reload station. Let’s say your chest plate was completely black. If you are shot in the chest again, you lose health. The blue health indicator will go down. If there is no more blue left in the health indicator, then you die, and you must reload the game from your last save point. Obviously, you should repair your armor before you start to take health damage. Passing a loading screen will refill your health, and there is no other way to heal yourself. Enemies have armor indicators too. Enemy armor indicators will show up when you put your mouse over an enemy. The enemy's health will not be shown. Remember, the helmet is the weakest point in the armor, so always shoot at the head. This will earn you extra money ($10 head shot bonus), and it will kill the enemy faster. It also builds up your self esteem. =============== AMMO INDICATOR - - - - - - - - Your ammo indicator is located in the bottom right corner of the screen. There are usually two numbers on your ammo indicator. The big number is the number of bullets in your clip. If this number reaches 0, then you have to reload your weapon before you can start firing again. The small number here tells you how many clips you have left. There is no clip merging in BOS:BS, so if you reload when there are still bullets in your gun, you will lose all of those bullets. There is sometimes a third number in the middle of your ammo indicator. This is the number of secondary fire bullets you still have left in your clip. Each time you reload your weapon, this ammo is replenished. If you don't use the secondary ammo left in your clip and you reload your weapon, it goes to waste. Try to make the most of your clips to save money. But, you need to balance efficiency with not getting killed. You shouldn't go into a fight with only 5 bullets left in your clip. And besides, if you are reloading in the middle of a fight, you will damage your armor, so you will have to spend extra money to get it repaired. ========= MINI MAP - - - - - The mini map is located in the top left corner of the screen. The mini map shows a bird's eye view of the whole level, and it has some icons placed on it. These icons indicate things you can do at the location the icon is at. Green Circle: Where one of your Mercenaries are located. Red "R" Circle: Where a reload station is located. Orange "S" Circle: Where a save station is located. Yellow Circle: Where your current objective is located. Go here. =============== RELOAD STATIONS - - - - - - - - Reload stations are where you can buy more ammo, repair your armor, and buy more grenades. To use one of these stations, walk up to it, then press E. You can use the W,A,S, and D keys to quickly refill your grenades, ammo, armor, and everything respectively. Or you can just click, with the mouse, what you want to buy/repair on the reload station menu. Always try to hang out near a reload station, so it will be harder to kill you. ============= SAVE STATIONS - - - - - - - Here, you can save your game. If you die, you will have to load from one of these stations, or the free save you get for passing a loading screen. You can only use each station once. Of course, saving isn't free. The amount of money you pay to save your game is based on what mission you are playing. L-3 Missions: $400 L-2 Missions: $700 L-1 Missions: $1400 Post-League Missions: $1400 Before you save, always repair your armor and reload your weapons. This makes it so you only have to do this once before you save, and not multiple times after you load the game from there multiple times (if you do). =================== AIMING AND SHOOTING - - - - - - - - - - The size of your target reticule affects the current accuracy of your weapon. The bigger your reticule, the less accurate your weapon currently is. Running, jumping, swinging your mouse around, standing, firing long bursts, and getting shot temporarily reduce your accuracy. Crouching, not moving, and zooming in with your weapon temporarily improve your accuracy. Always try to crouch and stay still before you shoot, so that your shots will be more precise. This saves ammo, and kills the enemy faster. ===================== BET ON SOLDIER FIGHTS - - - - - - - - - - - When exploring the map, completing your objectives, you will randomly get into Bet on Soldier (BOS) fights. You will watch a short cut scene, then the enemy you must fight will be revealed to you. You will always fight enemies you picked in the pre-mission menu. You only have 60 seconds to kill your enemy, or else you don't get any money. The faster you kill your enemy, the more money you will earn. A BOS fight has three outcomes: - You win. You earn money based on the time it took you to win, and the difficulty of the enemy that you selected to fight. - A draw. You didn't kill your enemy in 60 seconds, but you still survived. You don't have to reload the game from your last save point, but you don't earn any money either. You also feel bad because the enemy gets to insult you on live TV... even though they didn't win either. Okay... - You die. You have to reload the game from your last save point. To make this outcome even worse, your enemy will still get to insult you on TV. Here's an interesting fact: you can tell that you are going to get into a BOS fight if you see some cameras with flashing red lights. These cameras will follow your movements. There might not always be red flashing cameras, so don't rely on them! =================== MISSION PROGRESSION - - - - - - - - - - To progress through a mission in BOS:BS, you have to get to the yellow dot(s) on your mini map. You also have to kill as many enemies as possible along the way to earn money. Sometimes you just have to reach the yellow dot to progress. Sometimes you have to complete an action at the yellow dot, like place an explosive. I will always make it very clear what you have to do at the yellow dot on your mini map in this guide. =========== USING COVER - - - - - - Here's a little trick I sometimes use. Find something that you can hide behind that isn't too tall so you can't see over it, and isn't too short so you will be exposed while crouching. Stand behind this object, and shoot the enemy with your sniper rifle. When you are pulling the tab of your rifle to load the next bullet, crouch. Stand back up when you can fire again, then fire a shot, crouch after you shot, and repeat. You will be guaranteed to take little, if any damage, because enemies spot you out and react realistically in BOS:BS. ============= EARNING MONEY - - - - - - - You can earn money by killing enemies, and completing missions. Each mission completion gives you a set amount of bonus money, depending on what difficulty you are playing at. Also, beating BOS Champions earns you money, based on how quickly you kill the Champion. You can spend your money to buy ammo, grenades, armor repairs during your missions at reload stations. You can also use your money to save your game at save stations. Before each mission, you can use left over your money to buy new weapons, grenades, armor, shields, and mercenaries. =================== EARNING EXTRA CASH - - - - - - - - - - There are a few things you can do to earn more money. - Always get head shots. If your killing shot is a head shot, you earn $10 extra for that kill. - Take out enemies using explosive barrels. If you detonate an explosive barrel, and an enemy is caught in the blast and dies, you earn $50 extra for that kill. - Do all of the killing yourself. If a Mercenary kills something for you, you only earn half of the money for that kill. You earn nothing if an enemy dies from one of your other allies. - Take out Exoskeletons by destroying the back of their cockpits (this is called disabling an Exoskeleton). - Use cheap ammo. Guns like machine pistols and sniper rifles have very cheap ammo. Use them to conserve money when buying bullets. Try not to use your heavy weapon too often, because heavy weapon ammo costs a lot of money. - Crouch, don't move, and zoom in. Doing this will make your weapon more accurate, so you won't have to use as many bullets to take out an enemy. - Hire an engineer. Engineers will save you a lot of money in repair costs. One full armor repair will costs just as much as hiring an engineer, but engineers will repair your armor infinitely for free. - Kill BOS Champions fast. The faster you kill a BOS Champion, the more money you earn for that kill. A heavy weapon can come in handy when taking these guys out. - Pick the hardest BOS Champions. Hard BOS Champions earn you the most money. - Make the most of your clips. Don't reload your weapon if you have half of the bullets left in it. That being said, don't run into a fight with only one or two bullets left in your gun either. - Use your engineer to repair your Exoskeleton before you buy ammo for it. This should be done so you don't have to pay the Exoskeleton reload station for something you can get for free using your engineer. - Don't pay for useless weapon upgrades. If the weapon upgrade sounds useless then don't pay for it. - You don't have to use every save station. Just because it is there, doesn't mean you need to use it. If you saved 5 minutes ago, don't bother saving again. Do some more stuff first. Remember, you get one free save after you pass through a load screen. ===================== USING AN EXOSKELETON - - - - - - - - - - - Exoskeletons are the only vehicle that you can drive in this game, which isn't a bad thing, because Exoskeletons are pretty damn cool. To hop into an Exoskeleton, just walk up to it and press your action key, whatever it may be. Of course, the Exoskeleton has to be parked first. You can't get into a moving Exoskeleton. To get out, just press your action key again. Exoskeletons come with weapons most of the time. An Exoskeleton can have two rocket launchers, two miniguns, or one rocket launcher and a minigun. You can fire your first weapon by left clicking, and your second weapon by right clicking. Rocket launchers shoot rockets the moment you press the trigger. Miniguns however have to "warm up" for about 5 seconds before they will start firing. Always keep your minigun barrels spinning by holding down the trigger then releasing the trigger just before you are about to fire a shot. You can also kill enemies by stomping on them with your feet, but this is hard because enemies will run away from you. Be careful not to stomp on your engineers who are repairing your Exoskeleton. To repair and buy more ammo for your Exoskeleton, you have to find an Exo Reload station stuck to the wall. These stations are the same height as the Exo cockpit. Move close to the station, and put your crosshair overtop of it. You will lose money, but your Exoskeleton will be repaired and reloaded. It costs 40 cents per minigun bullet, and $15 per rocket. You can have a maximum of 12 rockets and 200 minigun bullets. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============================================================================== S E C T I O N T H R E E E Q U I P M E N T ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ****************************************************************************** * * * MELEE WEAPONS * * * ****************************************************************************** [MLWP] =================== ABOUT MELEE WEAPONS ------------------- There is only one type of melee weapon in BOS:BS, and that is the Roto-Blade. Melee weapons aren't very useful during ordinary battles, unless you run out of ammo for every other weapon you own. But, they will prove to be invaluable during BOS fights, since they are the only weapon that can pierce every magnetic shield, which most BOS Champions have. Magnetic shields are really the only reason why melee weapons ever get used. =========== ROTO-BLADES - - - - - - 1) Roto-Blade Cost: $0 First Available: Patrol This is the basic melee weapon that every soldier gets for free. 2) Roto-Blade II Cost: $3000 First Available: Hold this Point The Roto-Blade II does 63% more damage than the original Roto-Blade. Buy this weapon as soon as possible, because it will make BOS Champion fights easier. ****************************************************************************** * * * SIDE ARMS * * * ****************************************************************************** [SRWP] =============== ABOUT SIDE ARMS - - - - - - - - There are three kinds of side arms in the game: pistols, machine pistols, and shotguns. Side arms are supposed to be used as backup weapons. If you have to reload your Rifle in the middle of a fight, instead of reloading, pull out your side arm. It takes a lot less time to pull out your side arm than to reload your Rifle. ======= PISTOLS - - - - Pistols are quite damaging and accurate, so they are best used for long range combat. They are also slow firing, they aren't very stable, and they have very small clip sizes. Pistols are basically mini sniper rifles, they are good at long range, but they aren't very good at short range. 1) Snake B Cost: $1000 Mag. Price: $50 (8.33 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The Snake B comes with 6 bullets per clip. 2) Widow B Cost: $1200 Mag. Price: $50 (8.33 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The Widow B has better accuracy than the Snake B, but both weapons have the same stability. 3) Tiptoe B Cost: $1300 Mag. Price: $50 (5.00 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay The Tiptoe B has a 10 bullet clip, instead of 6 bullets which the last two weapons had. 4) Sieriebro 13 Cost: $5000 Mag. Price: $50 (4.16 / Shot) First Available: Convoy The main upgrade for this weapon is that it has fully automatic fire. If you press and hold the right mouse button, you will shoot very fast. This pistol also comes with an upgraded, 12 bullet clip, and the damage per shot is higher than the last three pistols. This is a great upgrade for the pistol. ========= SHOTGUNS - - - - - Shotguns are powerful at close range, but they become weaker the farther away you get from your enemy. They fire quite slowly, too, and they must be reloaded one shell at a time. Shotguns are good at close range, and are useless at long range. Try crouching and zooming in at close range and aiming at the head for best results. 1) Nunc Morere B9 Cost: $1350 Mag Price: $7 (7.00 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The Nunc Morere B9 comes with 7 bullets per clip. 2) Street Imp Cost: $4500 Mag Price: $7 (7.00 / Shot) First Available: Convoy The Street Imp has 2 more bullets per clip than the last shotgun, and the slugs it fires do slightly more damage than the slugs loaded into the Nunc Morere B9. =============== MACHINE PISTOLS - - - - - - - - Machine Pistols are pretty good in all ranges. They have fast rates of fire, great accuracy and stability, and huge clip sizes. The only problem with Machine Pistols are that the damage inflicted per shot is quite low. Like I said, Machine Pistols are good in all ranges, but they are more effective when used in close range. 1) FKG ATA Cost: $2200 Mag. Price: $75 (1.50 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The FKG ATA comes with 50 bullets per clip. 2) FKG Trooper Cost: $3100 Mag. Price: $75 (1.50 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay The FKG Trooper has slightly better stability and accuracy than the FKG ATA. 3) FKG 1978 Cost: $3550 Mag. Price: $75 (1.07 / Shot) First Available: Convoy The FKG 1978 has a 70 bullet clip, which is 20 bullets better than both the FKG ATA and the FKG Trooper. 4) FKG 1978 [2] Cost: $1100 Mag. Price: $75 (0.93 / Shot) First Available: Eradication / Good choice? The stats for this weapon are correct - it does cost less than the previous machine pistols, and it does have the same name as the last machine pistol. This weapon has an 80 bullet clip, which is 10 bullets more than the other FKG Trooper. Unfortunately, it seems that there is no way to fix this price error. =============== WHICH IS BEST? - - - - - - - - Machine pistols are the best side arms, without a doubt. The forth pistol comes close to a machine pistol in terms of goodness, but the ammo for the pistol costs way too much. Machine pistols definitely unbalanced compared to the other side arms. ****************************************************************************** * * * RIFLES * * * ****************************************************************************** [RFWP] ============= ABOUT RIFLES - - - - - - - You will probably be using your rifle the most often in BOS:BS. There are three kinds of rifles: assault Rifles, sniper rifles, and commando rifles. Sniper rifles are the best, in my opinion. =============== ASSAULT RIFLES - - - - - - - - Assault rifles have high rates of fire, average accuracy, average stability, and average clip sizes. I guess the best word I could use to describe the assault rifle is "average". MG-36 assault rifles come with grenade launchers the grenades fired don't fly very far, and they don't have huge splash damage, but they are quite powerful if you get a direct hit with one of them. Assault Rifles are good in both close range, and medium range. 1) Aguila Rojo Cost: $1700 Mag Price: $100 (2.50 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The Aguila Rojo has 40 bullets per clip. 2) Aguila R-24 Cost: $2100 Mag. Price: $100 (2.50 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The Aguila R-24 has slightly better accuracy and stability than the Aguila Rojo. 3) Aguila R-28c Cost: $2400 Mag. Price: $100 (1.66 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay The Aguila R-28c has a 60 bullet clip, which is 20 more bullets per clip than both the Aguila Rojo and the Aguila R-24. 4) MG-36 Adam Cost: $5000 Mag. Price: $200 (4.00 / Shot) First Available: Special Forces As stated earlier, all MG-36 Adam assault rifles come with grenade launchers, so this is the first weapon that you can get that has a grenade launcher. This weapon comes with 3 grenades and 50 bullets per clip, which is 10 bullets less than the Aguila R-28c. The damage increase and grenade launcher upgrade will more than compensate for the clip size downgrade. This weapon, and all other MG-36 brand assault rifles are more damaging than their Aguila competitors. 5) MG-36 Adam Pro Cost: $7500 Mag. Price: $200 (4.00 / Shot, 66.7 / Grenade) First Available: Hold this Point The MG-36 Adam Pro has slightly better accuracy than all assault rifles that you can buy before it. 6) MG-36 Adam DOD Cost: $10000 Mag. Price: $300 (4.00 / Shot, 75 / Grenade) First Available: Eradication / Resistance The MG-36 Adam DOD gets a huge clip size upgrade. It comes with 75 bullets, and 4 grenades per clip. I have no idea how they manage to get that much into the tiny clip that you load this weapon with. =============== COMMANDO RIFLES - - - - - - - - Commando rifles are almost identical to assault rifles, but they have some small differences. Commando rifles have higher rates of fire than assault rifles, and they also have better accuracy and stability. To balance this, they have slightly smaller clip sizes, and the bullets do less damage. Instead of a grenade launcher, these rifles have a "blinding flash". If you point your commando rifle at an enemy in close range, then press your secondary fire button, they will be blinded for a short period of time. The flash recharges every 5 seconds. This can be very useful during BOS Champion fights. Commando Rifles are overall good in both close range, and medium range. 1) Tiger T0 Cost: $3500 Mag. Price: $60 (1.71 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay This weapon comes with 35 bullets per clip, and does not come with a blinding flash. 2) Tiger T1 Cost: $4000 Mag. Price: $60 (1.71 / Shot) First Available: Special Forces The Tiger T1 has better accuracy and stability than the Tiger T0. 3) F-Jane 10 Cost: $8000 Mag. Price: $70 (1.75 / Shot) First Available: Convoy The F-Jane has a blinding flash, and 5 more bullets per clip than the last two commando rifles. This means that the total number of bullets per clip for this gun is 40. This weapon also has slightly more damaging bullets than the last two commando rifles. 4) F-Abby 10 Cost: $1200 Mag. Price: $70 (1.75 / Shot) First Available: Tanks in the City The F-Abby has better accuracy and stability than all other commando rifles before it. Please note that the price for this weapon is off - this is a bug in the game. You can manually correct the price to what it was intended to be ($12000) by following a tutorial in the modding section. 5) F-Rose 10 Cost: $14500 Mag. Price: $70 (1.40 / Shot) First Available: Eradication / Resistance The F-Rose has a 10 bullet clip upgrade (50 bullets total), and a one zoom level sniper scope. The scope doesn't give it any more zoom than the original iron sights did, so scope on this weapon is pretty much just for show. ============= SNIPER RIFLES - - - - - - - Sniper rifles are the ultimate long range weapons. These rifles are very accurate and very powerful, but they have slow rates of fire. They are best used in long range only. Use your side arm or heavy weapon for close range. 1) Berliner 54 Cost: $1400 Mag. Price: $75 (6.25 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The Berliner 54 comes with 12 bullets per clip. It doesn't have a scope, and neither does the next one, but don't let this bother you because iron sights don't give any more zoom than the scopes do. 2) Berliner 56 Cost: $2150 Mag. Price: $75 (4.16 / Shot) First Available: Big Boy The Berliner 56 comes with 18 bullets per clip. 3) Berliner Auge Cost: $3000 Mag. Price: $75 (4.16 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay There are no differences between the Berliner Auge and the Berliner 56 other than a scope that is exclusive to the Auge. Just skip this rifle and buy the Snaypersakya, because both sniper rifles are available in the same level. 4) Snaypersakya Cost: $6800 Mag. Price: $200 (25.00 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay The Snaypersakya rifles are more accurate, and powerful than the Berliner rifles. However, Berliner rifles have bigger clips, and fire faster. I recommend that you upgrade to the Snaypersakya series, despite these small disadvantages. This sniper rifle has an 8 bullet clip. 5) Almaz Snaypersakya Cost: $8500 Mag. Price: $200 (16.67 / Shot) First Available: Hold this Point The Almaz Snaypersakya has 12 bullets per clip, which is a 4 bullet upgrade over the original Snaypersakya. 6) Tchieriep Snaypersakya Cost: $14500 Mag. Price: $300 (25.00 / Shot, 60 / Hallucinogen) First Available: Eradication / Resistance The Tchieriep Snaypersakya has a secondary firing mode that shoots Hallucinogen bullets. Every clip comes with 5 Hallucinogen bullets. These bullets do little damage, but they make the enemy you hit unable to aim properly for a few seconds. These bullets do a little bit of health damage: it takes either 2 head shots or 4 chest shots to kill someone with these bullets. This is a useless upgrade. Don't buy it. =============== WHICH IS BEST? - - - - - - - - 1) Commando rifle VS. Assault rifle - Commando rifles is more suited for longer range fights. The assault rifle is more suited to closer range fights. - The grenade launcher is better against normal enemies in close range. The blinding flash is better against BOS Champions in close range. You have an infinite amount blinding flashes, but a limited number of grenades. - Assault rifle's ammo is cheaper than the commando rifle's ammo. You can also carry a lot more assault rifle ammo than you can commando rifle ammo. You can't kill as many enemies per clip using a commando rifle as you can with an assault rifle. - Assault rifles do more damage per bullet, but the commando rifle has a higher rate of fire. They both kill enemies at about the same speed. - Overall, I think the assault rifle is better than the commando rifle. Try both, and see which one you like the best. 2) Sniper rifle VS. Automatic (assault/commando) rifle - Sniper rifles are suited for long range combat only. Automatic rifles can be used in long range, but they are much less effective. Use automatic rifles in close range only. - You can get more kills per clip using a sniper rifle than you can using an automatic rifle. You can also carry a lot more sniper rifle ammo than you can carry automatic rifle ammo. Sniper rifle ammo is cheaper too. - It is easy to get head shots using a sniper rifle. - In my opinion, I think sniper rifles are better than automatic rifles. But like I said before, don't take my word for it. Try both, and see which one you like better. ****************************************************************************** * * * HEAVY WEAPONS * * * ****************************************************************************** [HVWP] =================== ABOUT HEAVY WEAPONS - - - - - - - - - - Heavy weapons are very powerful, but the ammo cost A LOT of money. Heavy weapons shouldn't be used as your primary weapon, because you will run out of money too quickly. Only use heavy weapons for hard fights, like Exoskeleton fights, and BOS fights. ============= WAR SHOTGUNS - - - - - - - War shotguns are the hugely upgraded versions of the side arm shotguns. They are extremely powerful in close range, but they become weaker over distance. You will be able to kill most enemies in one hit at close range (even shielded ones), and Exoskeletons with 3-4 hits. The problems with war shotguns are that you can only load 5 shells at once, and you have to reload the weapon one shell at a time. 1) Dead-Time-Five Cost: $4500 Mag. Price: $80 (80.00 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay Just because this is the basic war shotgun, that doesn't mean that it sucks. 2) Dead-Time-Pro Cost: $16000 Mag. Price: $95 (95.00 / Shot) First Available: Hold this Point This war shotgun is slightly more damaging than the last one. It also has a secondary firing mode that unloads every shell you have loaded into your cannon at once. Thank you, Mazryonh, from the GameFAQs forums for telling me this! For some reason though, the secondary fire doesn't do as much damage as it should. ================= ROCKET LAUNCHERS - - - - - - - - - Most shooter games have rocket launchers, and BOS:BS is no exception. Rocket launchers do exactly what their name implies: they shoot rockets. Rocket launchers are quite powerful, but they shoot slowly, and they have small clip sizes. Predateur rocket launchers have squealers. If you shoot an enemy with a squealer (right mouse button), then your rockets will become homing. You will know that your rockets are homing if you see a red circle on your target. A blue or green circle means you missed your target with the squealer. You have an infinite amount of squealers, so don't be afraid to fire away! It takes a short time for the squealer to reach it's target, so the circle may not turn red instantly. If you hit an Exoskeleton with a squeeler, you will see a white circle, not a red one. 1) Vivda Kolon Cost: $4500 Mag. Price: $450 (90.00 / Shot) First Available: Big Boy This is the first rocket launcher available to you. It comes with 5 rockets per clip. 2) Vivda KSK Cost: $5800 Mag. Price: $500 (71.42 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay The Vivda KSK has 7 rockets per clip. This makes this weapon much more cost effective than the Vivda Kolon. 3) Predateur K-13 Cost: $12000 Mag. Price: $600 (100.00 / Shot) First Available: Hold this Point The Predateur K-13 has 1 less rocket per clip than the Vivda KSK, but to compensate for this, it can fire Squealers, and the rockets are more damaging. 4) Predateur K-55 Cost: $20000 Mag. Price: $700 (77.77 / Shot) First Available: Tanks in the City Upgrading your Predateur K-13 to a Predateur K-55 will make the cost per rocket cheaper, since this weapon has 9 rockets per clip instead of 6. This rocket launcher isn't very cost effective overall because it costs $8000 more than the last one. ========= MINIGUNS - - - - - Miniguns are basically just upgraded assault/commando rifles. Miniguns have faster rates of fire, and much bigger clip sizes than assault/commando rifles. But, miniguns are much less stable than assault/commando rifles, and the damage per bullet is actually quite weak. There are a few additional disadvantages to the miniguns: they overheat if you shoot for too long, you can't move while shooting, and it takes a few seconds for the barrels to start spinning before you can fire. You can monitor the temperature of your minigun by watching the colors of the barrels: gray is cold, red is cool, orange is warm, yellow is hot. Do-Svidaniya miniguns have coolers, which make the weapons cool off faster, and improve the stability of your minigun while using the cooler. Keep your barrels spining by clicking the mouse very fast. This will make it so that you won't have to wait as long for the barrels to warm up when you really want to start firing. 1) Angel 303 Cost: $2500 Mag. Price: $500 (2.85 / Shot) First Available: Patrol The Angel 303 has 175 bullets per clip. This is quite a bit, considering that it is the first weapon available to you of it's type. 2) Angel 309 Cost: $3800 Mag. Price: $600 (2.40 / Shot) First Available: Cargo Bay The Angel 309 has 250 bullets per clip, which is 75 more than the Angel 309. 3) Do-Svidaniya Cost: $8000 Mag. Price: $750 (3.00 / Shot) First Available: Hold this Point The Do-Svidaniya comes with a cooler. The cooler allows you to cool off your weapon faster, and make your weapon more stable when cooling off your weapon. The Do-Svidaniya bullets are also more damaging than the Angel bullets. 4) Do-Svidaniya GZA Cost: $11000 Mag. Price: $1000 (3.07 / Shot) First Available: Tanks in the City The Do-Svidaniya GZA has 325 bullets per clip, which is 75 more than the last two miniguns have. ============= FLAMETHROWERS - - - - - - - Flamethrowers shoot burning liquid. It takes a long time to kill anyone with a flamethrower because the damage does not register instantly: the damage occurs over time. This makes flamethrowers very weak, and very useless. This is the only heavy weapon that I cannot recommend to you. 1) Envelops Fire Cost: $3000 Mag. Price: $200 First Available: Patrol You need at least one fire grenade to use this weapon. When you go to buy more ammo for it, you need to buy a fire grenade! 2) Envelops II Cost: $9000 Mag. Price: $250 / Acid, $200 / Fire, $150 / Hallucinogen First Available: Hold this Point This flamethrower has three firing modes: the first mode shoots fire, the second shoots hallucinogen, and the third shoots acid. Ignore what I said earlier about this weapon being bugged! Mazryonh (again!) informed me that in order to reload this weapon, you have to have a gas grenade in your inventory corresponding to the type of ammo you want to reload. So, when you go to buy ammo for this weapon, you need to buy GRENADES, not "ammo" for this weapon! Thanks again, Mazryonh! The secondary trigger cycles the firing modes. =============== WHICH IS BEST? - - - - - - - - 1) In terms of range... - Minigun: Any range is good. - Rocket Launcher: Any range is good. - War Shotgun: Close range only. - Flamethrower: Close range only. 2) In terms of kill time... - Minigun: Against Exoskeletons, these things dominate. You can take out an Exoskeleton in seconds with a minigun. Miniguns are great against BOS Champions too. They are also good against normal soldiers, but they aren't as good as a rocket launcher against normal enemies. - Rocket Launcher: These weapons can't kill an Exoskeleton very fast, nor can they take out a BOS Champion quickly. They can, however, kill normal enemies with 1-2 rockets. - War Shotgun: You can kill almost everything in the game with one well placed blast. - Flamethrower: It is IMPOSSIBLE to kill an Exoskeleton using one of these, literally. Everything else will die slowly, and you are bound to take a lot of bullets from enemies that you aren't flaming. 3) In terms of ammo, and price per kill... - Minigun: The minigun wins here, hands down, no questions asked. You could probably get about 20 kills per minigun clip, and you can carry a lot of clips! Not only this, but the cost per bullet is dirt cheap. - Rocket Launcher: Against Exoskeletons, it will be hard to make a profit if using one of these. Against BOS Champions and normal enemies, the cost per kill will be alright. You can get quite a few kills per clip too, since most enemies will die with one rocket. You can also carry many clips, which means many kills before having to visit a reload station. - War Shotgun: You can kill an Exoskeleton or a BOS Champion with about two blasts of one of these, and very quickly too, so you will maximize your gains. Against normal enemies, using a war shotgun isn't a very good idea since the cost per shell is very high. You can only get, at most, 20 kills per full load of ammo, which is bad. - It takes a lot of fire to kill someone, and you can only carry at most 3 spare clips for each kind of gas you are shooting, which means you will be visiting a reload station a lot if you use this weapon. The grenades you need to buy to reload your flamethrower are also very expensive. ****************************************************************************** * * * GRENADES * * * ****************************************************************************** [GRWP] =============== ABOUT GRENADES - - - - - - - - What first person shooter would be complete without grenades? Grenades in BOS:BS are kinda weak, and they are very expensive. I don't recommend that you buy many grenades. It is possible to "cook" grenades before you throw them. That means that you can pull the pin off of a grenade, then hold onto it for a few seconds by holding down the left mouse button, then you can throw it by releasing the left mouse button. The advantage to doing this is that the grenade will explode more quickly. Be sure to throw the grenade after you hear three "beeps, because on the fourth "beep", it will explode. All grenades cost less to reload during the mission than the cost to buy them for the first time. =================== EXPLOSIVE GRENADES - - - - - - - - - - 1) KY13-Moliina (frag grenade) Cost: $750 Reload Cost: $200 First Available: Patrol This grenade has a very small area of effect, and does very little damage. Don't buy this grenade. 2) Cluster B (cluster grenade) Cost: $1900 Reload Cost: $300 First Available: Hold this Point This is a frag grenade on steroids! After exploding, it will split up into about 8 smaller grenades, and each one of them will explode close to where the original grenade blew up. I still can't recommend using this weapon to anybody, because it is far too expensive for what it does. I do not condone the use of steroids. ============= GAS GRENADES - - - - - - - 1) Vulcan W9 (fire grenade) Cost: $800 Reload Cost: $200 First Available: Patrol After exploding, fire grenades release a big cloud of fire that will slowly drain your health. This can be useful against BOS champions who have magnetic shields (LV 1-2), but don't waste them against ordinary enemies because these grenades are very expensive. 2) Dijonnaise 68 (hallucinogen grenade) Cost: $650 Reload Cost: $150 First Available: Big Boy Hallucinogen grenades explode into a big cloud of pink gas, and all enemies caught inside the cloud will not be able to aim properly for a few seconds. You can then shoot at them, and they won't retaliate. 3) Rosicatura 44 (acid grenade) Cost: $1200 Reload Cost: $250 First Available: Cargo Bay If you are caught in the blast of an Acid Grenade, your armor and health will slowly deteriorate. This can be useful against BOS Champions who have LV 1-2 magnetic shields, but don't waste them against ordinary enemies because these grenades are very expensive. These ones are the best gas grenades. ****************************************************************************** * * * ARMOR * * * ****************************************************************************** [ARMR] =========== ABOUT ARMOR - - - - - - There are three different kinds of armors in BOS. Better armors can take more damage, and thus you won't die as quickly. Upgrading your armor is your number one priority. Always buy new armor before you buy new weapons. 1) The Canadian Protection: 100% Other Effects: 1x fire resistance Cost: $3000 First Available: Patrol 2) Protettore o20 Protection: 130% Other Effects: 2.5x fire resistance Cost: $12000 First Available: Cargo Bay 3) R-Solid 5600 Protection: 165% Other Effects: 5x fire resistance, 5x hallucinogen resistance Cost: $25000 First Available: Hold this Point ****************************************************************************** * * * SHIELDS * * * ****************************************************************************** [SHLD] ============= ABOUT SHIELDS - - - - - - - Shields act as a forth piece of armor. If you own a shield and zoom in with your side arm weapon, your shield will be protecting your front. You will walk slow when defending, and it greatly restricts your field of vision when zoomed with your side arm. Another problem with the shield is that you cannot zoom in with your side arm if your shield is destroyed. As if it couldn't get any worse you cannot carry a heavy weapon if you own a shield. This will make BOS fights much harder. To get your engineer to repair your shield, you have to hold it in front of you, then you have to face the engineer who is repairing your armor. Your engineer will not repair your shield unless your shield is facing him. He will also not repair your shield unless your other armor is damaged. 1) L'ecu Protection: 21% [add this number to your armor defence % to find your total] Cost: $3500 First Available: Patrol 2) Turtle R8 Protection: 42% Cost: $10000 First Available: Special Forces ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============================================================================== S E C T I O N F O U R E N E M I E S ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ****************************************************************************** * * * NORMAL ENEMIES * * * ****************************************************************************** [NREN] ===================== ABOUT NORMAL ENEMIES - - - - - - - - - - - You will kill about 2000 of these guys by the time you finish the whole game. 1) Helmet UAN Soldiers Protection: 3% Reward: $40 They usually use side arms. These guys look like they are more ready to ride a bike than they are ready to go to war. 2) Light UAN Soldiers Protection: 8% Reward: $85 They usually use rifles. 3) Heavy UAN Soldiers Protection: 14% Reward: $120 They usually use rifles. 4) Exo UAN Soldiers Protection: 40% Reward: $285 They usually use heavy weapons. These ones are tough... but they don't run very fast. 5) Resistance / Syndicate Soldiers Protection: 16% Reward: $120 They can use rifles, or heavy weapons. 6) Shield Enemies They are the same as the other guys, except they hold shields. Their shields give them an extra 13% protection if they are using a heavy shield, or an extra 6% protection if they are using a light shield. Shielded enemies only use side arms. 7) Paratroopers These enemies fall from the sky with parachutes, so they gently float down to the ground. Kill them before they can touch the ground. You have to lead your shots by a lot, because the bullets in BOS:BS are realistic in the way that they do not have instant travel times. ****************************************************************************** * * * SPECIAL ENEMY ARMORS * * * ****************************************************************************** [SPAR] ========================= ABOUT SPECIAL ENEMY ARMOR - - - - - - - - - - - - - Some enemies have special armors that give them extra protection, or do other things. It is mostly BOS Champions that have these armors, but some normal enemies near the end of the game have them too. These armors have cool flashing effects. No, you can't get any of these armors without cheats. 1) Auto Repair This armor automatically repairs itself by a certain amount per second. Try to only shoot the enemy in one spot, because once a piece of this armor is completely destroyed, it will not repair itself. This armor is also super strong. 2) Auto Heal This armor automatically heals the user's health by a certain amount per second. Obviously, this is useless. Don't fight these guys any differently. 3) Force Push Only a few BOS Champions have this armor. Force Push armor pushes you back away from the Champion, so you will become easy prey for the Champion's long range weapon. Hopefully you brought a sniper rifle with you. 4) Force Pull Only a few BOS Champions have this armor. It basically just does the opposite of Force Push: it pulls you in closer to them, making you an easy kill if they are using a close range weapon. 5) Blue (LV1) Magnetic Shield Some enemies have blue, glowing bubbles around them. This shield protects them from all gunfire. Explosions, gas, and melee attacks will pierce this shield. You can easily overload this shield by shooting it enough times. A minigun or a war shotgun will bring down this shield fast. This shield can go down when the user is reloading his weapon, but it will come back up when he's finished. Not all enemies drop their shields on reload, so don't count on it! 6) Yellow (LV2) Magnetic Shield Some enemies have yellow, glowing bubbles around them. This shield protects them from all gunfire and explosions. Gas and melee attacks will pierce this shield. You can overload this shield by shooting it enough times, but this shield can take more abuse than the Blue Magnetic Shield can. This shield might go down when the user is reloading his weapon, but it will come back up when he's finished. Not all enemies drop their shields on reload, so don't count on it! 7) Red (LV3) Magnetic Shield You will only have to fight enemies with this shield once or twice. This shield makes the user immune to all gunfire, explosions, and gas. Melee attacks will still pierce the shield. Whether or not you can overload this shield varies from user to user. Champion LV3 shields can be overloaded just by shooting them, but the final boss's shield can only be overloaded using lots and lots of explosives. 8) Backpack Battery Some magnetic shield users have the shield batteries exposed on their back. You can permanently disable their shield by shooting this battery with any weapon a few times. The backpack battery will make the magnetic shield a lot more durable. ****************************************************************************** * * * SPECIAL ENEMY WEAPONS * * * ****************************************************************************** [SPWP] =========================== ABOUT SPECIAL ENEMY WEAPONS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Most BOS Champions have modified weapons that have special kinds of effects. Some normal enemies have these weapons too. It is impossible to obtain any weapons with these effects unless you cheat. 1) Hallucinogen Weapons These weapons do normal damage, but when you get shot by them, your view becomes all screwed up, making it impossible to aim properly, or to see where you are going. This is very annoying. This effect wears off after about 5 seconds. The more your armor resists hallucinogen, the faster this effect will wear off. 2) Acid Weapons These weapons do normal damage, plus extra health and armor damage over time for a little while. You will still take the health damage, even if your armor is still in good condition. This effect wears off after about 5 seconds. 3) Fire Weapons These weapons do normal damage, plus extra health damage over time against you for a little while. You still take the health damage, even if your armor is in good condition. This effect wears off after about 5 seconds. The more your armor resists fire, the faster this will wear off. 4) Flash Weapons These weapons do normal damage, and when you are shot by one of them, your whole screen turns white, making it impossible to see. This screen effect is by far the worst one to have applied to you. 5) Stun Weapons These weapons do normal damage, and when you get shot by one of them, you can't move for a little while. You can still shoot and aim perfectly, so blast away even when you have been stunned. 6) Piercing Weapons Piercing weapons are by far the most deadly in the game. Being shot by a piercing weapon will instantly damage your health, as well as your armor. Even if you still have armor in good condition, you will still take health damage. Having no armor and being shot by a piercing weapon will take a large bite off of your health. This weapon makes an odd sound: it sounds like some sort of machine short-circuiting. ****************************************************************************** * * * VEHICLES * * * ****************************************************************************** [VHEN] ============= EXOSKELETONS - - - - - - - Exoskeletons are big, green, and powerful. Stay away from their feet, and their miniguns. Shoot them in the back to kill them faster. You earn $1500 for killing an Exoskeleton by shooting it's front, and $2000 by killing it by shooting it's back. All Exoskeletons have armor ratings of about 1000%. 1) Combat Exoskeleton This Exoskeleton comes with a rocket launcher and a minigun, two rocket launchers, or two miniguns. The rocket launchers are pretty weak, but the miniguns are very deadly. 2) Transport Exoskeleton This Exoskeleton has no weapons. It will not attack you. ===== TANKS - - - Tanks can only be killed by using an Exoskeleton rocket launcher. If you aren't inside an Exoskeleton, then stay the hell away! It takes a variable amount of rockets to take out a tank. Strafe to avoid the tank's shells. You earn $1500 for taking out a tank. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============================================================================== S E C T I O N F I V E W A L K T H R O U G H ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ****************************************************************************** * * * BEFORE READING * * * ****************************************************************************** [BFRD] =========== BACK STORY - - - - - - The game takes place in a universe where World War 2 never ended. The exact year the game is happening is unknown, but it seems to be in the near future. Basically, two fractions of the war, the WRF and the UAN are fighting. At the same time, two other groups are fighting: the Syndicate, and the Resistance. The Syndicate is a group that represents the corporations who sell weapons and supplies to the war fractions. They want the war to continue forever. The Resistance is a group of Terrorists who believe in peace. They want the war to end. There is also a TV show called Bet on Soldier. This TV show organizes matches between the best fighters of the war (they are called Champions), and people place bets on who they think is going to win. You play the role of Nolan Daneworth, a WRF soldier who lost his memory and wants to find where he wife went. To find his wife, he has to work his way up the ranks of the Bet on Soldier TV show, in hopes that he will find and interrogate two guys who he believes are responsible for the kidnapping of his wife. ===================== NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR - - - - - - - - - - - As you are progressing through the levels, you will encounter many, many bad guys. If you every see some bad guys while progressing through the mission, feel free to kill them if you want. Obviously, I can't write down every single bad guy that you have to kill. So, if you see something that you can kill, kill it. You never need my permission to kill enemies that are in your way. You also never need my permission to visit a reload station, or call one of your engineers to come and repair you. I should also add that this walkthrough contains no story spoilers. The word "Exo" and "Exoskeleton" can be used interchangably. Exo is the short form of Exoskeleton, which is a big green walker with dangerous weapons. "Exo" armor is also the best kind of armor that enemies/you can have. Here is how this game's level progression works. You start off as a League 3 soldier. If you beat the single League 3 mission, you progress to League 2. If you beat both League 2 missions, you progress to League 1. If you beat the three League 1 missions initially available to you, you will unlock the Tanks In The City mission. After you beat that mission, you are given a choice. If you choose to "decline" the choice, you are sent to the Good choice? mission. After you beat that, you move on to the Resistance mission. If you "accept" the choice, you are sent straight to the Eradication mission. Beating either the Eradication mission or the Resistance mission wins you the game. Now, without further adue, let us start a new game of BOS:BS! ****************************************************************************** * * * LEAGUE 3: PATROL * * * ****************************************************************************** [PTRL] =============== PATROL BRIEFING - - - - - - - - The objective of this mission is to get some documents from a fallen allied soldier, then return them to a general in another allied camp. You will also learn how to play the game a short training session at the beginning of this mission. You get one free trooper mercenary, but he is not vital to the success of the mission, so you can get him killed if you want. =========== MAP 1 OF 2 - - - - - - Watch the short cut scene. When you get control over your guy, go to the yellow dot on your mini map. It is pretty close by, and it is in front of a reload station. Once you do that, your ally will shoot your armor, and you will be given money to repair it. Use the reload station to repair your armor. Now you are given $800 to go and save. Run to the yellow dot on your mini map, and use the save station. Congratulations, you beat the training mission - you must be a star player! Now go back to the reload station. Listen to him talk, then go to the next yellow dot on your mini map. Watch the short cut scene about the General talking to you about BOS matches. Once you regain control over your guy, go to the next yellow dot. Some guy will tell you that he will open the gate for you. Follow him, then watch the cut scene of two UAN soldiers blasting open the door, then getting killed by a sniper. Go down through that door. #### EASTER EGG #### Before using the save station, for the first time, there should be a captain demonstrating some exercises for his squad on top of a table. Knock him off the table by either destroying the table, or just by pushing him off. You will watch a short cut scene of the captain approaching you, commenting about the weather, then threatening you. You may or may not have found this by yourself, but I just put this here for those that didn't. #### END EASTER EGG #### Once you get outside of the tunnel, work your way through the linear trenches until you get to a bunker. Go through the bunker. Once you are outside, back in the trenches, go straight for a bit, then turn right to drop down into a cave. Go through the linear cave. Once you are outside, progress through the trenches until you get to a metal, allied house. The yellow dot on the mini map should be visible now. When you turn left to go to the yellow dot, look far off into the distance, and you will see two snipers inside a bunker. Kill them. Make your way through the trenches to the yellow dot. Once you get to the documents at the yellow dot (they are just a folder on the ground) and you killed the lone UAN soldier guarding them, more enemies will spawn. Make your way back to the metal house area, then walk up to a black guy with a shield and pistol standing alone. He is outside of the reload station house. Walk up to him, and he will run down a tunnel. Follow him. At the end of the tunnel he will speak, then you will proceed to Map 2. =========== MAP 2 OF 2 - - - - - - Go straight, past the pile of rubble. Keep going straight, and through a door. The door will close behind you. Turn left, and reload your ammo and armor, because a BOS Champion fight is coming up. Continue going straight, then turn around a short wall. Go straight, then turn right into the bunker with a medical symbol painted on the wall. Go inside the bunker, then enter through a door on your left. You will get into your first BOS Champion fight. Before the fight starts, look right, and use the reload station to repair your armor. Reload your weapons before the 10 second countdown is over. Kill your BOS Champion (he is a wimp, because he is your first one). After you win, go through the door next to the reload station. Go left through the bunker with all of the shelves. Use the save station, go up the stairs, then watch the cut scene. Go through the door. You will be in a big, open area near a fortress. Be sure to kill most enemies here by detonating explosive barrels, because there are tons of them here. This will earn you extra cash. Go straight across the bridge. Turn left, then go through the opened shipping container. Go straight then turn left to go over another bridge. Turn right, then walk along the left wall. Cross the third bridge, then enter the fortress where your allies are standing. ****************************************************************************** * * * LEAGUE 2: CARGO BAY * * * ****************************************************************************** [CRBY] =================== CARGO BAY BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - - This level is actually the harder of the two League 2 missions, but you should pick this level first because you will have access to better weapons and armor sooner. The objective of this level is to destroy three giant artillery guns. To do this, you will need to escort an engineer, Chris Halriott, to the guns. He will then blow up the guns after you take out all enemies in the immediate area. You also have to beat Mika Boryenka for reasons related to this game's plot. =========== MAP 1 OF 3 - - - - - - Watch the short intro cut scene. When you regain control, walk along the left wall until you reach some enemies. You must take out every enemy in the area. This is probably the only laggy spot in the whole game since there are so many bad guys here. After you take out about 3/4 of them, an Exoskeleton will emerge from behind large doors in the back canyon wall. Take out the Exo then clean up the rest of the enemies. After you do this, you will watch a short cut scene of a transport Exo walking up a hill, to the area you are in. This is your second BOS fight. Your enemy will get out, and you will watch the "Welcome to BOS!" cut scene again. You can kill him the old fashioned way, or you can try to stomp him with the transport Exo. After you win, don't go through the gates he came from just yet. About 30 meters to the right of the gates, there is a subtle path leading up to an elevated area. Go up there and kill the enemies, so they won't try to flank you later on. Now you can go through the gate into the big, open area. Some enemies will appear far ahead of you, but they are easy prey for your Sniper Rifle. Take out the sniper in the depressed bunker far off to the left. Now, I understand that the temptation to explore this big open area is too great, so go ahead, I give you permission to explore the area around the base of the mountain with the artillery gun on top. Done exploring? Good. Go up the hill to the top of the artillery gun mountain. You have to clear out all enemies there. First start with the enemies in and around the bunker area. Be sure to take out the ones on the second level of the bunker. Now, take the small path up to the artillery gun, and kill the enemies up there. Once you do that, you will watch a cut scene of your engineer running up to the gun controls, and blowing up the artillery gun. After this, you will get into another BOS Champion fight. Kill him. Now, before crossing the bridge to the opposite end of the gorge, take out the 3 snipers on the other side. NOW you can cross the bridge. =========== MAP 2 OF 3 - - - - - - Turn right after you have crossed the bridge. Run all the way to where you can go either left, towards the objective, or right, to your doom (tanks). Go left (obviously), and kill the snipers in a bunker embedded in the side of the canyon. Keep your engineers close, and get ready for another big battle. Kill all the enemies, including the Exo, in the next "base" area that is similar to the one at the beginning of the mission. Clear out the enemies in the building on stilts too. Once you have done that, climb up the ladders of the tall metal structure at the back to the second artillery gun. Kill the enemies up there, and your engineer will follow you up the ladders, and blow up the big green artillery gun. After that, follow the path down the mountain at the back of the destroyed artillery gun. Walk up to the giant double doors in the side of the wall, and they will open. Take one of the parked combat Exos, then exit. Go through the long tunnel to your right until you get to the area with the building on stilts. You now need to back track until you get to the tanks that you saw at the beginning of this map. Along the way, you will have to fight a Combat Exo. Be sure you have at least 10 or so rockets (you can get more at the Exo Reload Stations). Kill the two tanks using your Exo rockets. Before entering the tunnel, have your engineers repair your Exo. Just trust me, okay? =========== MAP 3 OF 3 - - - - - - Watch the cut scene. When you regain control, a Combat Exo will come around the bend in the tunnel. If you didn't repair your Exo before you got here, then you will probably get killed by the Exo. Anyway, continue down the tunnel until you get outside. Once you get close to the end of the tunnel, you will temporarily lose control over Chris, your engineer. So repair your Exo before you get about half way to the end. Once you are outside, you have to kill most of the enemies in the immediate area before you can progress. After they are dead (there’s an Exo too), and Chris starts following you again, go through a busted shipping container on opposite end of the area to the door. Kill all the enemies there, including the third Exo for this map. Now, go into the building on stilts (the one that looks like the one from Map 2). Work your way to the top, then call Chris to you. He will hack two computer terminals, which will open the gate to the stairs of a tall metal structure. Go out of the building on stilts, then go up the stairs of the tall metal structure that leads to the wrecked cargo ship. Once you are up there, Chris will blow up the third artillery turret. Are we done now? Not quite. Remember that you chose to fight three BOS champions, and we have only fought two so far? We have to go inside the ship wreck to fight the third champion. Chris has served his purpose, so you can get him killed now. Go into the ship wreck through the door near the destroyed artillery gun. Work your way through the ship until you get to an orange save station. Save here, because a BOS fight is coming up. Once you walk into the engine room of the ship (the door to it is beside the save station), the fight will begin. This champion's name is Mika Boryenka, and he has a yellow magnetic shield. You can take him out by first overloading his magnetic shield, by shooting him enough times. He has a blinding minigun, so attacking him head on is pretty much suicide. Never stay in his line of sight. Jump over the railings and into the lower area of the engine room to get more cover. This guy is pretty hard to defeat, so good luck with that. After you win (you MUST win this fight), the mission is complete. ****************************************************************************** * * * LEAGUE 2: BIG BOY * * * ****************************************************************************** [BGBY] ================= BIG BOY BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - The UAN forces have obtained an extremely powerful weapon capable of entirely obliterating your forces. This weapon is code named "Big Boy". You have to escort another engineer named Evan Williams to this weapon so he can blow it up using explosives. Obviously, if he dies, the mission is over. =========== MAP 1 OF 3 - - - - - - When you first start this mission, go right. Go around the big, metal house, and into a tunnel. The tunnel will lead into a bomb shelter with a lot of ammunition crates inside. Keep going forward to exit the bunker. After you get back outside, you will find yourself in some more trenches. Now, instead of going straight to the main doors of the fortress (where your yellow dot is located), we are going to take a shortcut. Go through the trench on your right instead. Keep going until you have the option of turning left, and do so. Turn right, and then left when you have the chance. Walk up a small hill that leads out of the trenches. Kill all enemies, then go straight and slightly to the right. You will get into a BOS Champion fight. Deal with him. Turn around, and walk towards a chain-link fence gate with a terminal beside it. Once you get close enough to it, your engineer will hack the terminal, and the gate will open. Once you walk through the gate, you will fall into a cave. Go through the cave, and you will hit a loading screen. =========== MAP 2 OF 3 - - - - - - In the next map, you will find yourself in the cave you ended the last map in. Keep going through the cave until you enter another small, wooden bunker with lots of wooden boxes. Use the door on the other side of the room to get out. Now, turn right. Run through all of the open, chain link fence doors in front of you. You will find yourself outside, at the bottom floor of a military base. There is a catwalk lining the walls above you, on the second floor of the base. We need to get on the catwalk in another area of the base to progress through the mission. Turn left. Run all the way down the long hall. Once you get to the end of this hall, turn right. Run all the way to the end of the next hall. There should be a metal staircase that goes up to the second floor catwalk. Go up this staircase. Run along the metal bridge connected to the stairs to the catwalk on the other base wall. Now, follow the left wall for a bit until you get to a small gap with a yellowish-orange light next to it. Jump over the gap. Now, cross the large, wide bridge to your right to the opposite wall catwalk. Turn left. Make sure the wall is on your right side. After a bit, you will come to a door in the wall, leading to a helipad with a helicopter parked there. Kill all of the enemies at the helipad, then your engineer will come to hack a door. Go inside the door he opens. Follow the small tunnel that curves right. Open the next door that leads outside to a short catwalk. Follow the small catwalk until you get to another door that leads inside. REMEMBER THIS DOOR. Enter this building, and clear out all enemies in it. Once you do this, find a set of metal stairs leading up to a bunch of big computers with red lights. You will watch a cut scene of your engineer running up the stairs, and he will then proceed to hack the computers. This will open two doors. Now we have to backtrack a little to get back to the part with the catwalks lining the long base walls. Unfortunately, we can't go back the way we came. First start by going back to the door I told you to remember about 10 sentences ago. Hopefully you haven't forgotten it. Once you get to the room where that door is, you will lose control over your engineers, and you will watch a cut scene of some soldiers and an Exoskeleton approaching. Kill the soldiers for money, but leave the Exoskeleton alone. Eventually, Evan will call for air support because you are being overwhelmed. After you hear some planes fly by overhead, and rockets will come down from the sky and will blow up the Exoskeleton. Keep killing the soldiers on the ground until you think it's safe to go down there. Now, go to the bottom floor of the building you are in (the staircase is in the same room you are in right now) and exit the building from there. Run straight to where the Exoskeleton and UAN soldiers were coming from. Turn left when you can go straight no further. Now, you have to run all the way down to the door you see at the end of the hall. There are many soldiers on the catwalks above you guarding this door. Once you run through this door, you should be at the place you were at near the beginning of the level. Turn left, and run all the way down the hall to the first metal staircase you ascended to get on top of the catwalks. When you get about 80% of the way down the hall, you will get into your second BOS Champion fight for this mission. Deal with him the way you please. After you beat him, leave the arena you were teleported to fight him, then continue the way you were going. Turn right at the metal stairs. Now, run all the way down to the green door at the end of the next hall. You will hit a loading screen in once you go through this door. =========== MAP 3 OF 3 - - - - - - You will start this map off in a room with no enemies. Go through the door on your left. In this next arena-like room, you have to kill every enemy. If you think you have killed every enemy, but you cannot proceed, check the bottom floor of the area. Enemies like to hang out down there. Once they are all dead, you will have to fight your third BOS Champion for this mission. I'm sure by now you know what to do in this situation. After your Champion is dealt with, Evan will go and hack the door that your BOS Champion entered from. Enter this door after he finishes hacking it. In the next area, turn left. Run straight for a little bit, and make a right turn when you get the chance. In the next area, go up the metal staircase that leads onto a small catwalk that lines the walls of the area. Follow the catwalk into a large, circular shaped building with two floors. Kill every enemy in this room. Run around the top floor of this building until you get to a door with a white fluorescent light above it. Cross the large, metal bridge on the other side of the door. Now, enter the door on the other side of the bridge. The next room you enter contains the Big Boy weapon that you must destroy. Kill the enemies guarding the weapon, the descend to the bottom floor of this room. Once you touch the bottom, you will get into your final BOS Champion fight for this mission. Once he's history, Evan will place 2 charges on the Big Boy weapon. Exit this building using a door on the bottom floor before the charges explode to avoid a most painful death. Run left. Take another left when you can. Run all the way over to where you see some rubble. Climb up the rubble that forms a ramp for you, and stand next to a glowing red flare on the ground. You will hear a helicopter coming, then you will win the mission. ****************************************************************************** * * * LEAGUE 1: HOLD THIS POINT * * * ****************************************************************************** [HTPT] ========================= HOLD THIS POINT BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - - - - - In this mission, the UAN forces have managed to find a way to open a door that will allow them to roll their tanks directly to our main base. Obviously, this is a bad thing, so you are in charge of escorting an engineer, Larry Johanson to the door locking mechanism. He will close the doors, so their tanks can't get through to our base. =========== MAP 1 OF 3 - - - - - - Once you regain control over Nolan, walk forward and let the guy in front of you speak to you. Follow him out of the mineshaft that you are in. Once outside, take out the two Exoskeletons that were hijacked by the enemy paratroopers. After they are dead, proceed to kill off any other enemies in the immediate area. As soon as every enemy soldier is dead, you will start your first BOS Champion fight for this level. Didn't take him too long to show up, eh? Show that fool that it isn't poliet to arrive at a party early! After your BOS Champion has been taught some manners, you will be treated to a nice, short cut scene. Some more UAN paratroopers have entered the battle, and they are shooting at a "portal" (a gate). Now, this can't be a good thing right? So, head over to the yellow dot on your mini map to lend a hand to your fellow soldiers. Climb up the stairs of the "portal", then start shooting at the Exoskeletons and Paratroopers. Don't bring any of your Mercenaries too close to the portal though, or else you will lose control over him for a long time. This is a bug. If you do lose control over one of your Mercenaries because he got too close to the portal, then just push him away from it, then you will regain control over him. Once all enemies are dead (including the ones that land behind you), you will be told that more help is needed at the second portal. Follow your mini map dot over to the next portal. Kill the two soldiers and Exoskeleton there. Then, you will be informed that the enemy is attacking the first portal again. So you are going to have to run all the way over there again to help kill the attackers. Once all enemies at the portal have been eliminated, Larry Johanson will come to the battlefield. He is located in a small bunker at the yellow dot on your mini map. Walk up to him, and he will follow your orders. He will introduce himself to you, then he will proceed to open the second portal so both of you can go through to get to your objectives. Follow him over to a control panel, and he will open the gates using a small console on the wall. Now, follow him over to the second portal. Be sure to not get too far ahead of him. Once you reach the portal gate, follow him again to a hangar in canyon walls. Three heavy armor enemies will come out of the hangar doors. Kill them. Now, follow Larry again. As soon as you approach the hangar doors, they will close in your face. Follow your engineer again into a mining shaft, through the mining shaft, then you will appear outside again, but this time at the battlefield across from portal 1. Now, you have complete control over Larry. Walk out onto the battlefield, and kill all of the enemies. Once you are sure they are all dead, proceed to the yellow dot on your mini map. Once you reach it, more enemies will spawn ahead of you, and behind you, so watch out! After you have dealt with them, continue on to the next yellow dot. You can get to it by walking up the hill that the previous yellow dot was near. Get to the top of the hill that curves 180 degrees to the left, and kill all of the snipers in the buildings that are about 100 meters ahead of you. Continue forward to the yellow dot on your mini map. Keep in mind that after you get about halfway to the yellow dot, you will get into a BOS Champion fight, so repair your armor and save before that. After you kill the Champion, go to the yellow dot that is inside a mining shaft. You will hit a loading screen. =========== MAP 2 OF 3 - - - - - - For now, leave Johanson in the mining shaft that you start this map in. He will be safer there. Go forward to exit the mining shaft. In this next outdoor area, you have to kill every single one of the enemies. There is an Exoskeleton too, so watch out. You can use some of the buildings near the exit to the mining shaft you started in as cover. The building with the reload station is the most important. Watch out for snipers along the canyon walls too. Once they are all dead, move to the left side of the map (left when you are looking out of the mining shaft you started in). There is a slope over there that leads up to the top of a wide cliff. On top of the cliff there is a base up there with a reload station, a helipad, and a metal tower. Kill the enemies up there to secure this important location. Now, move to the edge of the cliff. There should be an Exoskeleton stomping around down there. Destroy it. Also, look at the two tanks. You are going to take those out using an Exoskeleton that you must steal. To get to the Exoskeleton that you must steal, first go back down from the cliff using the hill that you used to get up. Follow the train tracks at the bottom of the hill towards the direction opposite of the mine shaft that they are coming from. Follow the tracks until you get to an orange snow plow. Now look ninety degrees to the right. You will see a trench dividing the lower level of this area in half. Jump into this trench. Turn left, then follow the trench until you have the choice of following the trench left or right. Take the left path, then continue on until you get to a broken, burning tower. Here, your path is blocked. So, you must jump out of the trench, then quickly run over to the trench on your right. On the right side of this trench, there is a place where you can avoid being seen by the tank that is close to you. Anyway, keep following the trench until you get underneath the bridge that the tank is sitting on top of. As you are running to get underneath of the tank, you may get blasted by the splash damage of a tank shell. So, be sure to have your engineer repair your armor before you make a run for underneath of the bridge. Don't worry, he won't get killed, or even shot at by the tank. A ramp leading up out of the trench should now be visible. What you have to do is run up the ramp, keep going forward to the back canyon wall, and up a slope to a higher point of elevation (it is slightly to your right). The slope you have to get to at the back wall is shaded as medium blue on your mini map. You have to get up the ramp before the tank above you can rotate it's cannon to take a shot at you. Before you make a run for it, stand underneath the opposite side of the bridge to where you must go. The tank will rotate it's cannon the opposite way you have to go, which should buy you some more time. When you are ready, go for it. If you get up to the top of the slope alive, you can call your Mercs up to you, and they won't get themselves blown up some how. Anyway, follow the cliff path until you get to a completely new area. There is a large shelter there, with an Exoskeleton stomping around it. Take out the Exoskeleton, and the enemies around the shelter. Now, go inside the shelter and steal an Exoskeleton for yourself. Now that we have an Exoskeleton in our possession, we have to use it to take down the tanks. Exit the shelter with the Exoskeleton, and look right. There is a path leading back to the area we were just at with the two tanks. When you get there, some more enemies will spawn. They have rocket launchers and snipers. Keep that in mind when you take out the first tank on the bridge. After the first tank is gone, go over to the second tank and destroy it. Once that tank is gone, enter the tunnel that it was guarding, and you will hit another loading screen. =========== MAP 3 OF 3 - - - - - - Make your way through the tunnels, killing everything in your way with the Exoskeleton. When you get outside, kill everything out there using your unstoppable Exoskeleton. Go forward with your Exoskeleton, up the slope ahead of you. Once you are half way up the slope, you will watch a cut scene that basically just shows you the tank ahead of you. More enemies will spawn too. Kill the enemies, then kill the tank. If you run out of rockets, there are two Exo Reload stations quite far back in the tunnels on the wall. After the tank is dead, you have to now close some gates using a control panel. Walk past the destroyed tank, and walk to the left along a chain link fence. Eventually, you will find the doorway into a building with some machinery in it. Find a wide ramp leading outside that is connected to this building. It should be near the back. Run up the ramp all the way to the top of a tower. Once at the top, you should have a good view of the whole area. You should also be able to see a dual minigun Exoskeleton. Take it out using any long range weaponry that you have. Now descend a ladder connected to the high tower that you are on. Once you jump off of the ladder, you will see a short cut scene of the BOS Champion that you must fight. He can be seen walking out of mine shaft. Anyway, now you must kill all of the enemies in this area. So go ahead! Kill them! There are some sniper paratroopers that just got here. If you are having trouble seeing them, watch closely for their muzzle flash. Oh yeah, I should mention that you will no longer be able to control your engineer until these guys are all dead. After the snipers are dead, descend some stair cases to the ground, and kill the normal enemies with just automatic weapons. After this, you will fight your third BOS Champion, and if you picked the hardest guy, he is going to have a red magnetic shield. Good luck with that. Your only hope is to blind him, and melee him. He has a war shotgun, which will make him even harder. Of course, if you didn't pick him, none of this applies to you. So once he is dead, or if the match ended in a draw, kill off any remaining soldiers. After that, you need to proceed to use the door locking mechanism. To find the locking mechanism, go onto some train tracks, and follow them in the direction to the stairs that lead up to the very tall tower. When the tracks come to a dead end, a big, orange digging machine should be in sight. Walk past the digging machine, then walk up a slope to higher elevated ground. Once on top, walk through a large, blue shipping container. Turn right, and you will see some wooden stairs. Walk up the stairs with your engineer, and open the door to a control room. Walk over to the green console on the other side of the room, and your engineer will hack the console. After that, wait around in your location for about 5 seconds, then you will win the mission. ****************************************************************************** * * * LEAGUE 1: CONVOY * * * ****************************************************************************** [CNVY] =============== CONVOY BRIEFING - - - - - - - - The WRF forces have learned that the UAN are transporting some nuclear warheads to the Alaskan front of the war. I'm sure all of my readers understand the consequences of letting the UAN do this, so there really isn't much more to explain. Your job is to first blow up a communications dish, then you must beat your BOS Champion, then finally you must take out the convoy of Exos that are transporting the nukes. You have to do all of this very quickly, because you have a tight time limit. Good luck this one, you are gonna need it. Oh yeah, you aren't allowed to hire any engineers for this mission. Should have told you earlier, shouldn't I? =========== MAP 1 OF 1 - - - - - - As soon as the cut scene finishes, run straight, and turn the corner left. Quickly rush in, and kill all of the enemies by the door. Run through the door, then turn right and run up the stairs (you are going to be doing a lot of running). Take a left at the top of the stairs. Go through the next door frame to your right, because the one ahead of you is blocked off by a metal filing cabinet. Use the reload station, then turn left. Then go through the only door in the next room, which is on your right. Now, open and go through the metal door that leads outside onto a balcony. Jump off the balcony without shooting at anyone on the ground. Go through a door at ground level that is indicated by a yellow dot on your mini map. Once inside this second building, go through the door frame that leads to some stairs. Go up the stairs. Once at the top, go through the door frame on your left, then go through the next door frame on your left. Now, go through the metal door that leads on to a short bridge outside, that connects two buildings. Run through the door in front of you once outside on the short bridge, so you will be once again inside. Go through this next one path building until you get to yet another metal door that leads onto an outside bridge connecting two buildings. In the next building, use the reload station, then continue to go through the building. When confronted with the choice of going through a metal door that leads outside, or going up some stairs, go up the stairs. When you are at the top of the stairs, walk up to a red, translucent outline of a C4 charge, then press E. You will place a C4 charge there, and it will blow up 5 seconds later. Obviously, before you are caught in the blast, jump over the short railing on your left, and fall onto a short bridge connecting two buildings. Jump off of this bridge so you are at ground level. Objective complete! Once at ground level, go through the door at the dead end of the alley that you are in. Use the save station in the next room, then leave, to go back to the alley. Exit the alley to go to the main combat area. Go over to the yellow dot on your mini map. Kill all of the enemies in the area. There may be some overhead, on a long catwalk connecting two buildings. Once they are all dead, you have to fight your BOS Champion for this level. If you need repairs or ammo, there is an ammo station in the corner of the arena on the first floor of a building, right next to the entrance. Survive your BOS Champion fight. Once that is done, the convoy will arrive. Now, if you want, you can search out a save station near the arena. Once finished saving, you have to attack the convoy. The Exoskeletons you have to disable are located at the yellow dots on your mini map. Run over to them, but don't disable them yet. First, pick off the enemies escorting the Exos. If you get within sight of the convoy fast enough, you will have an easy time picking off the enemies escorting the Exoskeletons because they will be about a mile away from you. Once the enemies are dead, go after the Exoskeletons. Remember, you have to disable the Exoskeletons by shooting at their back cockpit. If you destroy them by shooting their front, legs, arms, etc, you will fail the mission. You can try to disable them by hiding in a building, then emerging and shooting their backs when they walk past. Try to take out the one at the back of the convoy first, because it will make it easier to take out the one in front. Anyway, once both Exoskeletons have been disabled, the mission is complete! ****************************************************************************** * * * LEAGUE 1: SPECIAL FORCES * * * ****************************************************************************** [SPFR] ======================= SPECIAL FORCES BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - - - - The main objective of this mission is to blow up some trucks in a parking garage. Unfortunately, you forgot to bring some stuff to blow the trucks up, so you have to steal some C4 from the enemy. Once you do that, you have to proceed to the parking garage, then blow up the trucks. Please note that sometimes your engineers will be stuck at the beginning of the mission. This is a bug. Once you beat your first BOS Champion for this level, they will become usable again. =========== MAP 1 OF 2 - - - - - - After the level introduction cut scene, you will find yourself in front of a big radio tower. Walk through the smashed fence, and underneath the radio tower. Walk onto the street on your right, and follow the street in the direction until some enemies come around the corner of a building. Go around the corner of the building, then you will get yourself into a huge street fight with about 20 enemies. Take them all out, then walk diagonally to the right and go through the big, metal, open gate that the enemies were walking through. You will get into yet another street fight. When you walk through the open gate, the music should change. Anyway, once you killed them all, walk up a ramp near the end of the street, and through a tunnel with a yellow light. You will be at a different street now. Run left down the street, then go into a warehouse-type building with a green light. Run up every flight of stairs in the warehouse until you get to the top floor. Now, cross over into the warehouse beside it by going through a hole in the wall. Make your way to the bottom of this building, and grab the C4 explosives sitting on a box. Now, to exit this building, just walk up to the two closed doors at the opposite end of the room to the C4 charges. They will open, and you can walk through to the previous street area that you were at. Some enemies have shown up since you were last there, so kill them. As soon as they are all dead, you will fight a BOS Champ. Kill him. Now, walk into a building (the entrance is to the right of a save station). On the right wall of this building, there is a door leading outside. Go through the door, then you will hit a load screen. =========== MAP 2 OF 2 - - - - - - You will start this map in an area outside of the parking garage. Kill all the enemies outside of the garage first, so you will have a safe place to put your engineers. After everyone is dead, including the snipers looking out some windows of garage, walk up to the two closed garage doors. Find a red, see- through outline of a C4 charge, walk up to it, and press E. You will place a C4 charge there, then it will explode about 5 seconds later. Walk into the garage through the doors that you just blasted open. Once inside, kill every enemy. You are going to have to do this eventually, so just get it over with right now so the enemies don't get in the way of your main objective. Once they are all killed, go one of the four dots on your mini map. There is a truck located at each dot. Place a C4 charge on the front of each truck to destroy them. If you killed all of the enemies, you will get into a BOS fight. If you didn't, then you have to kill the rest of the enemies in the garage before you can fight the champion. After you have taken care of the BOS champ, the mission is complete. Wow, that was pretty short, wasn't it? ****************************************************************************** * * * LEAGUE 1: TANKS IN THE CITY * * * ****************************************************************************** [TKIC] =========================== TANKS IN THE CITY BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In this mission, you have to take out three tanks that are in a city that the WRF controls. If you don't do this, then the UAN will take over the city that your war fraction controls. You must first find the tanks, because they are scattered all over the city. Then you must either blow them up with C4, or use an Exoskeleton to take them out. After this, you have to take out a guy named Igor Boreynka for reasons related to the plot. =========== MAP 1 OF 4 - - - - - - Start off by running to the war General you met at the beginning of the game. He is inside a tent at the yellow dot on your mini map. Approach him, then wait for him to finish speaking. Now leave the tent, and walk inside a building where the yellow dot on your mini map is. Grab the C4 charges that are lying on a shelf. Leave the building now, and kill the Paratroopers that are falling out of the sky. Once they are dead, walk down the path on the left side of the large building near the back of the tents. When you are at the back of the building, go right. Then take another right when you get to the other corner of the building. A lone soldier guarding the door to the building will let you enter. Once inside the building, run up the stairs, and through the door at the top of the stairs. Run up another flight of stairs, then outside. Cross the two wooden boards connecting the large building to the smashed building beside it. Go through the door directly in front of you, then you will hit a load screen. =========== MAP 2 OF 4 - - - - - - As soon as you enter this map, leave your engineers at the start location. There are a lot of snipers in this area, so first take them out. There are 3 on the ground, and 3 inside the dilapidated building on your right. Cross the wooden bridge once they are history. In the next building, drop down through the floor to the level below you. Go into the door with the blue light shining out of it. To right, and kill the two snipers on the balcony. Then, head back and go left this time, and down a ramp to the ground floor. You now need to cross the street forward and slightly to the left (facing out of the building), to get to an alley. There is at tank at the other end of the street, so go quickly. Go all the way to the end of the alley, go into the building on your left. Go through the door with the white lamp above it. Two enemies will spawn behind you when you go through the door, so watch out. Anyway, continue up the ramp in the next room, and you will be on the second floor of the building. There are many enemies in this next area, so kill them all. Kill all of the enemies in the square shaped room with a catwalk lining the walls all the way around the room. Once you know they are all dead, jump off of the catwalk of the square shaped room. Get ready for a BOS fight. Once you are down there, approach a door in the corner of the bottom floor of this room (there is a reload station next to it). Just as you are about to go through the door, it will close in your face. Turn back to the square shaped room, then the BOS fight will start. Kill the Champion, then go back to the door that closed in your face. Go through the door, then descend the stairs into the basement/sewers of this building. Go through the sewers (there's only one way to go) until you get to the yellow dot on your mini map. Make sure your engineer is following you, or he will probably get killed by some enemies that spawn behind you. Once at the dot, you should be directly underneath of a UAN tank. Climb up a ladder, and place a C4 charge on the bottom of the tank. It will blow up. Now, back track until you get to an iron bar gate. It now has a C4 charge outline on it. Place a charge there, so you can go through the gate. Go through the destroyed gate, and continue on through the sewers for a bit. You will reach another ladder going up, out of the sewers. Leave your engineers behind when you go up the ladder, because there is an Exoskeleton up there. Kill the Exoskeleton at the ground floor. This should be easy because there is plenty of cover. Exit the ground floor building that you are in by going through one of the holes in the wall. Walk down a stone path connected to the street. There are many bad guys here, so kill them. Enter the smashed building, and go up a ramp to the top floor of it. Now exit the building through a door on your right. You should be in a whole new area. Kill the enemies that are camping the door to the new area. Go up the stairs on your right, then drop down through a hole in the floor. You will hit a loading screen! =========== MAP 3 OF 4 - - - - - - In this area, which consists of a narrow brick path with houses on both sides of it without gaps between the houses, you have to kill all of the enemies. A close range weapon can be very useful here. There are many Exo armored bad guys here, and a few heavy ones. This is going to be a tough battle. Be sure to put your engineer somewhere that is out of the way. When you emerge victorious, run into the building with the reload station. Use it, because a BOS Champion fight is coming up. Now, walk towards the stairs on the opposite end of the room to the door you came in. Walk down the stairs, and approach the metal gates. Your BOS Champion will arrive via parashoot. Don't go right away back to fight the Champion. Turn around, and you will see some Syndicate officers guarding the other side of the metal gate. Hmm... I wonder what they are doing there? Anyway, go back onto the brick path, and kill your champion. Return to the metal gates, and you will find that they are gone, and same with the Syndicate officers. Hmmmmmmm.... Scared yet? You shouldn't be :P The next big, wide open area has 3 exoskeletons stomping around at ground level, and 4 snipers on the rooftops, one sniper for each of the three walls (there are 2 snipers on the wall at the back). There is also a sewer with multiple entrances, which has a lot of enemies roaming around inside. On the street at the back, there is a tank. Anyway, run up the ramp that is a wing of a crashed plane that is in front of you. Shoot the Exoskeletons and snipers using a long range weapon from the second floor of a building connected to the plane wing. When you are sure you killed all of the enemies, jump down to the ground floor. Enter the sewer, and kill all of the enemies down there. Then, go back up to the ground floor. You now must cross the street that the tank is guarding, and enter a building on the other side. This building as some red cameras on the roof that you can faintly see from the ground floor close to the street. There are many enemies in this building, so kill them all. Then, go up some stairs / pieces of wood from the roof to get onto the roof. You should notice the red cameras now, so a BOS Fight is coming up. Approach a gap in the railing of the building, and your fight will start. If you picked the hardest enemy to fight, then you will have to face a red magnetic shield enemy. It is possible to deactivate his shield by shooting it a lot. Once he is dead, go back to the gap in the railing, and drop down to a first floor balcony. Walk along the balcony until you get to a hole in the wall of an Exoskeleton hangar. Kill the three wimps guarding the Exoskeletons, then steal a Combat Exoskeleton. Walk out of the door using the Exoskeleton. Shoot the Tank with seven Exo rockets, and it will explode. After the tank is gone, about 10 exo armored soldiers will spawn. They will probably blow up your Exoskeleton, so jump out and kill them. Then, get back in, and walk all the way down to the tank. Go through a big door, and you will hit a load screen. =========== MAP 4 OF 4 - - - - - - Either repair and reload the Exoskeleton you are using now, or get out, and get back in the fresh one sitting next to you. Now, exit the building you are in, and kill the tank in front of you with your Exo rockets. Once the tank explodes many paratroopers with exo armor and heavy weapons will fall from the sky. Kill them, and proceed down the long street. Get out of your Exo, and use the reload station on your left at the end of the street, then go to the right side of the street, to the yellow dot on the mini map. You will get into a BOS fight. You have to win this fight or else you fail the mission. He will start off on the top of a tanker truck, and to get him off, you can just throw a grenade up there, if you want. After you kill him, you will win the mission. That was your last BOS fight for the game by the way, so it should have been easy. ****************************************************************************** * * * POST-LEAGUE: GOOD CHOICE? * * * ****************************************************************************** [GDCH] ===================== GOOD CHOISE? BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - - - You get to play this level if you chose to decline the offer made by a story character after you beat the Tanks In The City mission. Because you didn't accept his offer, you were sent to the arena, and you have to kill everyone to escape. This map is just a big, circular arena with some buildings lining the edges of it. There are some sewers underneath of the arena, but don't bother going down there. You can't bet on any Champions, and you can't hire any mercenaries. However, you do get to fight with someone who has a powerful rocket launcher. This is ironic because the person you are fighting with is someone you defeated earlier, and now you must fight together to survive. The objective of this mission is to just kill all 8 waves of enemies. You have to do this all at once because there is no save station in this level. You can, however, use one of the ten reload stations scattered around the insides of the buildings at any time. =========== MAP 1 OF 1 - - - - - - This level walkthrough will be done slightly differently, because this mission is different than the rest. As explained earlier, your objectives are to just kill everyone in the arena. It's pointless to write a walkthrough for this, so I'll just tell you what you are up against so you can prepare for it. I'm sure by now you know how to deal with these enemies. If not for whatever reason, check out the Enemies section of this guide [NREN]. Wave 1: Four heavy armored soldiers. Two have shields. Wave 2: Six heavy armored soldiers, and two exo armored soldiers. Wave 3: Six heavy armored paratroopers. Wave 4: Two blue (LV1) magnetic shield enemies. One has a hallucinogen pistol and the other has a minigun. Wave 5: Eight heavy armored snipers. Your mercenary will probably get himself killed here, if not earlier. Wave 6: Two heavy armored soldiers, and two exo armored soldiers. All of them have auto-repair armor. Wave 7: Three champions with auto-repair armor. One has a hallucinogen sniper rifle, one has an acid rocket launcher, and the other has a shotgun. Wave 8: One soldier with a red (LV3) magnetic shield and stun war shotgun. This magnetic shield is NOT indestructible, so shooting it enough times will take it down. ======= ADVICE - - - - Here is my advice for this mission, not that you are going to need it though. The best strategy to win is to buy a sniper rifle, and hang out on the top floor on one of the buildings that has a reload station inside of it. Now, just look out of one of the windows of the building, and snipe anyone you see. If you get shot, use the reload station close by. Be sure to carry a heavy gun with you incase you are attacked from inside the building. Remember, it is possible to deactivate the red magnetic shield by shooting it enough times! ****************************************************************************** * * * POST-LEAGUE: RESISTANCE * * * ****************************************************************************** [RSTC] =================== RESISTANCE BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - - This is the level you have to play after you beat the Good choice? mission. It is very similar to the Eradication mission, the one you play if you Accept the choice made earlier on. The goal of this level is to defend your base from the oncoming attackers. =========== MAP 1 OF 3 - - - - - - After the opening cut scene finishes, exit the building you start in. Run up the big hill in front of you, and go to where a friendly Exoskeleton just got blown up. You will find yourself at the top of a large cliff, overlooking the entire battlefield. There are a lot of enemy soldiers down there, and three Exoskeletons stomping around. Both the Exoskeletons and the soldiers will prove to be very easy targets for a sniper rifle. There is also a tank down there, shooting continuously at the fortifications of your base. Anyway, kill all the enemies down there, then go to the yellow dot on your mini map. Colonel Huber is there. Go close to him, and he will speak about stealing an Exoskeleton and using it to destroy the tank that is blasting away at your base fortifications. Follow him once he stops talking. He will lead you to a narrow cliff path with some metal doors blocking access to it. He will open the doors, and a second soldier will run up the cliff path. Follow him. Once you get to the top of the path, you will have another great view of the battle from the top of another high cliff. A cut scene will play once you get to the top: it will show a close up of the tank blasting your fortifications. Once that's done, run along the cliff path to the left, killing any enemies you see, but NOT the newly arrived Exoskeleton. Once you get all the way to the left down the path, go down a hill connected to the path that goes down to the level of the enemy soldiers. You must now deactivate the Exoskeleton by shooting at the back of it's cockpit. Once you've done that, the soldier that you followed up the cliff path will come and repair the Exoskeleton for you to use. Hop in when he has finished repairing it, then kill the tank using your Exo rockets. I should add that after you take a shot at the tank, some paratroopers will arrive, and they have heavy weapons. Watch out for these guys. After the tank blows up, a cut scene will play of some enemy paratroopers landing inside of your base. Go back up the cliff path, and back to your base. Abandon the Exoskeleton, because you don't need it anymore. When you get back to the base, your objective is to kill all of the enemies there. Actually, you only have to kill the ones surrounding the helipad. After they are dead, go to the helipad. Enter the mine shaft there. The yellow dot you must reach is inside a lift. Just stand inside the lift for a few seconds, then you will hit a loading screen. =========== MAP 2 OF 3 - - - - - - For the first 2 minutes of this map, you just have to follow Colonel Huber around (there are no enemies to kill). He will check to make sure that his men are in place... and you have to be with him every step of the way for some reason. Oh well, at least you'll have a nice break from the action to listen to some mediocre voice acting. Just make sure you save before the fighting starts, or else you will have to do the whole thing over again! After a short cut scene, the action will start. Many enemies will arrive in waves. They will come by parashoot, and through the door that you came out of. There are a lot of them that you must kill, and some of them have heavy weapons and magnetic shields. This is going to be a hard fight. Be sure to fight close to a reload station so you can quickly repair your armor when you need to. Oh, and by the way, Huber must live, or else the mission is over. When you've killed all of the enemies, you have to follow Colonel Huber. He's on the top floor of the area you are at, and he is a green dot on your mini map now. Just approach him, and he will start running. Apparently there is a helipad attack that has to be tended to. Eventually you will meet up with 3 allied soldiers, and you will together with Huber, run to some Helipad. At the Helipad, you have to kill all the enemies. After you kill the first batch, more will arrive via parashoot. When it appears that all enemies have been killed, enter the building at the back of the helipad. There is one enemy at the bottom floor of the building, and two on the top floor. You know when you have killed all of the enemies at the helipad when Colonel Huber tells you that you that you are being flanked. He is correct: some enemies are falling from the sky near the hill leading up to the helipad (with parachutes of course). Take 'em down. Descend the hill leading to the helipad. Approach a closed door in the wall directly in front of the hill (it has a console next to it on the wall). Some more paratroopers will try to flank you. Kill them, then Huber should open the locked door in front of you using the wall control panel. Kill the 5-6 enemies in the next area. Then, walk towards the yellow dot on your mini map (you can't reach it because it is off the map). You should be standing in front of a locked door. Turn around, because some more enemies will attempt to flank you via parashoot. They just don't learn, do they? Teach them a lesson for the third time. Soon after, Huber will go back to the door, and you have to follow him. Stand next to the door for a few seconds, and you will hit the last loading screen in the game. =========== MAP 3 OF 3 - - - - - - Start off by running up some stone steps that are part of a small cliff wall. This cliff should be about 20 meters away from you. Once at the top of the cliff, you should see a large building about 100 meters away from you. There should also be a large field with many broken shacks separating you from the building. You have to kill all of the enemies that are attacking this building. Some more enemies will fall from the sky too. They have yellow magnetic shields. Kill them all. Once you kill enough of them, your objective should be updated. Now you must enter the building. Go all the way to the left of the building, when you are facing it. There should be a narrow passage between the building and a brick wall that leads to an open door in the side of the building. Go through the door, and you will watch a cut scene of some enemies hacking the door, and some allies shooting at the enemies from the other side of the door. Go through the door that is farthest away from you on the right side of the room, and kill the enemies. Now go through the door they opened and greet your allies. Then, go through the door on the opposite end of the room as the door you came through. It has a green light above it. Use the' reload station, then go through the door next to it. In the next room, kill all of the enemies. Then, climb up a ladder to the upper level of the room. Go through the only door that is open: the one on the right side of the room (when facing the front of the room). Go through the next door that is three feet in front of you. In the room with the reload station, go through the door on your right. Go down the stairs on your left in the next room. In the room with the save station, continue through the door to the next room. There should be some allied soldiers standing behind some cover, guarding the room. The will salute you. Yes, in order to continue through this level, those guys HAD to have saluted you. I have no idea why. Anyway, go through the door on the right, then the next door with the green light above it, and you will find yourself in the last room with enemies that you were in. Climb up the ladder again, and go through the door on the LEFT side of the room now. It will be unlocked now. Go through the door with the console next to it directly in front of you once you go through the newly unlocked door. You will find some more enemies in the next, long room. Kill them all, then walk all the way to the other side of the room where there are some stairs leading up to the roof of the building. When you are about half way up the stairs, you will watch a short cut scene of some allied soldiers being attacked by some enemies on an elevated platform on the roof of the building. Once it has finished, continue up the stairs and go right. Kill all of the enemies. Once they are finished, you will watch another short cut scene of your ally saying something, then getting shot in the head right after by an enemy. You will talk to the enemy a bit, who reveals stuff about your past memory loss. You will then get into a fight with him, and four other enemy soldiers. When the fight begins, immediately jump off of the elevated platform that you start on. The guy you must kill has a red magnetic shield with a backpack battery. He also has a piercing minigun. He is very dangerous. Take note that you can use the whole level to kill this guy - you aren't limited to just using the roof that you start on. I recommend that you first take out his four weak cronies first. Here are a few different tactics that you can use to kill him: 1) Blinding Flash + Roto-Blade: Use the blinding flash of a commando rifle on him at close range. Then, use your Roto-Blade to pierce his shield and attack his head. 2) Human Shield: Lure him to some of your allies camping earlier in the level. They are the ones who saluted you earlier. He will attack them instead of you, so then you can go in with your Roto-Blade. 3) Cluster Grenades: If you throw a LOT of cluster grenades at this guy, then you will deactivate his shield, so you can kill him the old fashioned way. 4) Destroy His Battery: Sneak up behind him and shoot at the battery on his back. This should be easy, since you have the whole level and no time limit to kill this guy. 5) Ladder: If you can get him on a ladder, he will not attack you if you stand in front of the ladder, so he can't get off. Then, you can take some free shots at him with your Roto-Blade. Once he is dead, you beat the game (the first way). Good job! Maybe you aren't such a n00b after all. You truly haven't beaten the whole game until you choose to accept the offer made to you earlier, and beat the game that way. ****************************************************************************** * * * POST-LEAGUE: ERADICATION * * * ****************************************************************************** [ERDI] ===================== ERADICATION BRIEFING - - - - - - - - - - - If you chose to accept the choice given to you earlier in the game, you will jump straight to this level, skipping the Arena mission. This mission uses the exact same map as the "Resistance" mission, but your objectives will be different, and this time you will be playing as the bad guys. That's right, your friends from the Resistance mission will be your enemies, and your previous enemies will be your friends. You just have to pretend that Nolan never took part in the Resistance mission, or the Arena mission. Anyway, the purpose of this mission is to invade the enemy base. After you do that, you have to take out their leader, Hang Shai Ming. Sounds simple enough, right? =========== MAP 1 OF 3 - - - - - - After the annoying cut scene of the guy telling you what the plan is, you will regain control over your guy in a very wide battlefield. There is a friendly tank shooting at the enemy fortifications, and an enemy Exoskeleton shooting at you from on top of the enemy fortifications. It is possible to take out this Exoskeleton, if you kill it quickly, because as soon as it takes enough damage, it will back away behind the fortifications to get repairs. Anyway, you are going to be spending most of your time on the right side of this battlefield, since there is nothing on the left side of it. So, follow the right canyon wall and kill all of the enemies along the way. If you didn't turn around after the cut scene, do so now. You must kill all enemies in the battlefield, or else your engineer who is going to be opening the gates will refuse to follow you. At the very end of the canyon on the right, there is a hill leading up to a cliff path. This path will take you around the enemy fortifications, and into their base. Its funny how your enemies didn't notice that. Oops! Anyway, go up the slope to the cliff path. If your engineer isn't following you now, then you probably didn't kill all of the enemies on the right side of the battlefield. From the top of the cliff path, you will have a good view of the battlefield, so you should be able to spot out any survivors. If not, go back down and search for them. From the cliff path, you should have a clear shot at that pesky Exoskeleton on top of the fortifications, even if it retreats. So, kill it. Continue along the cliff path until you get to a reload station. A cut scene should start. It will be about an enemy general telling his men that you are at their gates... and how he expects that they will all fight their hardest. It is such a pity that they all must die! Take note of the parked Exoskeleton during the cut scene. They might as well have just put a flashing sign over it that says "Steal Me". After the cut scene finishes, continue down the cliff path until you get to the main base area. Some enemies will arrive to greet you about 3/4 of the way down the cliff path. Once you have arrived in the main base area, you will be able to spot out some tents, a fenced in Helipad, a big building that houses an Exo, Exo(s) stomping around, and a whole ton of enemy soldiers. Kill the soldiers before you kill the Exoskeletons, because as soon as you kill both Exoskeletons, your engineer will blindly run into the enemy camp to unlock the gates, and he will be most likely killed along the way. When you think you killed enough soldiers (you can use the parked Exo to do this), kill the enemy Exoskeleton[s], then your engineer will run into the camp. Follow him. He will lead you to the top of the fortifications. Then, follow him along the top of the fortification stone wall, through a few doors. He will use a console on the wall, and then the gates to the enemy camp will open. Your allies will rush into the camp, into the fenced off Helipad area, and they will most likely kill off any remaining enemy soldiers. Now, run into the fenced off helipad area, and into the mineshaft at the back. Go into the lift, and stand there for about 3 seconds. You will be warped to map 2. Note: If your engineer just stands on top of the hill instead of running onto the top of the fortification, then using the control panel, then you have just experienced a bug. You will have to push him all the way over to the control by yourself. Once he gets close to it, the gates will open, but he will not do the hacking animation. ========= THE REST - - - - - The last two maps for this mission are identical to the last two maps in the Resistance mission. Scroll up a bit, and look at the Resistance mission walkthrough if you need any help with the last two Eradication maps... not that you should anyway. Sorry, but it would be a complete waste of disk space and bandwidth to copy and paste about 5KB worth of text ;) .... and that's the end of the walkthrough! You completely beat the game! Now you should be good enough to try playing some multiplayer without getting completely owned. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============================================================================== S E C T I O N S I X M O D D I N G / C H E A T S ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ****************************************************************************** * * * HOW TO MOD * * * ****************************************************************************** [HTMD] ============= INTRODUCTION - - - - - - - So, you want to learn how to mod BOS:BS? Modding BOS:BS is actually quite easy compared to most games. If you have done any modding before, then you will probably understand how to mod the game in just a few minutes. If you haven't done any modding before, then it might take you a little bit longer. I am writing this guide for people who have never modded before, so I will try to make my descriptions very clear and easy to understand. But first, what is modding? The word "mod" is the short form for gameplay modification. A gameplay modification is anything that can change the way you play the game. Mods can increase the life span of a game, because if the mod is drastic enough, it will completely change the way you play the game. =============================== THE "NO TUNING FOLDER" PROBLEM - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is a really odd problem that some people have. Instead of there being a Tuning folder in their \Mods\BOS directory, they have a Tuning.KTP file. Some versions of the game do not come with a pre extracted tuning file. I do not know of any solution that can fix this. Sorry! =================== BACK UP EVERYTHING - - - - - - - - - - The first thing you should do before modding any game is to back up the folder that contains the files that you will be modifying. That folder is: C:\Program Files\Klyotonn Entertainment\Bet on Soldier\Mods\Bos\Tuning\ To back up this folder, single click the folder icon, then press CTRL + C. Now press CTRL + V. This will create a second copy of the Tuning folder named "Copy of Tuning". If you ever mess up your mod and you want to start fresh, you can now just delete the original Tuning folder, then rename your backup folder to Tuning. Then, make another backup of Tuning. You will completely erase any mods you have enabled. =================== MODIFYING VARIABLES - - - - - - - - - - In BOS:BS, there are many gameplay settings that the developers purposely left available for you to tweak. You can find these settings in the files located in your Tuning folder. To access and change these settings, we have to first open one of the files. You can only open and modify files that have a .CFG extension. To open these types of files, you have to first right click the file's icon, then select Open With... from the right click context sensitive menu. After you do that, a menu with all programs that you have installed on your computer should appear in the middle of the screen. Select the program named "Notepad" from the list. This program comes pre installed with every copy of Windows. Now that you have selected the default program that the .CFG files will open with, you no longer need to do this process again. From now on, you can just double click the .CFG file, and it will automatically open itself using Notepad. Since we have a .CFG file open, let's start modifying some variables. But what is a variable you ask? A variable is a gameplay setting that you can change. Let's use the variable HeadDamageMultiplier from the file Gameplay.CFG. The number next to HeadDamageMultiplier is 2. So, if you are ever shot in the head, you will take 2 times the normal damage. If you ever changed the number 2 to another number (I will use the number 3), then you will take 3 times the normal damage if you are shot in the head, instead of 2. But, to get this to show up in the game, you must do two things. You first have to save the file that you are modifying. Then, you have to restart the game for your settings to take effect (this only applies to you if you have BOS:BS running in the background). There are literally thousands of variables that you can modify, each one has a different effect on gameplay. I can't list every single variable here, because there are far too many of them. But, what I can do is list some of the important files here, and tell you want kind of variables they have. =============== IMPORTANT FILES - - - - - - - - 1) Files inside the \Solo\Weapons\ folder contain variables that have to do with weapons. Important variables change prices of weapons and ammo, recoil of weapons, accuracy of weapons, number of bullets a weapon has, and the maximum number of mags a weapon can have. 2) Files inside the \Solo\Armors\ folder contain variables that have to do with armors. Important variables include the amount of protection each armor gives, any special effects each armor has, repair costs of armors, and the amount of money you have to pay to buy the armors. 3) Files inside the \Solo\Projectiles\ folder contain variables that have to do with projectiles that the weapons fire. Important variables include the damage per shot each bullet does, the speed of the bullets, and any special effects the bullets have. 4) The \Gameplay.CFG file contains many variables that alter gameplay in many different ways. There are so many useful variables in here, I can't list all of them. 5) The \Solo\Missions.CFG file contains many variables that change mission settings. Some examples of these variables are weapons available to you for that mission, rewards for completing each mission, Mercenaries you can select for the mission, and BOS Champions you can fight during the mission. =========== LIMITATIONS - - - - - - Keep in mind that there are some things that will prevent you from having your mods take effect. The first thing to remember is that if you downloaded a pirated copy of this game, modding doesn't work. Most pirated versions of the game have problems that prevent them from modding. I believe it has something to do with the crack needed to play the game. Oh well, that's your punishment for downloading the game illegally. Also, your mods will not work in Multiplayer. You will be able to see the mods that you made, but everyone else will not. For example, if you made your armor recharge itself extremely quickly, you will see that your armor is recharging, but everyone else won't. You will die just as fast. This is because the server has specified the game settings. If you have mods enabled and you try to join a multiplayer server, then your mods will not work, and your game will be lagged extremely badly. Disable any mods before playing online. ****************************************************************************** * * * TUTORIALS * * * ****************************************************************************** [TUTR] =============== BOTTOMLESS CLIP - - - - - - - - 1) Go to the \Solo\Weapons\ folder. 2) Open the file Gatlin.CFG. This file contains variables that will modify the miniguns. Sometimes, like in this case, the file name isn't exactly the same as the type of weapon that you want to modify. 3) Press CTRL + F. In the box that appears, type in MaxAmmo. Press Find Next. 4) The number to the first one we found was 175. This isn't nearly enough bullets to satisfy your spraying needs, so you have to change this number to 9999999. Do this for every minigun that doesn't have "BOT" in it's title, unless you want the blots to have infinite ammo. 5) Save changes, and restart BOS:BS. The next time you play, your minigun will have 10 million bullets per clip. I understand that you might not be very good at this game, so I won't think that you are any less of a person for doing this. ========= GOD MODE - - - - - 1) Go to the \Solo\Armors\ folder. 2) Open the file named Armors.CFG. 3) For all armors with "PLAYER" in their titles, add the following lines underneath: Plug_AutoRepair = true, AutoRepairRate = 9999.0, Plug_AutoHealing = true, AutoHealRate = 9999.0, 4) Save changes and restart BOS:BS. The next time you play, your health and armor will recharge the instant you take any damage. You could replace the numbers 9999 with something more reasonable like 3 or 4 to make your health and armor recharge more slowly. 5) If you do this to enemy armors, they will be invincible too. Make sure that you only do this with PLAYER armors. ================= F-ABBY PRICE FIX - - - - - - - - - 1) Go to the \Solo\Weapons\ folder. 2) Open the file named Commando.CFG. 3) Press CTRL + F. In the box that appears, type in 1200. Press Find Next. 4) The number 1200 should be highlighted. Add one zero on to the end of that number. 5) Save the file, and restart BOS:BS. The F-Abby should now be priced correctly. The in-game menu will still say it costs $1200, but when you buy it, you will pay $12000, which I believe was the intended amount. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============================================================================== S E C T I O N S E V E N L E G A L I N F O / C O N T A C T M E ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [LGCI] Copyright 2006 by Michael Seaman All Rights Reserved Do not post this guide on your web site or other publication.
