Doom 3 Message Board  

Whenever i try to install the game on vista, the launcher pops up and says "Cannot find import: DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version... then some weird file name in symbols and then error 126". I already tried converting my game from 3 cd's to a DVD but still no luck. Can Anyone plzzzzzzz help ??. it runs fine on XP but my OS is VISTA ULTIMATE SP1 32 Bits. I will be eternally grateful to the ones able to help. Thank you all.

Dude, as far as I know it's not a new one, maybe Vista can't support it.

Search for that dll online.

I ran Doom3 on Vista perfectly fine, could be one of your disks with a fault? (not sure how you mean when you said you merged your 3 disks to a DVD)

Please don't make any WAREZ related references.

Use Nero or any image burning software to make disc images of the game, then mount it using DAEMON tools, or whatever emulation tool you may prefer.

This may prevent some CRC errors (Cyclic Redundancy Check), that usually are due to scratched disks.

And if you still get the warning about that dll file, just do what SIL3NT-DE4TH advised, download it from the net...The source I trust is dll-dump.

HONESTGAMER,,i have already tried emulating but still dll error shows up. I am not sure which dll's to download but i believe that the problem lies with installshield. Any specific advise please. Thank you.

All right, try this. I am not sure for Vista, but this is for Windows 7:-

1) In the drive where you have installed windows, go to "Program Files".

2) From there locate a folder named "Common Files" and open it.

3) You'll find a folder named "InstallShield" here, delete it.

Now try installing the game. Hopefully this will work.
