So, I select one colour (example: red) but the colour that actually "stays" is a grey/black one.

Where did you download it from? It may have been cracked if you got it from a place like plunder.com.

Image > Mode > Check RGB Color.

Cause the person who made it, made it and saved it in Grayscale mode not RGB.
