So I just purchased Windows 7 ultimate after a while of saving. I'm like 'OMG OMG OMG, THIS KICKS BUTT, I NEED TO TELL MY FRIENDS'.

I make my way to the Windows website and download Live messenger, install it and reboot my computer. On startup, Windows Live Messenger appeared and I logged in, told my friends about how cool it was and got numerous responses of 'Oh, okay' before they went back to the box social or whatever the hell it is kids do these days...

Then I try to set up my Windows Media Player plugin. I open the program and the box shows on the taskbar, but nothing in the foreground. I then click the box... nothing. So I move the Windows Live Messenger program outta the way...

It has penultimate screen priority when maximised. It overrides the taskbar even, I can move it anywhere and it will get in the way. The only current cure that I have found for this is to minimise it, but it'd be a pain in the having to do that every time I want to switch programs.

I've searched across the 'Properties' section of the program and there was nothing of interest, I was wondering if any of you guys have a solution. I need it to have normal screen priority like everything else.

It's not the thing that cheeses me off the most though. I think it extracts the urine with the fact that a massive division of a massive company doesn't even have compatibility with their own software. That's like buying a sedan and asking for tires, they give you a box full of lego.

    /Second

I just switched to pidgin when my MSN started being belligerent. It works just as well and I haven't had a single problem with it.

Run MSN in compatibility mode ->Windows Vista.
Trust is a fragile thing. Once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Those we're closest to can betray us,and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

Thanks, it solved half of my problem, the excess program icons on the taskbar have disappeared, something I didn't mention...but nevertheless, it still has screen priority over everything. If no-one knows how to best this, I'll start using Pidgin.

    Thanks.
