Any ideas if a trainer for the Steam DL version will be done? Or if any of the current ones are compatible?

Be sure you have v1.2 and the current 1.2 Games for Windows Live trainer and you should be "ok". Though the Unlimited Health only applies to hits by machine gun: collisions, rockets, and torpedoes will still kill you. I haven't seen Unlimited Torpedoes work (and doesn't apply to bombs) but in Training mode you get reloaded with all dropped ordinance.
