If you do opt for another layout, i think you should incorporate an invite only board in there. Like a 'Lifetime Members Forum' hidden from other members but somewhere people can have challenging debates or mature discussion without having to worry about the younger or immature members being involved.

You can set topics to be UNL ONLY topics.

That doesn't quite have the same effect, any person with UNL membership could see it, what i mean is a select few people who are proven forum veterans capable of maintaining mature discussion.

I like this idea. Any person can just buy a membership and create topics, but access to a secret board would encourage people to discuss things maturely and make quality posts (kind of like AMMO, but more official.)
So, how about you guys design us a new version exactly like you want it and we'll have a look?
I think we should go back to this: Link

It's all about customization!
Here's my grand scheme: Link
The customizable menu thingy would be like the "Favorite Boards" page, so you can always see your in-site bookmarks.
And also you would be able to link to a cheats page or a trainer you want to remember to download later or a specific user's blog or whatever.
And it's all in one place, as opposed to being in many places.
Also, maybe include the ability to embed video links, in blogs at least.
Of course, I have absolutely no clue how to do any of it, nor any clue about the ease or difficulty of what I propose.
But you asked for ideas.
Look at this, this is an awesome idea!
