Not necessarily. Fanbrats are more likely to buy an exclusive game for bragging rights, and there is a more secure future, because of a big company owning the rights and wanting more money, thus having to make more games.
I doubt piracy affects their decision, since piracy seems to be lessened in more recent years. I remember a decade ago and most of my friends had a chipped PlayStation. Now I know very few people who even buy pirated games, let alone use them. The risks have become too great.
